Nice quaint restaurant in Homewood. Our first visit there. We started with the hot crab and artichoke heart dip, amazing. My wife had the lobster ravioli, she said it was quite good. I had Finnochi stuffed pasta with pear and gorgonzola. Also very tasty. Service was on point. Only reason it's not a 5 star is because there were kids running around and screaming. We really like this restaurant and this evening had a mistake in our order. My husband with celiac had a regular gluten pizza delivered. I was pressed for time, and so asked to speak to the manager who comped the pizza and a drink for me. I said that it didn't matter who was at fault, I wasn't looking to lay blame. So what I appreciated the most is that our server G. came and said she was in a hectic space and it was her mistake. I love that management has the servers learn accountability. It was a little dark and difficult to read the menu. I had an IPA and my wife had a sauvignon blanc on tap, recommended by the server. Both were great. We ordered a Margherita pizza + pepperoni and a birria pizza. As neapolitan pizza goes, they make a pretty good one but I have had better neapolitan crust. Lots of unique flavors and some seasonality to the menu. The Margherita was great and for me, the pepperoni kicks in up a notch. What really surprised me was how good the birria pizza was. This is one of my favorite pizza and pasta places. I do not know of anywhere you can get pasta on a pizza, so try the Rigatoni Bolognese Pizza. Its great and very unique. But I also love the Pimento Cheese, the Calabrese and sometimes if I just want a "regular pizza, the meatball. All are very good. Last time, I tried the Shaved Brussell Sprout salad (with the meatball pizza) and it was really good. The pizza crust taste so good and everything is so fresh. Try a little of the Firelli hot sauce on the table on your pizza. Great flavor without it being all heat. The servers are great. You should ask for Macy if she is working. Consistency is key, and every last time we come here the food is outstanding. We started with the polenta fries and calamari- two of our favorite apps. The polenta fries are perfectly crispy and beautifully presented- their perfect rectangles stacked artfully alongside marinara and aioli. Their crisp exteriors reveal perfectly creamy interiors. The calamari is also wonderful, especially the charred peppers that are included alongside. The really showstopper though is the veal Parmesan. So seriously- HOW do they serve this incredible dish for only $21?!?!?! I'm definitely late to the pizzeria GM party. I went here on a Saturday night and it was busy but not packed. Didn't have to wait long to get a table. We were greeted quickly and got our drinks. We ordered a cheese ball appetizer that was really delicious. I got a Cahaba blonde on draft and it was good as well. there's a little bar in there that you can sit around. There's also an outside seating area because it was hot. We ended up getting an inside table. I ordered the lasagna and it was cheesy and delicious with some toasted bread that I dipped in my lasagna. I cannot remember the name of our waitress, but she was very attentive short with long black hair The parking is a little difficult because there really isn't much parking there so you either have to park near the park or across the street and some other parking lot which being a newbie I had no idea. I will definitely be back sooner than later. If you haven't been, I would definitely put this on your list of places to go eat. read more

This is becoming one of my favorite lunch spots near the office. I've liked everything I have tried so far. First time I decided to try the monthly special Chilton County Peach Pizza that has Bacon & Conecuh Sausage along with the famed peaches. I thought it was very good but if you are not a fan of a little sweet/savory on your pizza (those that think pineapple doesn't belong on pizza) it is probably not for you. I also have tried the GM Burger with house made chips. This was another pleasant surprise from a pizza place. It was really good and would definitely get again at some point after I finish working my way through the menu. This is not quick option for lunch but if you are not pressed for time I recommend. I would probably go much more often if they had a lunch specific menu that ensured I was able to get in & out more quickly. We don't live in Homewood so we make a special trip each time we eat here. It is hard to get in gianmarcos so this is the next best thing. This time I tried the polenta fries with garlic aioli....... Perfect texture with crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. We then branched out - baked rigatoni bolognese pizza. I loved the flavor but wished I could find the beef? I love Pizzeria GM. I have been here multiple times and have always had good service every time. The good service just adds to the bonus of great food. The staff had on gloves, masks and everyone practiced social distancing. I had been here before, so I know that they set up the place to take precautions. I also liked that they had sanitizer at each table. So it's a perfectly safe dine in option. I usually just get pizza, but was very hungry and wanted a salad too. I had a Mixed Greens salad (1/2 portion). I also had a Meatball pizza (the smaller size). Another person in my lunch party had Chicken Parmesan pizza. The salads came out first. My salad had dried figs, gorgonzola, walnuts, and it also had a balsamic type dressing. It was great and it had a little slice of pita bread with it that was amazing. I wish I could order a basket of it by itself. By the time we ate our salads and had a little conversation, the pizza was coming out. It was so good. The meatballs on my pizza were perfectly seasoned. The sauce on the pizza gave it an extra something that makes it easily one of my favorite pizzas. I'm always picky about pizza. Yes, you read that correctly. At first taste, it reminded me of a pineapple pizza, of which I'm a fan (hot take). The salty sausage snd sweet pear matched well. If I had a critique, it needed a better binder, i believe there was some kind of oil but it's possible there wasn't enough, at least for my taste. Food, cocktails and service are spot on at this place! They do impose social distancing but the outdoor seating and heat lamps make it feasible. It was 35 degrees while we had dinner and I'm a cold natured person who loathes cold weather and feeling cold but I felt totally fine! They have ample heaters so much so I even took my jacket off. My husband got ravioli which was over cooked and I worried about complaining but it was seriously overcooked to a point he couldn't chew it. I even tried it...rock hard. So we notified the waiter. It was changed and a new hot entree was served in less than 10 minutes. Simply great customer service. He got the spaghetti and meatballs as a replacement and there were 4 large meatballs with a side of freaking awesome garlic bread! I got a shaved Brussels sprout salad and the maple vinaigrette dressing is a nice twist. The salad was large and full of toppings. My entree was the lasagna and it was fabulous. The red sauce is so good! Plenty of garlic bread on the side to lap up the sauce. The entrees are so big! Love the portion size. We have leftovers for dinner tomorrow! We had Nutella filled mini donuts for dessert. We all had chocolate on our faces but well worth it. What a unique dessert option. I will be back! Because of the Covid-19 pandemic I have NOT dined at a full service restaurant in almost 11 weeks. As Alabama begins to "reopen" for business, we decided to try Pizzaria GM for an early Saturday dinner. I was very happy to see the pandemic protocols were being followed. Workers wore masks, and the hostess took our forehead temperature before seating us. We asked to be seated at an outdoor table, and there were hand sanitizer spray bottles at each table. I started with the Bourbon Sidecar cocktail. It was good; smooth and refreshing. The calimari appetizer was just okay. I thought it was a tad greasy, and it had a slight fishy smell. For my entree I ordered the Gulf Shrimp with Fresh Saffron Pappardella Pasta. Pappardella is a long flat noodle that is similar to a fetticuni but noticeable wider. I thought the pasta was excellent. It was thin and soft. The large shrimp and sliced mushrooms were a nice combination, but I was really disappointed with this dish. The pesto was too much! The ingredients were drowning in pesto, and it just overwhelmed everything. The other Yelp pics of this dish didn't look like a bowl of pesto soup so maybe mine was an exception. I liked the restaurant. It has a cool vibe, and great location. The service was good, I was disappointed with my choices, but would give it another shot. read more

This is a cute quaint Pizzeria restaurant in Homewood. Came here yesterday because my brother lives not too far away and we did not feel like cooking. For our appetizer, we ordered the Wagyu Beef Pigs in a Blanket with Dijon Mustard. It was okay. It tasted like a regular sausage and a strip of dough around the sausage which was nice because some places add too much bread for a pigs in a blanket. For the price I thought $12 was a little overprices for what you get. For dinner we ordered two pizza's. We ordered the Meatball Pizza, and the Italian Ham Pizza: 1.) The Meatball Pizza comes with Mozzarella, Provolone, Sunday Sauce & Oregano. The dough was not too thick which was nice but the pizza had a tad too much sauce. The meatball was not actually little balls of meatballs but cut up in thin round pieces like you'd cut up a sausage. 2.) The Italian Ham Pizza comes with Grilled Artichoke, Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes, Hand Dipped Ricotta, Fresh Mozzarella and Basil. Sounds delicious right? Well, it was just "okay". They put on whole cherry tomatoes on the pizza itself and when you bite the tomatoes the juices went flying everywhere and would roll off the pizza. If I were them, I'd cut the cherry tomatoes in half and then add them to the pizza. I did not taste any basil at all which is a pity, so they need to add more basil. As for the artichoke, where was it?? Overall, I would not order this pizza again unless they do some changes of which I mentioned. I'd come here again during a nice afternoon with some friends and enjoy the ambiance and try something else to eat. read more

This is a reasonably good Italian restaurant in West Homewood. Parking isn't great, but the food is worth it. We visited on a Monday night, and they were busy. We ordered a spinach artichoke dip that was on special that was very good. I ordered veal parmesan, and my wife got the Antipasti salad. This has quickly become one of my top favorite restaurants. Hubs and I went about two months ago and I crave it everyday. I've had the chilton county peach pizza that comes with buffalo mozzarella, peaches, jalapeño honey drizzle and pancetta. So amazing. The other night I had the mushroom ravioli with on tap Pinot. Holy amaze balls. Also amazing. The pasta is handmade and came in a rich, English pea and pancetta filled sauce. It came with three pieces of garlic bread the worked perfectly to scoop up the rest of the sauce. This is a go to place. Like, go right now. I don't quite understand the hype here. Decor and ambiance is so-so, nothing special. Some of the stereotypical Italian decor is too kitschy for the otherwise modern styling of the dining area. Service is good. This place is meant to be a pizzeria.. and to me the pizza is nothing to write home about. The crust has an okay texture but little to no taste. We got the seasonal peach pizza, a shaved Brussels sprout salad, and the potato chips. I'll say I appreciate the use of high quality local seasonal produce. The pizza was my least favorite part of the meal. It was good, but not great. I can think of 3-4 places I'd rather have pizza from locally over this pizza. It's a nice place to perhaps have drinks and share small plates or pasta with friends on the patio. The pizza though? Not for me. I will say, they have a lot of patio space which is always a plus. We arrived just after opening at 5 and the dining area was filled by 5:30 on a Tuesday. We enjoy a few trips to gianmarco's wine bar per year with pasta and small plates. I guess this concept may be a nice alternative for people who live in Homewood, but I personally won't be upset if I don't return to pizzeria GM.
