The service was kinda odd. I went in about a half hour after they opened and the waitress was very brusque. The food I had there wasn't the best quality but wasn't the worst, but the take home roll that was supposed to have tuna on it was rough. It was either going bad or they put a weird glaze on it or both, but it was not red at all (and not cooked) and had a slimy neutral flavored slimy glaze on it? I wish it had been better as I have to run errands by there all the time and would love to snag a cheap bite when I'm there but it was brutal.

I've come to Party Sushi on multiple occasions now and each time I come, I ask myself why I don't come here more often! This is one of my favorite (and more affordable) sushi spots in Berkeley. I'm consistently met with extremely kind service and fresh fish. I came with two other friends of mine so we had to get the 3 amigos roll among others. Can you tell salmon is our favorite fish? The cuts were fairly thick and seem to be salmon belly cuts. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu and to try to catch one of their lunch special bento boxes!

first time here as well since it was along the same street and same block that the nail salon that my best friend and I visited. It was between Italian or sushi and of course we opted for the sushi. No one was in there, but we decided to check it out. My best friend ordered udon and a wrap sushi roll and I got a family affair and the Berkeley roll. I like that they gave me fork but they didn't have low sodium soy sauce. I wish it could be a little warmer inside as well. Both my rolls were pretty good. We might be back since we have another appointment at the nail salon on the 29th.

I've always walked by this place on Northside, but never thought to go inside. Something about the name didn't scream to me amazing sushi, so it was never on my mind. However, my friend recommended this spot to me one day so we came on a Friday night. It wasn't too busy, and we were able to get seated right away at prime dinner time. Their menu features a ton of signature rolls as well as the classics, and some other entrees that aren't sushi. I decided to get the three amigos roll which was crab and spicy tuna inside, wrapped in salmon and avocado on the outside. For what was in this roll, the price was super reasonable! I love how it was basically all fish, and with salmon and spicy tuna being two of my favorites, I knew I had to try it. The fish was so fresh and the sauce on top added great flavor to the entire piece. I was so happy to finally find a good quality sushi spot in Berkeley! There were so many other rolls and items that caught my eye on the menu that I will definitely be back soon for more. Highly recommend!

Nice place! Very cute setup inside! They also do pickup! The service was a little slow, but she was alone to serve all tables! So she is totally a rockstar!!! There was water as soon as we sat down! The drinks were great and wonderfully served! The best part of the sushi was the combo plate! Loved loved and loved this!!! The salad was very crispy fresh. There was a soup, but I forgot to get a picture! Was delicious!!! Every bite was a party!!! I will be back, Fer sure! Didn't see a restroom! Street parking!

Stumbled upon this place after a morning at the Berkeley Botanical Gardens with my mom. The name of the restaurant made us not expect much, but the pictures and our stomachs got us into the door. Thank God it did! This place was amazing! First of all, the prices compared to across the Bay Bridge were reasonable. The customer service was great! The server was very accommodating and friendly. We don't eat shrimp and she made sure to note our specifications for our order. They accommodated by adding more veggie tempura to our order. The miso soup and green tea hit the spot because it was warm and not too hot. The fish here is fresh and melt in your mouth! The presentation for the chirashi was beautiful. The flavors were delicious and even the shiitake mushroom was cooked well. It was worth the price. The veggie tempura was crunchy and the veggies were not over cooked and you could still tell they were veggies. The salmon teriyaki has great sauce and tasted great. The rice with the sesame on top added more flavor to an overwise bland side. The house salad was fresh and the lettuce was crunchy. The Family Affair roll has raw onions and scallions on top. We were warned beforehand, but it added to the freshness and flavor of the roll. The mayo sauce used on top was yummy. Every time we come across the bay, we will be sure to visit this restaurant. An unexpected find that we hope will keep the same management. I totally recommend it to anyone craving some sushi.

Swamp, three amigo, Rainbow, Romeo and Juliet, rolls (top to bottom)
    Christina G.

Got a takeout order of Three Amigo ($13), Rainbow ($14), Swamp ($11), and Romeo and Juliet ($14.50) rolls from here. The order was ready when I got there about 10 minutes after my pickup time (25 minutes after I called). Unfortunately, the rolls were not very good. The fish didn't taste very fresh and the layer of rice was sparse in some places, making for some sad looking sushi (though lower carb, ha). Strangely there was also a sweet sauce on top of the rainbow roll, perhaps to mask the taste of the fish. However, I did like that the roll menu here had some creativity, and the prices were not cheap but not expensive.

Such a good sushi spot! It's located by UC Berkeley campus. Reasonable price sushi. Service was great and waited for me and my friend for us to be ready to order. I recommend checking out.

We entered a few minutes before peak dinner times, so there were seats to choose and sit from. By the time we left, mostly all the seats were filled up, so I would suggest coming in early. I liked the naming for each of the ramen dishes, some I recognized the names from Hawai'i. For this round, we ordered 3 different types of ramen: the Kuni, Broke da Mouth, and the Miso Hungry. These orders also came around the same time. A notable elements I liked about the ramen was that the noodles were chewy and springy, and the broth was smooth and easy to drink. I also didn't have the urge to drink lots of water either, so the seasoning was perfect. The other element was that I got to enjoy the ramen's broth and noodles as the stars of the dish, and the proteins, like the pork were supporting roles. For me, what I enjoy ramen are the broth and noodles, so I'm happy that these are prominent in the dish, rather than me having other chow down a thick slab of pork. This restaurant hit the right marks for what a delicious ramen is for me, so I'll come back, and maybe try their other broths.

Aug 9 2025 3:30pm 3.4 stars…read more After a short struggle to find parking, we walked the half a block to find Bansho tucked away in a corner- almost hidden from the street. The front doors are littered with adds and dirt. It looked a bit sketchy on the outside but we went inside anyway. Inside, the restaurant looks very pleasant. It has a comfortable and cozy look for a small 49 seat place. Mood music plays at a quiet level. There are several conversation starters for sure inside the restaurant like.. "What is that shrine with the green bananas on it for?" "Can you decipher the price of beer written on that chalkboard?" My favorite was "What is that treadmill doing in this restaurant?" We were seated and given menus. The waitress left and then came back after four or five minutes. I felt a little rushed to order as if the order taker assumed we had pre-prepped ourselves on their menu. We had to ask for more of a chance to look at the options. The two of us shared a bowl of Ramen, an order of California Rolls, a coke and later on we ordered Takoyaki-deep fried dough with I believe a piece of squid inside. Before the waitress left to give our first order to the chef, she said "Anything else?" I inferred she was suggesting our order was to small. Later I understood she might be warning me that that might be our last chance to order anything. It was hard for us to place that second order of Takoyaki. Once we were given our food, the waitress disappeared and never checked on us. To place another order, I had to keep the kitchen under surveillance, watching for someone to exit so we could jump up, run to the frond desk area and order. The food we did have was tasteful enough and the $41 seems fare. Negatives for Bansho. 1) The phones used by the front desk and in the kitchen are too loud, they ring for too long and destroy the ambience. Someone will one day invent a device that buzzes in your pocket instead of ringing loudly throughout the entire restaurant. Name it something catchy like "Cell Phone". 2) The Men's restroom was too dusty and the toilet seat was "spotty"- if you know what I mean. 3) Having someone check on you while you are eating and saying "Welcome In" when you get there and "Thank You For Your Business" when you leave would go a long way. I did see a sign that they are hiring so they might have been short staffed.
