I have ordered twice at this location and been disappointed in the food quality overall. The garlic bread is probably the best thing here, bread is soft, warm, and buttery. I have had the pizza years ago when they had a location in Hoover and it was the best. Supposedly the owner in Gardendale is the same one that was at Hoover previously. This pizza is the complete opposite, with a store bought bread base that's partial cooked. The toppings didn't help to improve the flavor or texture, I had a pepperoni pizza. This time I tried the roast beef sandwich and my boyfriend had the hoagie. The roast beef and gravy tasted like it was in a can and reminded me of Dinty Moore beef stew, very salty and thick gravy. The hoagie had three meats, maybe provolone cheese, and pizza sauce that was light. The meats were lukewarm and dripping clear liquid while eating the sandwich. Again the bread was about the only good part of these sandwiches as it's the same used for the garlic bread. I wish they would work on improving their food offerings, and bring back the good quality they used to have for pizzas. I'm not sure if I will return here unless it's just for garlic bread which seems a waste since Gardendale is out of the way for me. I'm disappointed eating here now. read more

I've had pizza at different establishments across the country, and this may be the worst I've ever had. Ordered a calzone and it was an absolute mess without much taste. It was served on a paper plate, so that only added to my disappointment. The restaurant itself is dirty and dingy. Most tables were dirty, the light fixtures over the table and walls were covered is food spatter, and the seats were equally gross. You walk in, order, then they bark out your number. The lady behind the counter was kind, but seemed put out. The cook.... Let's just say he left an unfavorable memory. What a great day to stop in a local pizza shop to have a bite. We were riding around in the area and decided to have an early dinner. We weren't in the mood for any of the big chain restaurants and came across this place. Ye, I think I will have a little spaghetti. Walking through the door, we weren't met with the biggest smile and a very loud, "welcome to Pasquale's!" Loved it! Everyone wants to feel like they're welcomed. This is a seat yourself style restaurant, which means you order at the counter, take your ticket number and wait for the number to be called. Ver nostalgic family style restaurant. Reminds you of the days of it being a treat to go out for a meal and not just a normal Wednesday. The person that took your order actually had a conversation with you and seemed to genuinely wanted to take your order. I ordered the small plain spaghetti, cheese bread, salad and a soda. We stopped here on the way home from Tuscaloosa tonight. Got a 15" 3-topping pizza: pepperoni, Canadian bacon, Italian sausage. We really liked this pizza. The original crust was thin, but not Domino's thin, probably about 1/4" thick or so. We also got cheese bread and paid for a cup of sauce. The sauce was good, so was the cheese bread. We probably would not get it again. It was just half a hoagie bun. We still split it amongst the 4 of us so each would have a taste. We rounded our order out with a Chef salad. It was big enough for 4 of us to share with the pizza and bread. One person can eat this though if they order it. Not too big. We'd stop by again if we were in town. Its been a very, very long time since Ive been to a Pasquale's but I remember the food being fantastic. I was very excited to go back with my daughter and grandsons. First noticed a sign on the door that says no hot bar and no salad bar, (disappointment on my part). Second, there is no table service, you stand in line to order, they call your number and you go back to the counter to pick it up. You also have to clean up the table when you leave. As for the food, it was hot and fresh but the delicious flavors I remember are a thing of the past. It seems the restaurants have gone with cheaper quality products through the years and have lost what made them special. Because of this, I will not visit again. read more

It's hard to compete with a memory but this Pasquales has managed to do just that! The tangy marinara sauce perfectly complements the Italian meats and it is served on the best tasting hoagie buns in the world! Absolutely the best sandwiches located off I-65 in Gardendale, AL. The restaurant opened in 1972. The original wrought iron booths are still in place. My family makes sure to stop for lunch each time we head south from Franklin, TN. I always order the roast beef sandwich with extra pickles and 3 slices of pizza from the pizza table. My wife and daughter order the salad pizza bar. The pizza is ok but the sandwiches are fantastic. So stop by and try a delicious lunch if you are in the area. read more

Ehhh... While I can't say the food is bad, I also can't say it is exactly good. The 7" pizza is on a pre-made crust, not unlike the pre-made ones you would get at the grocery store. Relatively inexpensive food, so the taste is about what I would expect. The one highlight of our meal was the bread for our sandwiches. We must not be the only ones the table beside us I heard her telling someone they too always stop when near one. This one did not disappoint the outside is not great but the inside looks like it's been recently updated. The service was quick and friendly.
