Our first time at this restaurant. There's another Thai restaurant just a few doors down in the same shopping center. The service was good. Our server was quick to take our order and she checked on us constantly. Some reviewer calls this place cozy, cut, but we found the place unappealing. Food wise, we have to agree with some of previous reviewers' comments, "Overpriced for small portions." The $18 sizzling siam beef didn't come on a hot plate like the picture on their website. It came wrapped in tin foil. Also, as some of the previous reviewers had pointed out, they overcooked the beef to nothing. It was inedible, and we packed it home for our little friend. Same with the chicken in Rama in Jacuzzi which was overcooked, and it was very salty. The Pad Thai was ok. The noodle was a little chewy, and we had better Pad Thai elsewhere. Best Thai food I have had in a long time! The golden papaya and pad thai were particularly good. The restaurant is small and seems to have a lively carryout business, but we went early on a Saturday night and had zero problems with service or kitchen time. the portions are so small! we ordered the rockfish & a seafood plate. rockfish was a fillet (no where on the menu did it say fillet, most thai places serve rockfish as a whole, especially for $25, a fillet is the size of your hand! the seafood dish consist of 2 shrimp & 2 scallops, ordered 2 drinks, was still sooooo hungry! spend $80, i could have went to Flemings and got 3 course meal for 2 people for $80! the previous reviews are correct, there is no food on the plate. We ordered Siam Beef and Tofu Snow Peas. The beef was really good, but seemed a bit pricey at $17 and the Tofu Snow Peas well... lacked snow peas (instead a lot of mushrooms and other veggies). Both meals were small portions, but kind of liked that because I normally get too much food. I asked for hot tea and didn't expect to pay $4 for hot tea (normally free at Asian places). Service was a ok, but they had one of their kids at a table playing video games with sound up high enough that it kind of ruined the nice music playing. Overall, a bit pricey, food ok. Maybe there are other really good dishes, but probably won't come back as there are many options for Thai locally. read more

The Crispy Duck Curry with special Pasa Thay style curry is amazing! Pasa Thai's duck is lightly battered/fried and seated on top of a flavorful, mildly-spicy curry with pineapple and tiny tomatoes. With consideration to the quality, I feel like the menu price is appropriate. read more

This was by far the worst Thai restaurant I have been to. I should have known the outcome wasn't going to be good after I wasn't even acknowledged when I walked into the restaurant. The hostess was busy talking on her cell phone when I walked in, and then she proceeded to walk to the bar, knowing good and well that a new customer was in her restaurant. It wasn't long until a waiter saw me standing there, and then came to attend to me. As I ordered my food (to-go) from the bar, a lady came by to complain about her food. She was walking out, but she felt she had to complain about the inconsistency with her food. She had eaten there two days in a row and she was surprised why the same food she ordered the day before tasted completely different. You might ask why didn't I walk out after hearing the lady's review of her food, well I was so hungry and I didn't feel like driving around to find another Thai restaurant. I went ahead and ordered my food, and when I went back to my hotel room. When I arrived at the hotel, I realized I wasn't even given cutleries with my food. As for the food, the quantity was very light, the curry duck was absolutely not worth the 17 bucks, and the duck was poorly poorly cooked. Took my whole, out of town family for dinner and everyone loved their entrees. That doesn't happen often in my family. We were so happy when Thai finally came to McLean and very glad that their food has been so good that they have managed to stay open when so many other restaurants in McLean have failed. Went with a friend to this place last night. The food was absolutely delicious. My friend had the chicken cashew and I had the crispy beef with basil. The chicken cashew portion was pretty large and the crispy beef with basil was huge. We both had leftovers to take home. I especially like the crispy beef with basil because some Thai restaurants make the beef too crispy that you couldn't chew it. There was just enough crisp to the beef to make it crunchy and yet tasty. The hotness was just right not too spicy and not too bland. We had a coupon from one of the restaurant sites and the meal came to $9 each including the cost of the (7.50 each) coupon, tax and tip. The meal without the coupon would have been $36 ($18 a person). The restaurant was packed on a Friday night and all the dishes looked really good. The waiters would constantly check on us even though they were extremely busy. They were so friendly that I would go back again just to try other dishes! read more

Great Thai restaurant in McLean. Food is good and I love their local craft beer choices. Our family likes to sit on the patio with our kids and the dog. My only recommendation is that I wish they didn't serve their take out in styrofoam. The hot food melts the styrofoam and gives the food a bad taste. Probably not the safest to eat either. read more

Just had the pleasure of giving Pasa Thai a try (look at that... a rhyme) and was surprised. First off it had a pretty young hip sceen and ambiance (ahem.. by Mclean standards) which was nice for a change. Per a suggestion by a fellow yelper below I tried the Siam Beef and it was good. Seasoned to perfection but a little on the dry side (should be noted though that I got this as a take out dish which probably contributed to the dryness) it left me wanting to try more. We also had the green curry chicky and some spring roles which were pretty standard and a touch on the spicy side (despite what some yelpers claim..plenty spicy by my taste). overall good stuff and will definitely go back. read more

Very solid Thai food in a small, but well done, setting. I would put their food in the top tier vs. any of the standard local offereings (Tara Thai, Busara, etc.) - I found the food here spicier and generally fresher/better tasting. The service was very quick and the restaurant is relatively small but cozy and comfortable. The hostess and servers were all extremely friendly, as well. Had lunch with a friend. The service is prompt and friendly and the food is fresh. I ordered summer rolls and the steak salad. The summer rolls were unfortunately vegetarian. The salad was unapologetically spicy, which is a good thing. It also had a strong fish sauce flavor, perhaps a little too strong for American tastes. I don't think I'd drive all the way just to eat there but, if I'm in the neighborhood in the future, I know I have a good place to stop for a bite. read more

I've been to many Thai restaurants in Northern Virginia and this one remains the favorite of my family. Great dishes, well presented. The restaurant is well decorated and the staff is friendly and attentive. The only detractor I have for them is the TV over the bar is distracting (sometimes) to small children. Food is very good. I really like their panang curry and green curry. Their panang curry isn't too sweet, unlike most Thai places. My wife is Thai and she says they have items on the menu here that she's never seen anywhere else in this country. We eat Thai once a week and have tried most places in the area. Pasa Thai has great food, great service and great atmosphere.

Every time I have gone, the owner states his credit card machine isn't working. I go to the bank to get the money and of course my food is cold by then. He doesn't want to tell the customer they have a minimum amount they need to charge nor did he tell me over the phone. Never dealt with such an unprofessional place. Absolute Thai has never had these issues and have much better service. I will never go there again. read more

Had lunch with my family there for the first time. Service was good, but the food quality was not consistent. One dish was salty, one was bland. I was not happy when I got charge extra for two dishes. If the price is on the menu, a customer orders it, you don't charge a little extra when the customer didn't ask for anything special. Growing up in McLean I can testify that when this placed opened a few years ago I was eager to try- and I'm glad I did!! My favorite Thai dish is Panang Chicken Curry, and the one at Pasa Thai is my favorite in the area (way better than Busara's or Bangkok 54's). For apps I LOVE the crispy spring rolls and the chicken satay. Other entrees that are good are the Chicken and Beef Crispy Basil, and Panang Shrimp Curry. The only reason I'm not giving the full 5 stars is because I think their drinks are over priced. Other than that, I'm a HUGE Pasa Thai fan! read more

My husband and I are seafood and chicken lovers. I'm tired of reading about that Siam beef dish! My husband loves the crispy basil chicken but there are no veggies with it. I love any of the seafood dishes except any containing calamari which is not fresh. Papaya salad is really spicy but good. Their summer rolls and dumplings are always great starters. Yummy eggplant (that's the name of the dish) is terrific. They deliver and it seems like the food gets to our house as fast as if we ordered it there. The staff is sweet but there is some language barrier, but not annoyingly so. Oh and the McLean Blue martini? Love it! Sadly they changed the decor with these posters that at first blush look cool. They explain uses for herbs and spices but they get very graphic when it comes to the digestive system. read more
