Took it upon themselves to cancel a tow because we didn't call back..... after they knew car had flat tires. We tried calling back since we missed there call over noise from the cars speeding by in the background and they wouldn't answer the call back. If only I could give them ZERO STARS. I have AAA and called to have my car towed from the front of my house to my mechanic 30 miles away. They spent 10 minutes lecturing me that it was the battery and they could just fix it. I said no I want it towed to my mechanic for them to assess what is wrong. At which point he told me I had to ride from North County down to San Luis with him. I refused, the point of a tow is that you take my car for me and I stay home. The mechanic knew the car was coming. He then refused to take my car and left. I then called AAA back and told them what had happened so they are looking for a new towing company to come out to take care of it. Not sure why AAA or anyone would ever use this company. read more

I called AAA on 12/6/2018 for a tow from the Walmart parking lot in Paso Robles.. They sent Pete Johnston Towing who arrived in less than 10 minutes. I was greeted by the friendliest guy ever. His name was Eli. Eli asked where he would be towing my car. I informed him it needed to go to my mechanics shop in Templeton. Without hesitation he put my car on his flatbed truck, and asked if I would be going with him because the repair shop was closed for the day. I said yes and that my husband would pick me up from there. it was after 7pm and dark outside. I thanked Eli for the tow and the ride. He was so very professional and was not about to leave me until my husband arrived. He was genuinely concerned for my safety. I am very grateful for Eli's compassion. My Honda CRV needed to be towed from our driveway. Called AAA and they told 1 hr. Within 30 mins, Bernie from Pete Johnston Towing called to say he was about 5 mins away. Navigating up a tricky driveway, he had no problem getting my car jumped, well positioned to get on the truck bed. We drove to Paso Robles Auto Repair. He unloaded car gracefully and parked it right in front of the mechanics. Bernie was super attentive, helpful, and kind. A+ service and customer service. Highly recommended. read more

Where do I begin? My sister was killed trying to help someone at a traffic accident. CHP without asking next of kin, had her towed to Pete Johnson. The car was not even involved in the accident or investigation. We made calls to Pete's the day of the incident but they wouldn't release unless there was a death certificate. Yet they had never dealt with this kind of case and really had no clue what they were doing. In the meantime we were being charged a 70 daily fee. The grieving family was not allowed to get her car despite all the records we had. We showed up the next..all 5 family members exhausted from the ordeal and we were told we were bugging them with all our calls. We explained again we had just tragically lost a family member but Pete didn't seem to care. After an hour we were finally able to get a CHP officer to call Pete and release the car. We had to pay $500! In towing fees for a 5 mile towing distance. You bet I will be blasting this every where! What a terrible way to do business making money off someone's tragedy. Really..there are no CHP laws about charging a dead Good Samaritan $500 towing fee for a 5 mile distance. You feel you have done your part not charging us $140. Well good for you. The owner was rude and disrespectful to us..we were still in shock and grieving. He said we were bothering him. No, it doesn't take 24 hours to release a car. There are no CHP regulations because they told us so. Your owner is heartless. read more

Dealing with a company like this means your already not having a good day, but to then have to be subjected to the worst customer service I have ever received in my entire adult life. Both the woman who man's the front desk and the yard manager were rude and impatient when interacting with me and seemed to try any angle possible to keep me from gaining access to MY vehicle and the personal items inside it. All of my clothing and hygiene, as well as personal photo albums and even my prescription medication was inside the vehicle and they wouldn't even allow me to get my medication out of the vehicle...it was like pulling teeth to get a respectful response it off her. I asked to double check that I didn't forget anything important in the vehicle and she told me no that my 15 minutes was up and I wouldn't be allowed to access the vehicle let alone take anything else, it was theirs now. read more

First of all I am not looking for any handout, but want everyone to know the driver they sent who i met about half way was honest, And said to me and my passenger there would not be any charge to my passenger and myself due to they didn't hook up to anything. The CHP dispatched C&D towing who got the location 20 to 3o minutes earlier than Pete Johson Towing even got close to location where met up with them for reception. I noticed on my charge they tried to charge us $150 and then they credited it back and turned around and charged us $250 which according to the driver there would be nweo charge. The company the driver er no longer works there, as a likely story. MY Ponit is I would not trust what they say and would highly recommend using another towing company in Paso Robles area, before them, they need to know they are not the only game in town and learn to listen are care what customers are saying. I was staying at a hotel in Paso Robles on the evening before Labor Day and my car wouldn't start. Originally I was told that my positive terminal needed to be replaced and I would have to bring my car to a mechanic. Because of the Labor Day weekend, no mechanics were open. When I ended up with a blowout flat tire on the entrance ramp to the 101. I called AAA and they dispatched this service to help me. I received a call right away and was told that due to the time and number of calls they received it would be about 45 minutes before they could get to me. After about 45 minutes two of their flat bed trucks showed up and the two men got to work changing my tire and getting me back on the road. All was fine until the next day when I went to a tire store to try and find a replacement tire. Much to my surprise the key for the wheel locks was now missing. I called their office, reported my problem, but the key was not found. I would have happily given them a 5 star review but losing or pocketing the key will cost me extra money. I must try and get a new key from the dealer who hopefully can provide one and since I need to bring the car in to do that . I will probably end up buying the tires from them rather than being able to shop around. I trust it was an honest mistake. When they finished the work I asked for the wheel lock box and key back to return to the glovebox and they said that they left it in the back. I didn't want to get out of the car to check at that point so I am at fault as well. To add insult to the experience I gave one of the drivers a nice tip for the work. read more

ZERO Stars (if possible) Our car broke down on the side of the Hwy 101 off ramp. At this time, the car completely shut down and would not start. A tow truck was called by our insurance at approximately 1 am. This particular day it was raining and below 30 degrees, so we opted to get a ride to our home and left a message for the towing company to contact us when they arrived to our vehicle. Unfortunately, we did not get a call, and Pete's towing did not properly tow our vehicle. As a result of improperly towing our vehicle, our tie rod was bent in the process. Once the vehicle was up and running, we noticed the steering was off. We took our vehicle into the mechanic shop, at which time our mechanic stated our tie rod was bent and it needed to be fixed. At this time we contacted Sandra to let her know of the issue, and explained that our mechanic stated our tie rod was bent as a result of improperly towing our car. Sandra stated she would not help us due to the fact that we did not notify withing 30 days of the tow. We explained to Sandra that the car just now running, and we had no way of knowing of this issue due until our vehicle was running. Sandra continued to state she would not help us, and conducted herself in a rude, and unprofessional manner (who seems to be a common issue with all your bad reviews). She hung up on us twice, because she stated she didn't have "time" to listen to our story. Sandra is clearly conducting bad business, and is in the habit ripping people off. We told Sandra (before she hung up on us the second time) we would be taking our complaint further to the better business bureau, and in which case Sandra said she "could care less if we do". You should be ashamed of Sandra's customer service if nothing else Pete's Towing! Locked my keys in my car yesterday big bummer !! The only two things that were good that came out of this was service was fast arrived around 15 mins like I was told . And getting my keys back . The big problem was the employee that came was not very friendly or talkative. I had stated to him that the reason I was using this tow company was I had work for a company great western alarm and communications and had thought ha I should call them . So my keys are returned to me along with a bill that was 80 dollars expensive if you ask me . When I had requested the tow trucking was asked about payment I said I had cash a 100 dollar bill to the lady on the phone sending out the tow truck she said ok and never stated employees do not carry cash . I was pretty upset at this point . Before the driver handed me my receipt he wrote on it paid 100 and scratched off the 80 I was like wow 5 minutes he was there and I feel straight robbed never am I using this company . I can't believe this company would get anything but a 5 star rating. They helped us in the worst conditions and went above and beyond for us. My friend and I work in the fire service. We were heading to San Luis Obispo to review tests for first responders at the California Specialized Training Institute. Unfortunately we hit a coyote on Highway 101 with an older BMW. We ended up in a gas station parking lot in King City at about 10:30 PM. Pretty sketch. Two amazing CHP Officers suggested us to take the car closer to our destinations and stay there. They recommended Pete Johnston AAA Towing as one of the places they use. We called them. They sent a very nice driver. It was about an hour drive each way for him. He loaded up the broken down leaky car and we were on our way. They truck was new, clean and he was an extremely polite young man. We dropped the car off In the yard and he then drove us to our hotel and dropped us off. But it doesn't end there. The car couldn't be fixed and had to be towed to Santa Rosa. Pete Johnston AAA Towing made all of the arrangements with AAA and the insurance company. My friend didn't have to do a thing but tell them where it needed to go. The car was delivered 2 days later. The car ended up being totaled but the customer service was AMAZING! It took me a while to write this, but when you are alone on the road and need help, I would call this company. read more

I recently went on a trip to Paso but on the way, my car broke down in Los Alamos. I had my car towed to Lyon's Auto Center in Paso where they replaced my thermostat. 2 days later and $514, I headed back to Los Angeles. Unfortunately, I got as far as the Templeton exit on 101 and my car started to overheat. So, I returned to Lyon's to find out I needed at new timing belt and water pump. Ouch!! I called my mechanic in Los Angeles, I decided to have my car towed home. After confirming with AAA that I had a free 200 mile tow available, they assigned Pete Johnston Towing to my case. Within 5 minutes, Sergio, their Dispatch Mgr. called me back. He was not only polite but he was extremely helpful. Since I'm a AAA Premier member and I'd been waiting at Lyon's for 3 hours, he asked if I might want to take advantage of my 1 day free rental car. In doing so, I could finally get on the road and my car would follow. He also told me about the Trip Interruption Insurance which would cover the one way drop off fee for the rental car. I told him I'd consider it. In the meantime, he would try to find a driver that could take the 200+ trip and he'd get back to me. A few minutes later, Sergio called letting me know that he found a driver and he was on his way. Yeah! As it turned out, his sons, Pablo and Bernie were the drivers. Both were very professional and Pablo is a great driver. The 4 hour trip flew by and I can honestly say, it was a pleasant experience. Mr. Johnston, you have 3 fantastic employees!!! read more

We found Tow Truck Bob and Service Truck Chris both helpful when our battery died after a very long vacation in Northern California. We had been on the road for over 5 hours and stopped to refuel (us and the car) and the vehicle just simply would not turn back on. Bob was the first on site (via a call to AAA) and immediately knew that the battery had died. Rather than just tow us 33 miles to San Luis Obispo (the nearest dealership/service center for our warranty) he immediately got a service truck out to us to jump the car and, ultimately replace the battery. Additionally, Bob stayed with us through most of the call rather than just taking off and making our situation someone else's problem. read more

Absolutely fabulous service! My car decided to blow up on me at the bottom of the Grade, 101 South. Eli was my driver. Felt more like a limousine service than a tow. He kept asking me if I was comfortable with the AC/Heater setting, if I'd like to change the radio station, etc. He even pushed my car into my parking spot while I sat in the seat and steered. Worst towing company I've ever had to deal with. Called AAA to get my car pulled out because I was stuck in the mud and unfortunately this is the company that was called. The driver called BEFORE even coming out to say that he would not be able to pull my car out. He made every excuse in the book to not come out. When AAA pressured him into coming he arrived with two cars already on his truck so obviously he wasn't planning on helping me out. He made zero effort to try and help me or even access the situation. Worst customer service ever, rude and unprofessional. Fortunately my neighbor was able to pull my car out with his Jeep. These folks went way out of their way to help my son when he was stranded at the side of the road on 101N. Bob (the driver) got them all to safety, found a good repair shop to take the car to and even helped them all get food. And he did all of this at 6pm on a Sunday night. It has never before occurred to me to take a selfie with the driver of a tow truck, but Sergio with Pete Johnston Towing was so amazing that I didn't want to forget this awesome experience, even though it started out pretty rough. My teenage daughter and I drove up from the LA area on a Thursday for a girls' weekend, heading toward Monterey. We stopped at a McDonald's in Paso Robles, and when we returned to our car it wouldn't start back up again. AAA sent us a battery technician (he was great too, wish I had gotten his name!) but it turned out to be a bad starter. He called for a tow truck, and that's where we met Sergio. It was after 6pm at this point, so the auto repair shops were all closed. My daughter and I were feeling pretty low at this point, but then Sergio came and cheered us up. We chose to stay at a nearby hotel which had a repair shop across the way (Dave Foltz Automotive--I'm writing a 5-star review for them next!), so Sergio towed our car there, and made sure we got there safely too. He is a gem, absolutely professional and very knowledgeable, but also wonderful at putting our minds at ease and making us laugh. We are very thankful for him and how he went above and beyond the call of duty to take care of us. The best customer service we could ask for, we can't recommend him highly enough! read more

It's time you find someone to replace Sandra, the dispatcher. She was hostile and very unprofessional. She yelled at me over her own mistake. After I expressed that I had given her the correct information, she proceeded to tell me I needed to call her back to verify the information I had ALREADY given her. I should NOT have to call AGAIN to make sure she is doing her job right. The only reason I'm rating this one star is because Sergio was absolutely amazing. He was very helpful when he arrived. He answered all and any questions I had regarding the vehicle. He made the process of towing my father's car so easy and apologized for Sandra's behavior. WHAT A SHAME! It is VERY unfortunate that I will be taking my services elsewhere because of her. Seems to be a common problem on your page, and clearly no measures have been taken. Some people do not belong in customer service and she is one of those people. read more

We were stuck with a dead battery while visiting Paso Robles. Called AAA they referred our service call to a competitor. After waiting for more than 4 hours, through a lot of different excuses, we were referred to Pete Johnston's Towing. We called them directly, spoke with Sandra who was VERY helpful. She pointed out that they were also a AAA affiliate. She said they would have someone to us in 15 minutes, but suggested we call AAA back and have them send them the service call so it wouldn't cost us anything. The service tech actually arrived less than 10 minutes after our call, was super friendly and efficient, and we were on our way in no time. Oh, and AAA did send the service call so it didn't cost us a thing (wonder why they did'nt do that to begin with?). Zero stars if available. I broke down yesterday at the front of the loading gate at the fairgrounds at the Three Speckled Hens show in Paso Robles. Their gate of patrons is over 10,000 per show. My battery died after the porters at the show loaded my Infiniti. I was blocking the loading gate in the front. I called aaa. They informed me less than an hour wait. jorge from Pete Johnston called to confirm and hour and a half wait. I explained my dilemma with the fact I was blocking the gate and the porters tried to move me but my car wouldn't go into neutral without a battery. He said he would put me ahead of two people ahead of me to get me out of this predicament at fairgrounds. When he arrived many people had already tried to jump me and with no luck. His quick analysis was that it wasn't the battery because there was no clicking sound. I am a 62 year old woman who is not car savvy but I do know a dead battery. I said originally there was the clicking sound but everyone at fairgrounds keeps trying to jump my battery because I'm in the way. Long story short he tests and guess what. Need to replace battery. My battery would take too long. At least an hour. Suggested I get it towed. Call triple Aaa. I said no. You are triple Aaa. Fine he said. It will cost extra for installation. 30 dollars. He would have to come back after the two stranded people he left ahead of me. I accepted. The show at fairgrounds was stuck. After 2 and a half hours I called him and he came back. Had to tell me me he took 15 calls since he left me there. Does Pete Jouhnston make money per call under AAA WHILE THEY LEAVE A CUSTOMER WAITING? Seriously what is the rate.? it took him less than 15 minutes to install my battery. I paid him and then he asked for 30 dollar installation fee. I handed debit card and he insisted on cash only. Because I didn't have cash he became irate. He accepted a check. Not to AAA OR Pete Johnston but to himself personally. I wrote it so I could go home that night to Pismo Beach. Thank you Pete Johnston Chevrolet. My next complaint is with AAA then better business. Wondering also about fraud. read more

I was in an accident, stranded, and had no idea where to go or how to get home. My car was totaled and I didn't know how I would get home. The AMAZING staff here went above and beyond to see that I got home safely. Sergio and Sandra were caring and accommodating and this place is lucky to have people like this working for them. If they weren't here I don't know what I would have done. They are truly genuine and caring people and I would recommend them to anyone and everyone. I will always be grateful for them and can't even find the words to express how much they mean to me. They deserve the 5/5 stars and I would give them more if I could. read more

So I totaled my truck and we called AAA and they sent these guys. I had a amp and my stereo system inside still and couldn't retrieve them because I didn't have tools, but the tow truck driver said I could just go to the lot the next day and retrieve everything. When I went there the next day they did not allow me to get my things out because I wasn't the registered owner and because it is on their lot, which none of this was mentioned to me by the tow truck driver. The woman who is the manager tried wanted us to sign the pink slip over to her before we even got my stuff out of my truck. Sergio one of the workers was very rude and not helpful, making many promises and then saying I can't grab anything at all from my truck. I ended up getting my electronics out but they said I wasn't allowed to take my tires on my own truck. Overall horrible place and had a horrible experience whatever you do don't stay away from this place, absolutely horrible. read more

What dirt bags. Driver pulls up and begins yelling at me about how he will not tow my truck and why. No hello. No how are you. Nothing. Funny they towed my truck before. He was obviously a lazy guy. Asked him to contact his supervisor but refused. Told me to find some other company. I asked if it would be covered by AAA but said he didn't know and drove off. POS.
