My friend and I were in the mood for Thai and this was the second time getting delivery from them. Oh Again, I have to reemphasize the food and the flavor profile are great, but the portions are on the smaller side and my friend agreed about the smaller portions. We shared an order of the steamed dumplings and a papaya salad to start and then we got a Pad Pak with tofu, which is a stirfry with veggies and in a garlic sauce and a Pad Kaprow with chicken, which is a stirfry with peppers in a chili basil sauce. Charming Thai restaurant. The feel is somewhere between a diner and restaurant. Smaller size location, with a medium size menu. The service was very kind and attentive, and our server was very clear communicating when ordering. The broad noodles were not premade precut, but the better flat/pan kind. Flavor and spice levels were not wildly off the chart. We ordered medium, and it was just that. Those with lower tolerance can lower the spice and use the spice rack as desired. Not having a large menu likely means they focus on what they do well, and I suspect most everything on their menu is solid. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, was because it lacks that last extra "wow" that would mean putting this at or near the top of my list. That said, if I am nearby, I would pick this because it's good, and can't go wrong here. Fresh ingredients, clean tasty recipes, and moderate portions make this a solid choice for decent expectations. I can understand why the ratings are relatively high. I like all the spice level options. If you can't handle spicy food, just about everything here can be pretty mild. If you like it spicy, check the "very hot" box. I had a business lunch at Happy Thai this week and I was really impressed by the food. I ordered the lunch pad Thai which came with either pot stickers or spring rolls. I ordered the pot stickers. I always appreciate the friendly service, variety, and delicious food. Drunken noodles, pad thai, pad see ew, basil fried rice are all in my recommendations for this place. Don't judge the book by its appearance! The buildings around here do indeed look sketchy and old, but when you come inside, it is cozy. There are not that many seats as many people do take outs here. I went here with a friend. I had the Pad Thai, he had something with wide noodles. The food was ok, not bad or amazing. What really surprised me was the portion sizes. Normally, when you order Pad Thai, they bring out a plate with a small mountain on it. The portions here were pretty small, and the prices were not adjusted accordingly. Crispy duck kapow - The flavors are so good, but I wish it was crispier. Papaya salad - Love that it comes with grilled shrimp. It has the perfect balance of flavors. This my kinda place! I stopped in the other day for lunch and I was very happy!! This restaurant has a nice comfortable atmosphere and clean tables with a really nice young lady who runs the place. She seems to have endless energy and smiles as she greets both dine-in and carry-out customers in addition to judging the phone orders and serving guests. The menu has a broad range of dishes that I think should satisfy most people searching for Thai food, and the weekday lunch specials are reasonably priced. I went with the lunch special basil fried rice with pork - served with a spring roll for a nice meal. I thought the dish was very good - tasty and with enough heat as it should have, but not overpowering heat. Since this was only my first time at this restaurant I've only been able to sample one dish, but I will definitely be back again and I look forward to enjoying more items on the menu! I will admit I wasn't super into the "dining room" but this place seemed to be doing a LOT of takeout (we were the only sit downs, we were waiting out some traffic after picking up family at Dulles). The Moo Ping came first and was served with sticky rice and a delightful tangy sauce which I believed was topped with roasted rice powder. The skewers were excellent and definitely a highlight of the meal. The Drunken Noodles included chicken, red peppers, fresh Thai basil, and a little salad. I ordered medium spicy, which was appropriately spicy and definitely woke me up. The little salad was a welcome addition to offset the heat from the dish. We ordered five items: 1) Crying tiger steak 2) Pad kaprow 3) Green curry 4) Drunken noodles 5) Mango sticky rice. The crying tiger steak served with sticky rice, steamed vegetables and spicy dipping sauce. This dish I really enjoy. The marinated slice pulled steak was tender and delicious. The green curry with fill with umami and depth in flavors on your palate. The drunken noodles were tasty and piping hot. The pad kaprow was okay. It lack flavor and the meat was a little dry.
