Outstanding Thai spot within walking distance of where I live! Had never heard of this place, but a Facebook friend raved about the drunken noodles here, and I noticed the spot wasn't too far from me (within short walking distance of the Dunn Loring Metro stop in Merrifield near Vienna), so I decided to walk over and check it out. Went over a few Saturdays ago a little before 2 PM. Semi-small spot, but it wasn't busy, so plenty of seats were available and I was basically able to sit anywhere. (I'll point out that while they do serve beer and wine here, there is no bar area or TVs in the restaurant.) This is one of those spots where you have to access the menu through your phone--no paper menus (unless maybe you ask). Not too much of a problem for me because I knew what I'd come for: the drunken noodles. Not much for vegetables mixed in with my meat, so I ordered the beef drunken noodles with no veggies (except for basil, which I left in) and scrambled egg. Ordered at spice level 4 (extra spicy); spice levels range from 0 (not spicy) to 5 (Thai spicy). I love spicy food, but I was warned by the waiter not to choose spice level 5 (LOL), so I went with 4 just to be safe. Don't know if it was because they weren't too busy, but the noodles came out blazingly fast--in less than 5 minutes! And the noodles were excellent too--honestly, up there with some of the best noodles I've ever had! At a spice level of 4, you could feel the spice, but it wasn't bad at all. I think spicy food lovers would be perfectly fine at 4 or even 5. The noodles were also well-portioned and fantastic. The base price for the noodles was around $14. While most protein add-ons are no extra charge, the beef option was an extra $2, and adding scrambled egg was another $2. With taxes, the price for my noodles came out to around $20, which wasn't bad at all considering my add-ons. Customer service was good--the waiter was nice, prompt, and informative about the menu (which honestly isn't the easiest to navigate online). Great experience overall, and I was in and out of the restaurant in less than 25 minutes. Enjoyed my meal so much that I came back a couple days later for their Monday-Friday lunch special, where you get a free appetizer (chicken soup, tofu soup, or crispy veggie dumplings at the spice level of your choice) with any entree. Ordered the beef drunken noodles and chicken soup, both at spice level 5. Both came out quickly and were excellent. Also tried the recommended Thai iced tea for the first time, which was also very good. No complaints about Kiin Imm Thai--I see why they're so highly rated here, and I'll definitely be returning as a regular. Only regret is living within walking distance of this spot for over 3 years and not being aware of it. Unfortunately every dish except for the satay chicken was disappointing. The branzino fish was just ok but it had the most boring steamed vegetables and absolutely no sauce at all. The shrimp were heavily breaded and bland with the exact same boring steamed veggies. No flavor just boiled or steamed. The papaya salad is usually my favorite but this one was sweet. In fact all the dishes had sugar to a point where it could be tasted. I'm definitely disappointed given the great reviews and will have to stick with my tried and true Thai spots. read more

This has been one of my Thai go-to spots in NoVA. Service was really efficient despite the busy hour. The restaurant has a homey and it located next to the Dunn Loring Metro stop and is near Mosaic District. We ordered the Chop Chop Basil, Five-Star Branzino, and app of Crispy String Beans. might be one of my favorite Thai places in the DMV! The restaurants itself is smaller than others but beautifully decorated. I stop by on a Friday night and it was definitely busy. The menu is online via a scan code. I thought the prices for post of the entrees were decently priced. I ended up getting the chicken ka prow and lychee drink (in the summer menu!). The drink was good and not overpowering in sweetness. I really enjoyed the chicken ka prow & it was super flavorful, a little spicy, & the chicken was tender. My wife and I visited for a Mother's Day dinner on Saturday evening (around 6:15pm). We get takeout dishes from time to time, but it has been a while since we dined in. Kiin Imm Thai has lots of pluses. First, the interior is cute and cozy with a neighborhood bistro vibe. Second, the service was excellent. We tried the Ka Prow Chicken ("basil stir fry") at level 2 spiciness and Pad See-Ew beef at level 2 spiciness. Both were delicious with a side order of brown rice. However, if we could go back in time, I think we would have ordered a Level 1 mildly spicy version of Pad See-Ew instead. Overall, the highlight of the meal was dessert (Mango and Sticky Rice), which we both devoured and is . highly recommended if you're dining in. My husband and I live walking distance, so we thought we'd go have some drinks at casual pint before having dinner at Kiin Imm. I've only ever gotten takeout from here, so I was excited to see how the dine-in experience would be. The ambience is good for a cute casual date or dinner to catch up with a friend. There are a ton of faux plants and greenery with hanging lights and warm tones. There's a good mixture of booths and tables and a small counter to sit at. We were seated quickly with waters arriving quickly. However, the remainder of the service left something to be desired. We were a bit rushed to order and after every item (and there were 6 items lol) the server would ask "ok is that all?" The drinks and food came quickly, but asking for boxes, the check, and to pay the check took a lot of flagging. We were forgotten about a couple of times when asking for boxes, lid for Tupperware that wasn't there, the check, etc., and could see other groups looking around in confusion waiting for their server too (some we overheard complaining about missed items that never came out). As far as drinks, the Never Sleep was amazing. It's a mix of Thai iced tea and Thai iced coffee (both of which I LOVE). However, when we went back a few days later just for this drink, it just tasted solely like Thai iced tea and zero coffee. I also had the yuzu plum mocktail which was really good and refreshing! We ordered the panang curry (chicken), basil fried rice (tofu), and pad see ew (beef). The fried rice was the best of all. What I will say is we ordered 3/5 spice and it was NOT spicy at all. That was disappointing, but I've ordered 3/5 spice from them previously and they never give enough spice (even dishes they label as spicy!). The panang had wonderful flavor, but was a bit light on the chicken. It came with white rice which was great. The pad see ew beef was pretty tough and chewy, and overall it was VERY heavy on the fish sauce, didn't taste much soy (or dark soy). We ended up not eating it because it was just so strongly fishy. Ive gotten takeout from here before, and my recommendation would be the pad Thai, fried catfish (little overpriced but good), basil fried rice, and the fried green beens. What's nice is they give options for soft or firm tofu which I don't find often. I will also say that have added gratuity of 20% if you do not leave a tip (as shown on their website). I personally would never not tip even when frustrated with service (I think you should always tip for dine in), but given how other patrons were visibly frustrated, it's just something to consider when coming to eat here. I wouldnt come back to dine in, but I would get take out for very particular items that have been good before (as recommended above). I do wish they were true to spice levels I've had in other places here and in Thailand. And I do recommend maybe some fine tuning on service. read more

That's because it is. The tastes of soft pastries were good, good good, good good. I enjoyed my Curry Puff without the vinegar sauce myself. However, if there were an option, I would dip it into a blue cheese sauce or ranch dressing sauce. This might be looked at as sacrilege to die hard culinary enthusiasts, yet as they say, "varieties of spice of life." Veggie Spring Rolls $7.65: These three little pigs are not made if Pork incase you are confused. The are stuffed with Glass Noodles, Cabbage, Carrot, Celery, Taro and served with a Sweet & Sour Pineapple Sauce. This tasty appetizer was good, but I felt a pork option would greatly impact my taste buds. Guess I am a carnivore at heart at times. Kanom Jeeb Dumpling $8.75: Five Pieces of Minced Shrimp , Chicken, Cilantro, Corn, Garlic, Scallion wrapped in a thin Wonton Skin and steamed or deep fried to perfection?! It is also served with a Honey Soy Sauce. However, I can not remember having this on the second day. Nevermind, I went back to Kiin Imm Thai Restaurant to try this dish. Crispy Duck Rolls: $9.95 I had forgotten what Duck tasted like. Yet , prepared in the right hands, The Crispy Duck Rolls are sensational with flavor. Donald Duck, Daffy Duck and Darkwing Duck and Daisy Duck and even Scrooge McDuck would not be amused at the thought of eating duck...on second thought, most of them would most likely join in eating poultry. Some would be appalled, disgusted, repulsed, revolted, sickened, appalled, and nauseated...yes, Its so not nice I said it twice. I find this dish to be shocking, thrilling, spectacular, stunning, magnificent fantastic dramatic, superb and FABULOUS! The seasoning of the Crispy Duck Rolls is prodigious. The Duck sauce (if that's what it was) in one word to describe it..Kafkaesque. Personally, I thought about not getting my next order of it without sauce. I quickly abolished this idea, because the Duck Rolls need the small amount of sauce that goes on it. The Crispy Duck Roll melts in your mouth so to speak. It is the best appetizers I had on the second day of coming to this restaurant. I will be ordering The Crispy Duck Rolls again. Probably this coming Monday April 27th 2026. I look forward to trying out a few more items on the menu, or at the very least, some repeats items. 4/27/26 Okay, for the second time upon entering this business, I noticed the short haired lady who sits at service table is giving me the stink eye. I have come to think of her as Jabifa since I don't remember her name. If Jabifa's problem with me is the changing of a few items on the food menu, requesting no sauce on the food or not have the food spicy, then she is in the wrong business of food service. Speaking of food, I noticed the Nom Nom Pork Strips were different this time around. They did not look like the ones I had the last two times. They looked like the The Grilled Pork Skewers, but without the Skewers with less flavor than the last two times I had them. Ohh things have changed, but hopefully this is a fluke. We will see what happens within the next two times I revisit this business. Until that time, the overall experience for this place is a four star level. First time dining in! Very chill/cozy vibes for a Sunday night. Honestly loved all the food we ordered Duck Roll - Juicy, crisp, and light, apparently wrapped in roti, and I loved the dipping sauce! E-saan Beef Jerky - Not the usual beef jerky you're thinking of! This reminded me of the filipino beefsteak my mom used to make. Comes with a spicy sauce and sticky rice, but I actually enjoyed dipping the beef in the duck roll sauce. Chicken Larb - I was surprised about this one! Had a nice citrus twang and grainy texture from the rice powder For entrees, my favorites that I tried that I was surprised about was the Khao Soi and Moo Pok Pok. We also had the shrimp shu mai dumplings, which was also made well. The service is friendly and fast. 4.5 our favorite Thai restaurant near Fairfax (at the Dunn Loring metro). Reason for 4.5 is that the visit prior we just didn't like some of our choices. The last time we went back to our favorites and luckily it was delicious like usual. I'll say we don't enjoy the crispy duck here unlike some other good Thai restaurants. Almost anything else is great and we do like alot of their fried stuff like the Herbal Falls and crispy soft shell crab (seasonal). Pad see ew solid. Papaya salad very spicy and was so good. Review for another delivery. The papaya salad is a unique and tasty salad that has papaya and vegetables with peanuts in an enjoyable sauce. It's not a typical salad but it's a large portion of tasty food, I enjoyed it and will order again. The beef kra pow is a large portion of tender beef with peppers, basil, onions and some other vegetables with a side of rice. Everything was fresh and portion were large enough that I wasn't able to finish my entire meal even though I was pretty hungry. Updated review: The first review I gave Kiin Imm Thai a 4/5. That was through Uber. My son was so impressed, I told him to imagine going to the restaurant to eat the food fresh from the kitchen. I promised him Christmas Eve dinner here. So we came for Christmas Eve dinner around 5pm. The restaurant is tucked in the back of Avenir Place. I couldnt figure out the parking situation so paid $2.99 for under an hour parking. That was annoying but won't ruin dinner. The place was smaller than I expected but well lit and holiday decorated. Pretty empty for dinner time it was early and Christmas Eve. The menu is from a QR code. We decided on chicken satay, chicken drunken noodles, wonton soup (my son's choosing) and Ka Prow (Basil Chicken stir fry). The chicken satay and soup came out hot. And a minute later our entrees came out. Uhhh.... we kind of like to finish our apps before our entrees. The soup per my son wasn't salty/flavorful enough and he said the wonton's tasted bad. There were 4 wontons and a good amout of cabbage. I thought it tasted fine. Clean and not too salty. 5/10 per my son, I'd give it an 8/10. 6.5/10 avg. The chicken satay was hot and juicy. Really good Thai dinner. Got the pad see ew, herbal falls, and spring rolls to start. Mango sticky rice for dessert. Herbal falls was the standout, crispy fried broccoli and tofu. Pad see ew had great char on the noodles and delicious tofu. Spring rolls were light and crispy, exactly right. Mango sticky rice was a stunner. I was excited to dine at Kiin Imm because I have been to their Rockville location in the past. My friend and I ordered their duck rolls to start, and then I had their tofu pad see ew. I appreciated that they offer both soft and fried tofu (and don't think I've ever been to a Thai restaurant that offers soft tofu!). The duck rolls had the perfect amount of plum sauce, allowing the tender and moist duck flavor to still stand out. The pancake-like crust was also the perfect blend of crispy and soft. I felt like there could have been a bit more sweet sauce for the pad see ew, but the overall dish was still good. Thai restaurants are known for their intense spice levels. My friend ordered a dish that came with a 3/5 spice and I told her she might want 1 or 2. She took my suggestion and ordered a 1. I can see people wanting a 2 for a little more punch, but don't even want to think what levels 3-5 are The overall vibes and ambiance of this location is so different than the Rockville one. This place used to be one of my favorite Thai restaurants, and I used to visit almost once a week. Unfortunately, the food quality has gone downhill quite a bit recently. At first, I thought it was just a one-time issue, but after several visits, I realized this has become the new normal. First, the curry and noodle soup have become very bland. It's not a light or healthy flavor -- it tastes more like the soup has been watered down, possibly to cut costs. Second, the seasoning is often unevenly mixed into the dishes, which gives the impression that the kitchen is rushing and not paying much attention to quality control. The Chinese broccoli was especially disappointing. The vegetables were old, tough, and barely cooked, making them difficult to eat. It felt like they simply tossed the vegetables into the hot soup for a short time and hoped they would soften enough before serving. Honestly, I didn't feel satisfied after finishing the meal. Instead, I felt uncomfortable and disappointed with the quality of food being served. It no longer feels like they truly care about the food itself. Free parking is essentially non-existent in compact Dunn Loring, but since we came on the weekend, we were able to park in the nearby Metro garage for free. When we arrived around 2:30pm on a Saturday, there was just one other table occupied. The ambience was very comfortable, with pop music being played. We liked that we were given the option to sit anywhere we liked and that we were promptly seated with silverware, chopsticks, napkins and a hefty carafe of water. We were off to a great start! The Crying Tiger beef was excellent. Kiin Imm hit the nail on the head with the seasoning. Perfect! The tom yum soup was delicious and spicy. The tofu sticks were good, though a tad more salt on them would have been great. The dipping sauce that came with the tofu was fabulous, and JP kept stealing it for his dishes. The veggie spring rolls were nice, and I especially liked their tender flaky wrappers. I enjoyed the Kanom Jeeb, which rested atop a sweet soy sauce on the serving plate. They look somewhat like shumai. The Kanom Jeeb stuffing was delicious. This was my favorite dish of the day. The only oops during our meal was they forgot to bring me my black tea. Writing the orders down might help. But that situation was remedied. The black tea, accompanied by cream in a little cup was excellent. I absolutely love this Thai spot in Dunn Loring, a couple of lights away from Mosaic District. I came on a Friday evening and found that there was no wait to be seated. The interior was decorated for Valentines and the booth was so cozy and intimate. I ordered a shrimp pad Thai and a beef drunken noodle spice level 3 to go! That spice had a good kick and the beef was so tender! The pad Thai was sooo good, exactly what you'd expect from a thai spot, so authentic! My friend ordered vegetarian fried rice. I love their fried rice, but her vegetables came quite large on her plate. I think I would prefer the veggies to be smaller but it wasn't my dish. We love to watch The Signature Dish on the local PBS station and recently saw Kiin Imm Thai featured, so we gathered some friends and gave them a try for lunch on a weekday. The menu is quite large, with many stir fry, noodle, and even curry options as well as nearly every type of protein for each. The venue is nicely decorated and welcoming. Staff was friendly and helpful. They were moderately busy the day we went, but we didn't wait or have any slowness/delays. Ovreall, the food was good, not the best we've had, but good. The two best dishes we got were the chop chop basil chicken and the basil fried rice. Those two had the best heat and most flavor. The flavor of the massaman curry was good, but the beef was way too tough. The fish cakes were pliable and rubbery and didn't taste fresh at all. Overall... It was decent. Hopefully they aren't getting "too popular" from the TV attention and changing their style sand quality. read more

I had lunch at Kim Imm this week and loved it. The lunch special gives you a free appetizer. I had a delicious Tom Yum chicken soup (small bowl but very tasty). The special allows you pick an entree from an extensive list in several dining categories, and I chose a yellow curry with chicken. It was also delicious, and quite filling. For me, how a Thai restaurant does with yellow curry is the test of its quality, and Kiim Imm passed with flying colors. Delicious, reasonably priced and an attractive space in Dunn Loring. I got panang curry with tofu and we shared a plate of some fried green beans. The panang curry was really good, not too sweet nor spicy. The fried beans were surprisingly good as well, the seasoning or sauce on them made them really flavorful. The prices are super reasonable as well for the amount of food we got. The restaurant itself is not too big, but definitely does not feel cramped by any means. A very cozy place overall. Would definitely come back if craving thai in the area again. read more

Pookie and I ordered khao soi (as per the recommendation of my local foodie friend) and fish cakes to-go. The former was delicious because it was not overly salty nor too creamy. The chicken was nicely cooked as well, and the meat came right off the bone. The fish cakes were a nice snack, and I enjoyed the house-made fish sauce that came with it. We also ordered the guava minty sparkling soda which was refreshing and hit the spot. Everything was nicely portioned and reasonably priced. Service was quick. I enjoyed this meal! read more

Came here for the first time with friends a couple weeks ago! Cute and clean interior, and everyone we encountered was very nice! While the food is good. They label their menu for allergies, and mark the containers... I don't think they are well trained on actual gluten allergies. I am not that sensitive, usually okay with some cross contamination. But got extremely sick after eating here. If you look at the "Find Me Gluten Free" app, they have a 50/50 score of being careful. So I assume only some of the staff might be well educated. So I recommend avoiding this place if you're gluten sensitive. read more
