I've been going this place for all of my smog tests since I've moved to Pasadena/LA County. I'm lucky that I found them on Yelp because when I moved out here, as a female that's unfamiliar with cars and maintenance, I was nervous that I would be taking my car to a shady place that would overcharge me and try to get me to do things to fix my car to pass the smog test and I wouldn't know any better. Especially because it was the first time I would have to complete a smog test before my registration renewal, which had a due date that was within weeks of the smog test. BUT I'M HAPPY TO REPORT THAT THE REVIEWS DON'T LIE! I've always felt so comfortable going here-- the price is great, they're fast, hospitable, and I've never had any problems. I'm only now writing a review for them because I am due for another smog test in the next month and I always go to Yelp to check on recent reviews and confirm their hours and address--which I have been doing every year for the past seven years. Came in. Took my car. Failed it and send me back in 2 minutes. Not happy. At least inspect the car tell me it won't pass. My car has very lows miles. Less then 23,000 and they made it fail. Great and fast, I was done in 5 min. They don't use tailpipe inspection, but uses a new one that I don't know about. But basically they insert a cord near the drivers seat, and reads the data that your car gives off. Price was 60 in total, including the certificate, but I got a 20 off discount just mentioning yelp, so it cost me 40. I asked if I should check in with yelp, he said its fine. When I Yelped for a smog check in Pasadena, Pasadena Test Only & Smog Check was the top rated listing (five stars, 168 reviews.) I figured since the rating was so good and it was in my neighborhood, I might as well stop by. I got into my car and saw that it was 10:40am, and I decided that my goal was to get back home by 11am (yeah, right.) And with an emergency oil ingestion repair, I was convinced more drama was in store. I gave Allen @ PTO the long story. He explained the current test no longer involves dyno-tailpipe testing; only the car computer is tested. After noticing I had my own code reader tool, he asked me about the readiness monitors. I replied they were all good. He took out his own professional level tool and verified it himself. A nice touch to ensure the car would likely pass during an official test.
