Terrible customer service! First of all the machine I rented did not work and all they could do was accuse me of not reading the instructions or using it properly. I did read the instructions and the machine was "on a dedicated circut" but Ren (the owner) would not believe that and said this happens all the time when customers don't have enough power running through their plugs. Why would you rent me a machine that doesn't work with a normal 110 outlet. They refused to credit the rental and continued to berate and blame my wife and I for not understanding a so called contract that we never saw. Stay away from this business!!! read more

I tried to rent a cotton candy machine through Partytime Machines for a corporate event. The owner shows up in beach shorts and sandals to deliver. I was in meetings all morning and missed his call when he arrived. Apparently he was waiting for about 30 minutes at the lobby for me to come down. When I went to the lobby, security informed me that he did not want to sign in. He said he signed in at Tesla once and was sued? Not sure why, however, in my corporate building, he needed to sign in for security reasons. He refused to sign in and was very rude to the security officers. He was raising his voice in the lobby at me and tells me to walk with him outside. I go outside and he yells at me more. I did not understand why he was yelling if I was being polite the entire time. Security was fearful for me so they were watching me from afar. I then go upset and asked him if he wanted my business or not cause I was paying for this. He said "NO" and left. Very unprofessional and embarrassing situation to go through in front of customers. read more

We have rented equipment from Party Time Machines for several parties in the last couple of years. Popcorn machines, hot dog warmers, cotton candy. They have a number of other types of concession-type equipment as well (nacho, margarita, soda fountain, patio heaters) All the machines have been in good working order, spotless and clean, and have clear operating instructions. I have spoken to both the owner, Ren, and his staff and they have all been friendly and helpful. They offer discounts for school fundraisers, too! Needed something cool for my daughters Sweet 16 party. Teenagers are a tough crowd. I got lucky and found Partytime online. I submitted an online request for a double slushie and popcorn machine on late Friday afternoon. First thing Monday I had the quote in my email. The price was great and even better...they were right around the corner from me! I picked them up on Saturday morning for that evening's party. I got them all set up with the fabulous directions they gave and the frosties were ready to go...early even! They provided EVERYTHING. I was even surprised to be given extension cords for the machines and the cute little bags for the popcorn. The equipment was very clean, easy to set up and a HUGE HIT at my daughters party. THIS IS A MUST HAVE FOR CERTAIN EVENTS!!! Always a great experience!!! I've rented from Partytime on a number of occassions going back about 1 year now. We've used their services for adult parties (margarita machines), kids' parties (cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn) and a mix like school events etc. Surprisingly, the cotton candy was extremely well received at the office party we threw last month. I recommend it highly! While he might not be "bubbly", Ren has always been professional and knowledgable about the machines he rents. He's friendly and gives detailed instructions on the operation and cleaning of his equipment. It should be noted that Ren was quite generous when he learned that one of the events was for a school fundraiser, offering additional product at a discount and assistance in getting everything set up. I found the prices quite reasonable and have had bad experiences in the past with other companies that either delivered late or forgot to show, or had rank machines that I opted not to use. I have even taken to driving down from SF in a pinch, just to rent from Partytime as I always know that I'm getting my money's worth. read more

Second time I have rented a margarita machine from Partytime. First time was a double and this time I rented a single. At first I was apprehensive about using their mix but my friends loved the margaritas! I usually like to use Cuervo mix but their mix is good. Partytime makes it easy to reserve/pay for the machine and pick up/drop off is very easy. As to making the margaritas they give you a bucket to mix everything in and it's all marked on the side as to how much of each ingredient to put in. Freeze time was 3 hours. This place have the worse customer service ever. I rented a Magarita from them for the company I work for. The old guy that is running the place is rude. I gave him my company credit card and I ask for a receive and he say he cannot print 1 cuz the person that know how to run the credit card is not there. WTF. So he wrote down my card #. I just hope he dont put any charge on there beside the fees I just hope these guy doesnt charge me extra. This place is a rip off. Becareful!!! I am never renting from them again. Thank you, Party Time! My kids really enjoyed the snow cone machine for their summer party. I had more luck with the phone and with emailing than with the website. Maybe start by phoning them first. Also, I was able to pick up and drop off the machine myself since we live close by. It might be best to come in person if you have time to do that. Their fax was not working so I went in person to sign agreement the day before our event. I asked if it was possible to just take the machine and save myself the trip the next morning. They kindly let me do that and. a very polite young man helped me load the machine in my van and made sure I knew how to use it safely. The machine was quite easy to use and a very big hit. I put it on a 2 foot high table near my kitchen counter so that it was a comfortable height for me. I bought a 20 lb bag of ice from safeway - that served about 15 cones. I let the kids put the syrups and "snow cap" (sweetened condensed milk over the syrup. Yum!) on the ice themselves. I could not be more satisfied. The reservation was very simple and Sonja was very helpful in letting me know how things would work, how long it would take the machine to make margaritas, what was the most popular flavor, etc. She suggested I spend a little extra on good alcohol and it was good advice. She even called me an hour before pickup to remind me. When I picked the machine up they were very helpful with first testing the machine to be sure it worked properly and then how to run it. They included a bucket with mixing instructions right on it and a 20' extension cord. They also gave me written instructions in how to run and clean it with troubleshooting tips. The machine worked flawlessly and much more quickly than I even hoped. It was a very hot day and we had product in less than an hour. Our guests were raving about the margaritas. At the end you just run water through it on the clean cycle and wipe it off. What could be easier Return the next morning was just as easy with everyone being very quick and helpful. I regret the fact that I had a good experience one time with this company and liked the attendant, when I tried booking another event with them, the service was not good at all, people that were so helpful before no longer work there, except for the attendant that I liked so much was still there, the problem was her boss said she was a not to be trusted and was bad at her job.....All I know is we had her at our house for the event and she was great....if I had a business I would hire her. Our PTA rented a number of machines for our school carnival and what a turnout! The kids loved the cotton candy and popcorn, the weather was great so we sold out of the smoothies and snow-cones! The staff at Partytime was nice enough to deliver the machines and offer us a tutorial so that we were fully ready to operate during the fair. They were great to work with, they helped us pick out just the right amount of products and gave good advice on what to rent. I am now making a reservation for a margarita machine for an upcoming birthday bash at my home. The equipment rented was clean and in great working order when I picked it up and I returned it in the same manner. I was looking for a bubble machine for my daughter's 5th birthday. I called several places, but Partytime was the most responsive to my emails, and had competitive prices, so I went with them. When I showed up, they said the the bubble machine that I had rented had a broken belt (they were testing it before renting it), so they rented 2 slightly smaller machines to me for the same price. Tori was very helpful and nice. The machines didn't work out for me that well. I don't know if it was user error, or if that's how bubble machines go...but we ended up with a big pile of bubbles on the ground, and just turned the machines off. When I returned the machines, I told Tori that our experience wasn't that great. She was very apologetic, and refunded my money. I couldn't have asked for better customer service. People... IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE CHARGED ADDITIONAL FEES TO RENT A COTTON CANDY MACHINE OR PARTY MACHINE DO NOT BRING YOUR BUSINESS HERE!!! I was charged an additional $50 for some testing fee when I brought it back, they will try to find something to charge you for! Or they may even charge you an additional fee for cleaning. These guys will try to find something wrong with the machine to charge you an additional fee. The owner on the phone Ren was very fun and bubbly at first when I called to inquire about renting a cotton candy machine. He said it was 70 dollars to rent the machine for the weekend and that I could even pick it up on Friday. He also mentioned that they charge 10 dollars more then most places but they promise a great working machine and a clean machine. So I went to go pick up the machine and this place is soo hard to find, it is off the Almaden Expressway in a AUTO BODY center. Believe me, you will get lost. I have great bearings, I never get lost!! After a great party, I brought it back and a guy named Tom was not friendly at all, he never asked me how the machine worked, if I had fun with it. He just told me to bring it into the garage and back up my car. He inspected the machine and went in the back to ask the owner Ren to come check out the machine. He noticed it was a little sqeaky. Ren came out an old grouchy looking man, no smiles, not friendly and went directly to the machine and checked it out. HE WAS NOT THE SAME FUN PERSON THAT I TALKED TO ON THE PHONE!! He asked me a bunch of questions, I told him that I followed the directions they had given me and the machine worked perfect. He started to mumble and walked away upset. I asked him why he was upset with me and why he was giving me an attitude. He came up to me like he was about to hit me stared in my face silently and walked away and told Tom to charge me. JUST like that, I knew these guys were taking advatage of me, trying to make some kind of money. So Tom, said, well, I've gotta charge you for an additional 50 bucks for a testing fee.. he showed me the contract. At first he was going to charge me for some cleaning fee, even when I brought the machine back clean. EVERYBODY... IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO RENT A PARTY MACHINE DO NOT RENT HERE. THERE ARE CHEAPER MACHINES ELSEWHERE!!!! THESE PEOPLE WILL RIP YOU OFF LIKE THEY DID ME WHEN YOU BRING THE MACHINE BACK. I'm sorry I have to do this as I don't like giving negative feedback, but I cannot let this go. I had a good experience with this company a year ago so I came back. I rented a margarita machine for my party and after my online order was placed I received an email confirmation that they received my order and would contact me soon. This was several weeks before my party. Within a week of my party I hadn't heard from them so I called and they confirmed they had my order and they would contact me soon with the details. Two days before the party I hadn't heard from them so I called them again and went through the details. During this call we changed my order from a pick up order to a delivery. The window we agreed upon for a delivery was all day Friday or Saturday morning. My party was scheduled for Saturday at 1:00. They did not deliver on Friday so I assumed it would be delivered the next morning. On Saturday morning starting at 9:00 am I made my first phone call to them to find out what time it would be delivered. I got an answering machine. Between my wife and I we made 13 calls between 9 and 12:30. All we got was an answering machine. Then my wife went to their warehouse and I stayed behind as guests started showing up. She called me from the warehouse location and it was closed. We left our final disappointing message at 12:30 and took another route for our party. This was Memorial Day weekend so I expected them to call me on Tuesday morning as a first order of the day after they heard all my messages. I expected an apology to me for their mistake. They didn't call. So, I called them around 10:30 and they had no clue that they failed me. They told me they didn't get my messages. They then told me they would find out what happened and call back. When they called back their excuse was that when I changed my order from pick up to delivery the delivery crew got confused, tried to call me at 8:45 am on Saturday and I didn't answer, and then made the decision to leave my machine in the warehouse. I never received a call from them on Saturday morning and I never received the margarita machine for my party. Mistakes happen, but what really upset us enough to write this negative review was the company's total lack of empathy and lack of taking ownership of their error. Their attitude after this incident was "oh well, sorry". I have crossed them off my list and hope that you will too. There are better rental companies out there to rent from. read more

PartyTime Machine Rentals is NOT a place I would ever rent from! I have worked in the customer service field for years and the way these people run their business is TERRIBLE! The customer service is terrible and Ren could learn a thing or two about running a business and delivering great customer service since it is lacking here. I inquired about machine rentals two weeks before my event date which I felt was sufficient time to plan what I would need to rent for my event. I didn't hear back from PartyTime Machine Rentals until about week later (7days) after I called and sent a follow up email. Once I received their response I replied with updated information so that I could receive a quote/contract for my event which had then eventually been pushed out by a week. I received my first contract which was sent to me by Ana and unfortunately many things had been assumed (obviously they did not look at my email) and I had to ask for corrections to be made. When I received the revision contract #2 the price had increased and I also noted that they had left off other information that was on the first contract I received. I called and emailed PartyTime Machine Rentals to let them know I needed it fixed and to explain the increase in price. I received a call from Ren who told me "I cannot spend any more time on this. I have other clients and you are making this very difficult. I am sending over the final contract and I need for your to approve it so we can get this finalized." I explained to him that the corrections he was making on his contract were because PartyTime Machine Rentals made them and I was not comfortable signing until it was corrected. He then sent me contract # 3 and to my surprise I found that all the corrections had been made but the price had increased AGAIN! I contacted PartyTime Machine Rentals for an explanation, again what Ana had to say was "Well you changed the type of syrup you wanted and you wanted a premix batch" I explained yes because this was included on the first contract at no charge. She explained well yes because we forgot to charge you so we added it on. I don't understand why I am getting charged for your mistakes and errors. Long story short my original quote was for ~$750.00 and over the three contracts I received it increased to ~$820.00. I found another vendor last minute who was able to give me the exact items I was inquiring about through PartyTime Machine Rentals with extras included at a much better cost, $600.00 total!! I received a friendly phone call, email and contract all in the same day. I suggest you look at other vendors unless you like being nickeled & dimed, and dealing with people who deliver no customer service. PartyTime Machine Rentals is ripping you off!! read more

I was throwing my daughter a sweet 16 party, the theme was Carnival so we decided to do all concession style foods! I called and rented 3 machines, nacho cheese warmer, chip warmer, hotdog/bun steamer. When I called to book, everything went smoothly and quickly. I received the invoice via email and completed the transaction. My husband went to pick up the machines on Friday, party was on Sunday. That went smoothly as well. The day of the party, I set up all machines, cheese worked great, nacho warmer good, then the hotdog one, I went to flip the on switch and began getting shocked! I turned it off right away, unplugged everything and plunged just the hotdog one back in, still getting shocked! So I called the owner and he stated that it was weird because he had used it not to long ago.... I told him my party starts in less then an hour and we really need this machine, since it was raining this was a must machine for us, he told us he couldn't swamp it out for at least an hour and a half =/ but assured me I wouldn't be charged for it. So I ended up pulling the BBQ out and doing the hot dogs the best way I could. It was stressful but I guess you can predict these things right? I do wish they were able to accommodate us and switch out the machine but thats okay. Next time I will test out everything once I have them before my event. Not a happy experience. I found Partytime via a google search and it looked like they had what i was looking for in a SnowKone and Popcorn machines for my daughters 12th bday party. I engaged with Sonja initially over email and then via phone calls. There was a lot of conversations and back and forth but i figured it was just their process. The day before my daughters party, Sonja called asking if I could take the SnowKone and PopCorn machines a day early as it would be more convenient for them in avoiding traffic. This could not happen due to the party being the following and and there was no way to transport both machines. Long story short, the day of the party and nobody showed up from Partytime. I called and spoke to Ren (owner) who claimed that i had cancelled my order which is why it did not show up. After explaining the multiple convos w Sonjia and as recent as Friday, he then changed his story that all were rented for the GS Warriors victory parade and had not been returned. I met grump grandpa (the owner) and he was a great. I rented a margarita machine for my BBQ and it was a HUGE hit. I would highly recommend trying something like that for your next BBQ. Also the price was fair and grump grandpa walked me through the entire process of setting up and gave me some great tips on how to get the most out of the machine, such as premixing some extra mixer and keeping it in the freezer. read more

We just rented from Partytime Machines for my condo's ice cream social as part of the National Night Out program in our community. All I was looking for was a place to rent a freezer since we decided to go with pre-packaged treats. This was the only place in the area that I found that even had a freezer one could rent - I was so relieved! And at a really good rate. I spoke with Ren on the phone and he was accommodating and very helpful - he explained the policy of needing to make sure there was a dedicated 20amp outlet to power the machine. After a quick testing at my clubhouse to make sure there was one, I was ready to sign on. I had worked with Ren on the phone and Tori over email to sign a contract. I decided to pick up the machine myself and pay for them to pick it up for me (which was still a decent price). They are in a bit of a hard-to-find location, tucked away in a mecca of auto body shops, but now I know where they are. Ren even provided an extension cable, a dolly, and moving blanket all for no cost - what great customer service! Our event went smoothly and the were no melting ice cream treats. The only bummer was that after I had picked up the machine the day before my event, I got a call the day of my event saying they had shown up ready to pick up the machine - (uh, I haven't even had my event yet!) - Oh well, I guess it was a scheduling mixup - they still cheerfully came the next day (the correct day) for pickup and was nice that the person even asked how my event had gone. One other point, this is an old-fashioned business so they do the reserving over email - there is no encrypted site (my suggestion for future secure payments!) - and they did ask for credit card information over email which I was reluctant about providing since that's not really a secure thing. The strange thing is when I told Ren in person during my pick-up that I didn't like having to give my credit card info over email, he said they don't ask for credit card info over email. Huh? Well, whatever - it all worked out and at least now I know they can be trusted for my business in the future! read more
