I don't remember who told me about El Pirata but wow this was an unexpected gem of a find and I am only half upset that I ate everything too quickly to take pictures for my review. The shop is itself is almost no more than a stand hidden away in a building across from Bank of America, no seating as far as I could tell. Their menu, as one might imagine, features both tortas (think sandwiches) and burritos. Of those, I tried the El Cubano, La Bamba and El Diablo (and cannot wait to try the rest). I stopped by here while I was in Georgetown w my hubby. After all, I was at a loss for what to order after looking at the menu So I asked the store staff for recommendations. And we ordered Super Burrito chicken and one is spicy one. There are various menus, so if it's your first time like us, it would be helpful to check online or the menus I posted. And the parking lot is only street. Basically, takeout, quick service here like a food truck. Freshly made burritos are warm, heavy, and large in size. We could only eat half of it. Great great great Birria Burrito. Just a storefront with no inside seating, just a few benches outside so it's kinda just a step up from a taco truck. But if taco trucks are your thing (and they ARE my thing) it's even better than a truck. And the burrito was DELICIOUS and the salsa was perfection - I just wish Id asked for more than one container of it because it was so good. This is a really nice block in Georgetown with great Vietnamese coffee around the corner at Voi CA Phe and the the awesome Fantagraphics bookstore and a groovy vintage shop plus another one that offers soft serve. It's been a minute since I went here but I think it's even better than I remembered! The Mac salad this time was more flavorful. Not sure what they did to it but typically I almost begrudgingly eat that stuff when it comes with meals (like when I get Hawaiian food) but I couldn't stop eating this one! I also tried the strawberry flan today. The flan on top was suuuper rich. Highly recommend, especially for the price. Lastly, the El Diablo sandwich was spicier (but not too spicy) than last time which I actually appreciate because that was my only complaint last time that it's called El Diablo but it wasn't spicy. friday late afternoon driving through georgetown on my way back to west seattle and i made an impromptu stop at el pirata so i didn't have to think too much about what to eat for dinner. ordered the el diablo torta, minus the chorizo and got a side of the macaroni salad. both were tasty! order came out quickly and there's definitely a lot to choose from on the menu. if you're walking around georgetown and have a hankering for take out mexican this is a solid take out option to know about. nice person at the window and good food at the end of a long work week, so no complaints! read more

No place to sit down to eat and with summer just around the corner to you the owner you have to put out some sort of shade (umbrella or something) our backs almost burned in the hot son yesterday. In case you don't know your bench that we sat at the foot rest is broken change it. We had to get in our truck to eat our very tiny portions of food, but most importantly folks you have to pay for parking on top of everything else. Don't go here unless you are ready to drop some money left and right. Sorry not sorry but to the owner cater to your customers a little more as in show you actually care just a tad more than you do. Food was ok I guess? But for me I don't think I'll go back. I enjoy sitting inside and enjoying the ambiance of a place I just dropped a large amount of money at. This place is part of the Valhalla sandwich shop chain. I thought it was an independent shop until I recognized the branding. It's a to-go window with a couple benches in front. Personally, I wish that the sandwich was larger for the price and the macaroni salad had more flavor. I preferred Valhalla. The person working the window was very kind and service was quick. Friend took me to El Pirata Tortas Y Burritos and told me it was the best Cuban sandwich he had ever had. So I ordered the El Cubano. And he was right, I thought it was the best Cuban sandwich ever! It was beyond delicious! Nice thick piece of pork that was very tender and full of flavor. I got the mild salsa which was delicious and just the right amount of, "pica". Will definitely go back. Wow. The El Diablo Torta with shrimp and cheese (blue cheese?) is an incredible mix of flavors. I haven't had chorizo balanced with shrimp often (or ever?) and the combination of "surf and turf" is brilliant, and somehow contrasts incredibly well with the chipotle aioli. It's a huge burst of flavor. The bread was soft, the portion large and filling for the price, and service super friendly. Oh - the chocoflan is amazing. Probably one of the best I've had in the city. Flan part is super custardy and not too sweet and very milky. The cake part, which I often find dry and lacking in flavor in similar combinations, was rich and had a tender crumb. Hidden gem of a place in Georgetown! This used to be Lorena's Kitchen but then became a Walk up window that does mexican Tortas and burritos! The Cubano is my usual go to torta and has a nice piece of pork belly and sliced ham with cheese and pickles. It's not a classic pressed cuban sandwich but this version is still delicious! Skip the fries and get the mac salad, which is not like your traditional regular mac salad from other restaurants but still good. The Tortas are on the smaller side. We got the El Diablo and La Bamba and though the ingredients were good on their own, I can't say I enjoyed the flavors working together. We ordered online for a quick pick up (within 15 minutes) so definitely a good place to grab lunch if you're in the area. We were able to easily grab our food from the window. True 5***** Story: On my way home, I see this cute little Tortas Spot on the corner of, 12th and Bailey S. Immediately I loved it...Andreque didn't look a bit bothered he was welcoming smiling and ready for my order. Although technically they were closed he told me what was available to order. This was my first time trying a torta and honestly was kinda disappointed. It's rather small for $13 and it was pretty bland. I tried the asada torta and it didn't have the signature flavorful asada taste. Also, they had these pickled jalapeños on the sandwhich and they had a horrible taste and ruined the sandwich. I will say the ingredients seemed fresh. I may try a different sandwich and omit the jalapeños if I'm in the area and want something quick. read more

They've been open 2 months but now have flags in the ground that definitely make it more visible. I stopped by today and got the chicken habanero as a burrito. This thing was an amazing size and SO DELICIOUS. I had beans and rice added as well per the recommendation of the counter clerk. The flavors were so good. The avocado and chicken were so fresh.
