Overall, good experience renting from April and Partytime Machines. A little bit of communication trouble in the early party of the process trying to give my payment information as I didn't want to put it in an unprotected form, but once I had April's direct line - no more issues. Delivery was scheduled for the day before our party but the driver got stuck in Monterey so they moved it to the morning of the party, but still in plenty of time for the drinks to freeze so no issues there. We had some trouble when we first started the machine (leak due to gasket placement) but April came right back when we called and helped us troubleshoot. No further problems, the machines worked great. Dual frozen drink machine was a big hit with the kids and the hot dog roller worked perfectly for our 7-eleven themed party. Pickup was smooth the next morning. Will use Partytime again and had no hesitation giving their info out to our friends at the party who were interested in renting equipment as well. read more

Extremely rude and unprofessional! Called because I had a client looking for a margarita machine for a party they are hosting. I asked the person who answered how their day was going after saying hello and their response was what do you want I'm in a conference call. I'm sorry for interrupting you during business hours if your were busy then you probably shouldn't pick up the phone. I told them I just needed info on a margarita machine then they said again I'm on a conference call to call later. My daughter wanted a cotton candy machine for her birthday last minute, so I called 2 days in advance because I knew that was short notice and wanted to make sure it wasn't booked and that I could still book it. I spoke to a lady who assured me that I could still book it who then referred me over to the website to complete the reservation. Once I filled out the reservation request it mentioned that it was just a request and that they would follow up with me to confirm. Today is the day of the party and they have not called or emailed me to confirm , I have been calling ever hour with no response. Used Partytime Machines twice and the most recent experience may be the last... Last year, requested Partytime Machines to drop off a machine at 9 am. The driver arrived at 8:15 am?!? During the pickup, the driver missed his pickup window and gave me a hard time...um...what happened to the contract?!? I recall Partytime machines making a big fuss since they had to come back again to pick up the machine at my convenience. The driver also wanted to charge me a "cleaning fee"...um okay?!? Fast forward one year to May 2012. Requested Partytime machines to stop by at 9 am. During the reservation process, the contract clearly articulated that the driver had to be punctual. (I was about to impose a $50 discount if I had to wait since Partytime Machine's contract imposes a $50 fee if the driver has to wait...) 9:25 am the driver calls stating that he is "one block away" and will be here shortly as he had to ensure that he brought me the right equipment. 9:40 am, the driver arrives at the East side when I requested for the West side of campus...aye aye aye. Ordered a "dual" margarita machine and the driver had the urge to ask me why I ordered a "dual" machine when I only requested for one flavor. (I wanted both alcoholic and virgin drinks...) After pushing the machine back to the West side of campus, the driver had to pick up the right machine "in 10 minutes." ...45 minutes later, the driver shows up again with the dual machine...aye aye aye. ...the return pickup was perfect... ...sorry...no more Partytime Machines for me... read more

Excellent service. My only complaint was between the guy on the phone telling me to get the yelp coupon for $10 for $20 when the check in deal worked out much more in my favor. I now have a $10 for $20 coupon that I don't know when I am going to use. I got the margarita machine. The margarita mix was tasty, and was consumed by my guests, and the hurricane mix was used as a non-alcoholic mix on the other side of the machine. ***BUYER BEWARE*** RUN, DON'T WALK AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! Partytime Machines rents inferior and damaged equipment and will blame you for user error and then unilaterally charge you substantial sums of money as a result of its problems. I rented a double margarita machine for my wife's birthday party several weeks ago, personally picked up the machine, and discussed with their 'technicians' how to properly operate the machine. I was very careful to follow their 'simple' instructions, however, after filling the second canister with 1 gallon of expensive tequila and their margarita mix, the seal at the back of the canister broke. The entire canister exploded onto the walls of my house and leaked everywhere; the mess was unreal. I immediately contacted the company and no one seemed quite sure what to do; they said they had never experienced this before. I texted pictures of the canister and mess to which Jessamy apologized and said this should have never happened and wasn't my fault. I was able to contact the owner, Ren, and to his credit was able to quickly have a technician deliver a new commercial margarita machine to my house, just in time for the party. However, at no time did Ren or an employee disclose there would be additional charges. This was very clearly a problem with their equipment and I believed they were trying to making things right and overcome what was an embarrassing situation for the company. Two weeks after the party, I received an email from Ren, the owner, with a revised invoice, effectively charging me DOUBLE the cost of the original contract. They cited delivery fees, machine test fees, rental of the commercial margarita machine, full charge for the defective/broken double margarita machine, and machine cleaning fees. This is absolutely outrageous, unprofessional, and unacceptable. I intend to register a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and share my personal experience on every major social media platform with the goal of helping consumers protect themselves from the unscrupulous business practices of Ren and Partytime Machines. I fully expect Ren to reply to this review and spin his response in a way that portrays me as a bumbling idiot for not following instructions and knowing how to operate what is supposed to be a very simple machine. Let's see if I'm right. Personal note to Ren and the employees at Partytime Machines: Ren, you should be ashamed of yourself. I hope this is worth it to you! And thanks for not following through on your promise to reimburse me for the cost of the lost tequila. To Jessamy and Jose, THANK YOU for being so wonderful and responsive. I rented a double margarita machine this past weekend. While we had a leak on one side, the other was fine. I let that team know about that leak right away, they offered to bring a new unit out, but I said no we will figure it out and they indicated they would provide a credit for the inconvenience. When we returned the unit they were genuinely concerned about the failure (leak) and asked what I felt was a fair credit for them to issue. They did agree with the my proposal on the credit and I left very satisfied even though the margaritas were a bust. Takeaways: The party was awesome and I can't thank the team enough for listening, understanding and provide an outcome favorable to both of us. In a year nobody will remember one side of a margarita machine leaking, but they will remember a fun night which included frozen drinks! 5 star customer service and totally recommend them. read more

In June 2013, I went on Partytime's website and submitted reservation request for my daughter's 1 year bday. I was looking into a snow cone maker or popcorn machine. Never heard back and didn't think about Partytime a second time. Until a week ago, November 11th I received an email from Partytime - Ren Calderhead with subject "Partytime invoice". Below is the email from Ren... "Hello Yvonne, Attached please find a copy of your invoice for rentals from PartyTime Machines. Payment is due upon receipt. this event was back in July, Won't you please pay today? We hope your event was a great success! Thank you for your business," Are you kidding me partytime? I was surprised to read the email and view the invoice. I emailed Ren twice and never heard back. He better void that invoice because I only inquired and did not receive any services from the business. read more

If I could give this place NO stars, I would do it! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE. I rented a cotton candy machine from Ren (owner). When I picked it up, I specifically asked him, " how do I clean this when I return it?" He said, "ohh it is easy, simply dump the remaining sugar from the valve". THAT IS IT. He did not say anything else but please be careful of the dome because it is expensive. Really? The thing was cracked in half with nasty glue on it. The dome was so old you couldn't even see through it. When I returned the machine, Ren said, "it is dirty, common sense would tell you to clean it". OMG, WTF, REALLY? I have nothing to say but rent from somewhere else and save yourself the grief and spare yourself the extra $30 they charge you for cleaning their OLD machines. This is a great place to do business with, we could only wish every business out in the world were like Partytime Machines. They were true professionals. We had to rent a bubble machine for our Relay for Life event at Willow Glen High School, we had received this business information from the American Cancer Offices and we immediately contact them for prices and availability. They were able to get back to us with all the information we needed to make the reservation for the bubble machine. When we arrived to pick up the machine it was ready, and all the instruction were easy and very clear how to run the machine. So if you are looking for a party machine this is who we would recommend you to come and get your machine from. Perhaps I would have rated them 5 stars if they actually showed up to my wedding. My husband and I had used Partytime as a vendor for our wedding earlier this month to have a soft serve machine during the reception. We had an ice-cream themed wedding so we were so excited to have it for our big day! Months before the wedding we had talked with Tori, set up a contract, and went there to see what the soft serve machine looked like and how to use it. I talked with Tori a couple times prior to the wedding and she said we were all good to go. Day of our wedding and they don't show up! My day coordinator calls them and they thought our event was the week after..... Things started looking brighter when they tell my coordinator that they'll rush over asap. A couple hours past and still a no show so my coordinator calls them back and they reply, "Sorry we don't have your contract - we can't serve you." EHH?? The day after the wedding, we call them and after some searching, they finally find the contract. Sigh...... I found Partytime through yelp because it has some raving reviews. I booked the bubble machine with Torrie and we had corresponded via email a couple times due to cancellation, and editing of the contract. All in all the service was great. The price is unbeatable and my daughter was pleased with the snokone machine and the bubble machine. Torrie accidental overbooked the bubble machine and she special ordered another one and I was given a huge deal (as a tester) to try the machine out. I absolutely loved Partytime Machines the first time I used them! I had a little house warming party and I wanted to have a chocolate fountain. The guy who came to drop it off was super helpful and nice. He showed us how to properly use it and any little things we needed to know. It was the smallest chocolate fountain they had. It was pretty easy to use and the chocolate tasted awesome. We didn't have any problems with it. But then when it came to having my 25th Birthday party that was a different story. I ordered a larger chocolate fountain, snow cone machine, popcorn machine, and a cotton candy machine. They guy that came and dropped off the equipment was not all there. He seemed to be annoyed and in a super rush. When it came time to tell me about the machines, he didn't really give me a whole lot. I was basically left to figure it out myself. And sadly, I was only able to get the popcorn machine and the chocolate fountain working. Some of the time. Basically, the machines were too powerful to all run at once in the space we had. I had rented out a 200 person room at the Campbell Community Center, and with all of them plugged into one wall, spread out of course on different sockets, it blew a fuse. So we had to separate things. Like putting the snow cone machine in the kitchen. Which was totally inconvenient and the snow cone machine worked for awhile but not very long. We never got the cotton candy machine working, and I was looking forward to using that the most. The machine had a glitch or something. And the chocolate in the chocolate fountain wasn't smooth because he had forgot to bring the oil like they did the first time. I would have brought it myself if I had known. Maybe I should have inquired more as to how much power you need to supply all of those machines at once. But I am a girl and really have no clue about that kind of stuff. Plus when the guy was there he, didn't seem to think that anything would be a problem. This review is more about that guy and the machines not working then Partytime Machines as a whole because Tori who I was working with in the planning process was super helpful and prompt. TERRIBLE SERVICE! Wish I could give no stars! Written in contract you can pick up the machines between 9 am and 12 noon, I get here just before 11:45 am, doors open no one in the office or warehouse. I call the number multiple times I send emails and no response. I try to text the number and it says an invalid number...finally the 6th time I've called and I get an answer. Was told they told the workers they could leave early. Then they claim they called me multiple times yesterday with no response. You didn't call me! No missed calls no messages received on my phone. Then I'm told he can't be at the warehouse for 30 minutes, so now I have to wait 30 minutes for someone to get here to give me the damn machine I need to use for my daughters birthday party...Get it together party time machines! read more

Rented the cotton candy and popcorn machine. Never used one before, so it was scary at first, but they give you a step by step written instructions on how to use and clean. They were easy to use and clean. Don't let 30 cleaning fee scare you. Just a little warm water and everything comes off! We had a great time with these machines. We will be using this company again. I was recently gifted a full sized popcorn and cotton candy machine from a family member. I was searching for the right type of popcorn and sugar to use with my machines when I found Partytime Machines. I called them and the guy who answered was incredibly helpful in trying to explain how to use the machine and the best way to go about keeping it in good condition. I thought to myself: "wow, very thorough and friendly!" The great thing is that Partytime Machines sells the supplies even if you don't rent the machines from them. They have quite a selection of flavored sugars (10+?). In addition, when I went to pick up the supplies the gentleman working was more than accommodating and gave me a mini demonstration on how to properly pop popcorn, even thought I wasn't renting. I can immediately recognize good quality business and friendly customer service. Someone willing to go out of their way to make sure I was taken care of even if I wasn't renting an entire setup is a pleasant surprise. I will definitely come here for my supplies in the future. Working with Tori at PartyTime Machines was a treat! I wanted to have Dole Whip instead of cake at my wedding, so I contaced PartyTime Machines about a soft serve machine rental. Since they had never used Dole whip mix before, they wated to do a test run. I gave them some mix, and they discovered that a smaller machine would provide the hourly output I needed - saving me money AND hassle! Winning!! The machine worked well during the wedding and other than a snag on the pickup (the driver called me on my honeymoon instead of calling the venue as instructed), everything was perfect. :-) read more

I called a week before my event to reserve a machine and the person who answered the phone was too lazy to help me over the phone. She instead told me to reserve the item I needed online. I completed the forms online and on the day I went by to pick the item up, I was told that the item had already been rented out. Avoid this place at all costs! Jesaemy and Grump Grandpa really pulled through for our students of Concord High! Grad nite is a safe place for our students to party the night and morning away and on the day of the event, another vendor refused to commit to us leaving me with uncertainty that he would be there with a machine. I called Partytime after tears and frustration and within one hour, I got a commitment, contract and pure professionalism from them! Not to mention the were reasonably priced!!! If I could leave negative stars I would. We rented a large slushy machine for my son's first birthday. We confirmed that it would run on a generator since we would be at a park. It did not work. We assumed our generator didn't have enough power so we rented one with more power and the machine still didn't work. It was an extremely hot day and we expected slushies for the kids and all we had was a broken machine. We took the machine back, explained the issue and we got a response of "we'll look into it". With no follow up we were charged for the machine. When we questioned why we were charged there was no response. Long story short, their customer service is lacking and the dealings were shady. We will be contacting BBB and disputing the charges. Save yourself the headache and go with a different vendor. read more

I was going to just let this go until I saw some of the recent reviews whereas others have had troubles with the owner as well. I rent things all the time, I have held a hundred functions over the years from 10 to 500 people. I know how to read their contracts and understand why they include certain aspects. With that said, I received my contract from them and there was one thing that bothered me - to brief - it was that I accept the machines "as is" with no guarantees they will work or have any issues. Yet, I am fully responsible for them from them moment I receive them, if they don't work or anything is wrong, no exceptions, it's my responsibility. So I sent back his required clause via email "I have read, understood, and agree to the terms and conditions in the attached contract" and added underneath that I agree with the understanding that I would "return the items in the same condition as I received them" He said he couldn't work with those "understandings" asked if I was an attorney, and canceled the contracts. I am now working with a company called "Innovative Event Rentals" and they have been a joy to work with. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!! The margarita machine can be bought for $70 at Costco. When I made the reservation I specifically ensured to inform Tom about the double flight of 24 stairs and asked if it would be a problem and made sure the machine would be delivered at a time I would be able to receive it since I had to work the morning of my sisters baby shower I was hosting. While making the reservation, it was no problem, Tom had been "doing this a long time". I would have to keep the machine over the weekend because they were closed Saturday after 6pm, but at the time I hadn't seen my new machine or else I would have never gone for this $500 RIPOFF I was contacted to drop off the machine at 8:38AM after I had informed Tom multiple times I would be available to receive the machine until noon, the machine had to be dropped off at a nearby family members apartment who just had a newborn baby and had her mom, 3 year old niece, and 2 year old nephew visiting. My guest had to carry the machine up the stairs for the event and back down to my car afterwards since this "party rentals" company closes before 6PM on a Saturday and I was charged an extra $50 for delivery on top of the $150!! Rented a cotton candy and ice cream machine from them. Word of advice, get the good stuff for the ice cream machine. You can choose from ice milk to 2% to real ice cream. I chose the ice cream, and it was really tasty and quite a hit. These guys have a huge inventory of products, and the equipment is pre-tested so there will be no surprises.
