Week 18/52 in my endeavor to try one new (to me) local spot per week. And yes, I'm aware we're past week 18 but my drafts are overflowwwin' y'all! Like most Seattleites, I've heard about Paseo time and time again. Before a Mariners game, my husband and I were looking for a pre-game bite. Paseo is close to the stadium, so I suggested that and there we went! They've got great outdoor seating, but ample indoor as well. The menu was a little overwhelming, and I couldn't decide if I wanted a bowl or a sandwich, but I ended up landing on the #1 - the Famous Caribbean Roast, rated the Best Sandwich in America (by someone)! The kicker here is that I DESPISE getting my hands dirty. I order bowls, scrambles, etc. anything that gets me out of making my hands messy. Me ordering this sandwich was a big deal! But I felt that I had to do it to truly experience Paseo. Our order was called out over the intercom since we sat outside. Snagged it quickly and easily. My husband loved his bowl and raved about the pickled jalapeños. The sandwich was EQUALLY (if not more) delicious. Absolutely phenomenal. Tender, flavorful meat adorned with cilantro, pickled jalapeños, caramelized onions, and romaine. My husband was 100% in the RIGHT hyping up those pickled jalapeños. Good lord I could eat them by themselves! I should've got more! Soooo good. My hands were an absolute trash mess and after I devoured my sandwich I was having a tiny panic attack at how messy I was, but you know what? I was WORTH IT which is the highest accolade I can give! We sat outside to eat which was enjoyable and would be good for groups at the picnic tables - minus the occasional loud bus sounds. The biggest con is that parking is paid (~$4 for a few hours) and that sides are not included with the sandwiches. The sandwiches are pretty big, but with adding the fries (which are essential - they are SO good), the cost drives up. For two sandwiches, two cocktails, fries, and tip, it was ~$63 It was a good sandwich but I wouldn't make it my regular spot since it's pricey! I've been trying to hit all of Seattle's Caribbean sandwich / food shops to try to find the best, and Paseo is definitely high up on the list. I visited the one in Sodo and was able to find street parking on a weekend afternoon. I split the press sandwich, shrimp sandwich, and tostones with my partner. The press was very tasty - meat was juicy and tender, banana peppers gave it a nice tangy touch. The shrimp sandwich had a good amount of shrimp and tons and tons of carmelized onions. Both sandwiches dripped everywhere and got my hands dirty, but boy are they delicious. Tostones were yummy too! read more

One of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Grilled sweet onions, garlic aioli, jalapeños, lettuce, and a sweet and salty marinated pork belly, with the best crispy bread. The prawn sandwich and chicken thigh sandwich were bad. Paseo used to be fantastic, at least when it only had the location on Fremont Avenue anyway. The prawn sandwich was amazing. I haven't been here in a long time, and boy things have changed. The prawns were pale and rubbery - they were clearly from those bags of cheap imported saline and preservative soaked prawns that you find at Costco etc. Because they're soaked in saline and chemicals, they don't sear, and the taste and texture are just bad. If Paseo can't offer a prawn sandwich that tastes good, that is good quality, for a price that people will pay, they should take it off the menu. To make matters worse, the onions weren't fully caramelized. They were still half uncooked. The chicken sandwich was just bland and boring. read more

Husband has been getting Paseo delivered to his work for a while now and I finally got the opportunity to try it! It was just as good as he told me. We both got the Caribbean Roast sandwich and shared an order of fries. The bread for the sandwich way on point! Having a crisp crust substantial enough to handle the load of juicy roast pork. Delicious! My favorite sandwich is the cod, but I haven't tasted one I didn't like. The owner is also amazing. I came in after the pandemic and she was giving away free food to everyone that came in. She didn't advertise it, she just rang people up as $0 after their order was placed and thanked them for keeping their business open through the pandemic. We've been to the original in Fremont under the original owner, and then again under new management. This was the first time trying this location in SoDo. Overall the roast pork was tender and juicy, just as we remembered. But.. somehow the Caribbean Roast sandwich didn't seem as tasty as what I remembered. Maybe it needed more garlic aioli or jalapenos....something was missing from the flavor profile I remembered in years past. The West Caribbean Bowl was solid and really good. I did come across a bone in the pork, so just be careful when eating. The Caribbean Fries had nice seasoning slight kick but also a slight sweetness. The Tostones were the most disappointing. First time trying them and they were really dry and lacked flavor. Even the dipping sauce couldn't save these fried plantains...won't order them again. read more

I recently Grub Hubbed their famous roasted street corn (absolutely most delicious roasted corn I've had in a long time), the Caribbean Plato with roasted pork (not delicious), an order of tostones (best when eaten hot) and chips and salsa (chips were fresh and also delicious. This is the second time I had their roast pork and for a second time, it was flavorless. Straight up, it was so narly I gave the plate to my son after two bites. I have had this spot bookmarked for a while now. Finally was in the area and had the opportunity to stop by. Ordered a jambalaya and a cod sandwich...the prices seemed fair at the time of ordering until you actually get your food. Jambalaya portion is small and consists of mostly sausage. Only two shrimp and a piece of fish that was hard to eat with the eating utensils I was given. Fish sandwich was mostly bread and sandwich fixings, not much fish. I dont think I would visit again. Plastic dividers have been added at the counter so the employees and customers can be distanced. When I received my order of four Caribbean roasts, I received it in a paper bag with handles. Normally this wouldn't bother me, but I could see that the combination of the weight of the sandwiches and the oils/juices that had leaked were causing the bag to buckle. Since I noticed, I carried it carefully to my car, but was annoyed I had to and that I had to set that in my car. However, onto the sandwich review. The sandwich was delicious! Yes, I agree that the pork isn't as flavorful as the original Paseo but it's still a really good sandwich. I really want to keep this review short for a place that has simple menu and just ****ing amazing Caribbean chicken sandwiches. I have tried all of their locations several time. Their baguettes are perfectly toasted and buttery - yet not something that would cut through your gums with their toastiness. The chicken thigh are slow cooked and just melt in your mouth. The carmelized onions are soo sweet and juicy and with the aioli in the sandwich...just heaven. I have also had their bowls and shrimp sandwiches. The chicken thigh for me has been the winner over last two years and doesn't seems like that is changing any time soon I would love for it to be more spicy but that is totally a personal preference. read more

Paseo is one of those places where it's a highly recommended must try place if visiting Seattle, I'm a native and finally got around to trying it. So I've been to Florida where there's a huge Cuban population serving authentic Cuban sandwiches, and even my friend from Florida agrees that there's better Cuban sandwiches here. The true true form of Cuban sandwiches is just the piece of flatten bread with basic ham and cheese, here at Paseo, they have varieties of meat and toppings. The most popular sandwich here would be their #1 roasted pork sandwich, it's super flavorful, but it's also super messy. Make sure you either roll up your sleeves or wear a short sleeve shirt because the juice be dripping down to your elbows. I took it home to eat because I wanted to be in the comfort of my home eating like a slob hahaha This is located in SODO district, it's connected to a parking lot but only the 5 spots right in from of the shop is free, the rest is a paid lot so make sure you read the signs. We came to Paseo on a Saturday afternoon for lunch before going to some local breweries. I am a huge fan of Cuban food so I was very excited to try this place to see if it lived up to the hype. My husband and I each ordered one of their infamous sandwiches; I ordered the Caribbean roast sandwich and he ordered the pork shoulder sandwich. We also ordered some street corn to share. We both agreed that my sandwich was the better of the two but with that being said, both were out of this world. You can't go wrong with either one. It was the perfect ratio of bread to filling with a wonderful balance of spice and flavor. So so so so good! If I was a local, I could easily see myself eating here at least once a week. read more

Stopped by before a Marniers game. Absolutely no wait, type of place where you order first then find a seat which was super easy lots of space with outdoor seating and a bar. Food came out within 15min. Jambalaya was well flavored with lots of depth you get to pick your spice level and a 3 was spicer then average. The famous sandwich was huge and meat was extremely tender could have used a sauce on the side for dipping. Margarita flight was also well made. My go to here is the West Carribean Bowl with extra jalapeños!!! The sandwiches are long written about and probably the staple of the place but the Bowls are something to be rivaled! I know about Paseo's original location but their SoDo location is much closer for me so I hoped that flavor would be the same between the two locations. There are 30 minute parking spots right in front but if those are full there is a paid parking lot in the same lot. I got the famous Caribbean roast ($10.95) which was stacked with juicy pork shoulder! It was so juicy and there was so much of it that it fell off the sandwich onto the plate. The jalapeños added a bit of spiciness and the long strands of onions added a nice sweetness for balance. I also got the prickly pear lemonade which was nice to cut through all the fat and all the other flavors of the sandwich. Came here for a work lunch and we were actually able to find parking for once. This place is typically overflowing with Mariner fans on game days. I ordered the number one sandwich which is the standard pork sandwich but it was definitely not just a "standard" sandwich in my book. The sandwich came with succulent juicy pork layers. The jalapeños in it gave it just a bit of kick. I would share any of their sandwiches next time because they are so densely packed that I was full past dinner. The service is extremely fast here. I also got a ice tea and it was one of the best tasting teas I've gotten in a long time. The tea came with floral notes and not watered down like most places. Definitely would recommend. read more

We sat in the bar area since it was the only space for a large party, but it was comfortable (although their speaker seemed to have blown out every time they tried to play some music). Food: Got the #1, tostones, and a lemonade. Others got the chicken breast, chicken thigh, and fries. The sandwiches came out much wetter than expected, but it was still delicious and worth the mess (those pieces of onion are amazing). Tostones and fries were delicious and the lemonade was the right choices as the tartness cut through the heaviness of everything else. Overall, a great place to stop by and grab some food! This has been on list to try for a while but finally got around to it recently. Overall I liked it and would go back. Food: It was a toss up between the Caribbean roast and prawns sandwich but went with the former to share with hubby. We ordered that plus fries for delivery. The food arrived warm and the fries were still crisp which was impressive. I did not like that the sandwich was dripping grease which was a little shocking. Maybe the meat is really fatty? That said it's a good tasting sandwich. The meat was well seasoned and I loved the crunch of the romaine and the pickled jalepenos. Everything worked together quite well. Fries were good but not the best fries I've ever had. Docking a star because the second time I went I ordered the prawns sandwich which I didn't like at all. A little surprising honestly. The fries were crispy & golden on the outside and piping hot on the inside; just the way I like it! 5 stars on those fries. The corn, on the other hand, can use some work. Initially, it was love at first sight. Then I took a bite, then another and another. I kept biting because I was baffled on how something that looked so amazing had so little flavor. 3 stars. Recently, I decided to try their Jambalaya. It did not disappoint! Every bite was an explosion of flavors in my mouth! The sauce was incredible! I didn't know Paseo opened another store. The third store is located in SoDo. I visited early at 11:30AM to avoid any possible big crowds for lunch. I ordered #1 Famouse Carribean Roast, #2 Paseo Press, and #3 Grill Pork. I had to wait more than 15 minutes to get my order because they seemed to have many orders coming in from food delivery services app (guessing - UberEats, Postmate, etc.) Sandwich was decent - I think it should definitely be - considering the price I paid for the sandwich. Could be better if the sandwich is not too greasy - it was almost soaked in oil. Parking is a big problem there because they only have a few designated parking spaces for the customers.
