Spicy is truly a kicker as expected!. The mild tender has a gentle kick to it but the buffalo was definitely disappointing out the of three-- it tasted closer to boiled chicken drenched in buffalo sauce. It's about 6 tenders for the price of 3 tenders for 20$ or maybe I just lucked out today! Out of all the chicken based places ive been to, this spot is top tier. I cant decide if the most vibrant time to visit is during night or during the day. If its a nice day they open the sliding windows which creates a really fun indoor outdoor dining experience. While at night, the illuminated decor really mezmorizes. The parking situation only adds to the club ascetic. Its very limited street parking so theres a chance youll have to park a block so so away. As you approach youll probably hear the music bumping and conversations more and more. You might even have to wait in a long line thats wraps around. When you finally get to the front youll be grated by great personalities ready to help you. Their menu is pretty simple. They offer chicken tender based dishes along with several options for side dishes. For each main dish youll get to pick a sauce. All of these menu items are displayed on their big and bright monitors. The food isnt cheap, but it is beautiful and delicious. All of my chicken was so juicy. Oddly Half of one of my tenders did have a weird chewy/dry texture while still being juicy. Either way my food was extra saucy by default just how I love it. I made so much mess I wish I used a fork and knife instead of just my bare hands. Overall I really feel like this place delivers. Idk if the people who run this spot really care about customers and food or if they or just following some really cool template. I just hope they keep up the good work. Houston Hot Chicken is a great addition to the food scene near the Pacific Science Center. They had a very interesting atmosphere inside, pretty dark aesthetic but with some shiny embelleshments. The restaurant was relatively small but had ample seating inside for about 30. The staff were really nice and kept checking in on every group of diners inside to make sure their experience was great. I've tried a few and have to admit the crunch factor, seasoning and value one gets for their sandwich meal is worth it. Located off Denny Way, finding parking could be tricky but those that venture out to Seattle Center, Space Needle or even a show or game at Climate Pledge can easily take a short walk to get to the restaurant. With friendly staff, clean environment and large space, you can come with family or friends to enjoy a meal. I came here with my husband. If this is any indication of how good hot chicken is in Houston, then there's no incentive for me to go visit anytime soon. The chicken had great flavor and heat, let's get that out of the way first. I ordered buffalo and my wife got medium, and there was good heat on both. But the sauces and heat did a decent job mashing the stringy dried chicken. The chicken wasn't juicy at all, and it tasted chewy and old. The mac, for an extra dollar add-on, was soup. Macaroni pieces hidden in a soup of golden melted cheese. It was not bad, but damn, I had to go fishing in that bowl of liquid cheese. Probably a nightmare for someone that's lactose intolerant (my case is ok, but it was a bit too much that I couldn't finish it). Honestly, the sauces were the saving grace for this chicken. There's parking on the street in front of the restaurant . The restaurant is spacious with a lot of seating. It was cleaned with floors nicely polished. The menu board is bright and colorful. The workers were all smiling and cheerful. Now for the food. The chicken itself is real , not some indescribable patty. It's crispy outside and moist inside. It's fried and topped with gooey cheese sauce. Then it has like a pickled coleslaw which made the chicken sandwich kick it up a notch. The buns were toasted, a plus. When we were sitting there was an extra shake that was made and they gifted it to us! I thought this was such a nice gesture. They don't blend the syrups into the shake which I also thought was an interesting approach. All of the workers were so nice and helpful throughout my time inside HHC. First visit was LATE night as heck, as in 2am - no joke! This was an impressive visit. Initially I was sketched out about parking due to the time of day and amount of transient folks, but it was fine. I absolutely love that they have a set that includes 1 chicken sandwich, 1 tender, and fries - (this is like my dream combo) which I got, and we also got a 2-piece tender set with fries. I got spice level spicy (comparable to habanero), and the 2-piece was medium. The SHU difference is 120K. I was very happy with my spice level, the medium level tastes like nothing (to me! personal opinion). I would not try their highest level (it's a $2 surcharge plus waiver), but I would try the next level which is called liftoff at 600K SHU. Everything was tender and tasty. I liked their fries too! Even at 2am; the service was attentive and fast. The staff was funny, thoughtful, and on top of things. I was really surprised by the quality of service, food and cleanliness. 5/5 highly recommend. The medium chicken tenders were extremely spicy and no amount of house sauce made it pleasant to enjoy these tenders. Pretty decent Nashville style chicken! Tried this today, and I'll be transparent, I had kinda low expectations because I saw a prominent food influencer who I trust say they did not care for it. I thought the flavor was pretty good. It was spicy and even a little sweet and definitely salted well. The breading was pretty crispy and crunchy in some areas, but a little softer in others. I would say if you're gonna get a sandwich (especially the one with the slaw), I would recommend eating it fresh. I don't see it holding up without getting soggy if you left it in the box for too long. I tried it in my car right away and it was good. The nuggets were crispy and the perfect bite size, plenty of meat in those things. The house sauce was a nice surprise, it was a little spicy too. It seemed like a saucy/mayo version of their spice rub, just adding more of the same flavor plus some creaminess to my nuggets. The staff was very friendly and helpful, great service!
