We've been meaning to try this restaurant forever and finally got the chance to go tonight. We made a 7:30 reservation and were seated right away. We had the "sprigs and stones" and "sweet emotions" to drink. We also had the whipped ricotta, carne asada and a nice piece of fish. Food and drinks were delicious. We also loved the name "a nice piece of fish." The hostess was so sweet and our server was awesome! The restaurant itself is super cute and we were very impressed with the entire experience. If you're in downtown Arlington Heights I would highly recommend checking this place out! read more

The pasta dishes are channeling Rome and Florence. The gem, in dessert section, are the cinnamon and sugar donuts!! These warm gorgeous jewels are Accompanied by creme anglaise and dark/ deep/savory chocolate moose / ganache. Love at first sight! read more

Went to Passero last night for first time and had great experience. We had Brussels sprouts appetizer which was outstanding! Two of us had the fresh fish Haddock with cocoanut corn meal and fresh Michigan asparagus of the day which was absolutely perfect . We also had pasta and chicken Parmesan (large portion) which everyone enjoyed. The best part was serving team we're so nice and attentive starting with young lady bar tending and great server and bus team. Also place had good city vibe! I highly recommend Passero! read more

Wow is all I can say. I see a lot of reviews that are negative have to do with service. We came at 6:30 on a Tuesday so there were no service issues. Started with the brussel sprouts with bacon and the whipped riccotta... Both outstanding. My wife had the tagliatelle with short rib and sausage and I had the walleye. I went for the pull apart garlic bread which I read about in so many other reviews. It was awesome, but after a few bites the garlic became almost overwhelming. That is not to say I didn't enjoy it a lot. Sadly, the leftovers did not reheat well. I also had a margarita pizza which was really good as well. Nice vibe in the place and outstanding service. Boy, for a little restaurant it was delicious!! The roasted Brussel sprouts were so good!! We also had a cheese mozzarella appetizer that was to die for. For dinner I had the Chicken Parmesan and my daughter had a spaghetti dinner (don't know the name of it but was also excellent. I'm eating my leftovers right now and still so good! I have been coming to Passero since they were in their old location. I loved the old spot but WOW the experience at the new location is incredible. The staff is knowledgeable and skilled. Sitting at the bar can even be one of the best spots to sit since you can watch the chefs and owner make your meal. It feels like coming to local spot where you are treated like family while still being extremely elevated and high end. The ambiance is great for a lovely date night or a fun Sunday morning brunch. #bottomlessmimosas Every drink and meal has been unforgettable. Best local spot in Arlington Heights. We were very excited to try this place but were left disappointed. My husband had the chicken Parmesan and the sauce tasted very off, almost like from a jar. I had the nice piece of fish and it was very dry. The burrata appetizer was good and staff was nice. This dinner was not worth 100 bucks :( read more

Went there in late September for a birthday celebration - party of 6. Two of us eat low-carb so given that this is an Italian place we weren't expecting much that we could eat - we were correct. Almost ordered the fish, but settled on the burrata, which was awful - so there wasn't much else for us to eat. Others had pasta dishes and seemed to enjoy them, but did not rave. Service was good, but not outstanding. We spent about 2 hours there and finally got it that the 8 people hanging around the front desk were waiting for our table and rapidly left. Fantastic lunch and thrilled to have such a special and unique restaurant in Arlington Heights. Gracious service, lovely menu and the food was fabulous! Started with tempura cauliflower, which looked just like sesame chicken when it was served. Absolutely delicious! Also had the butternut squash and farro salad...wow!! The food here at Passero was great! Everything on their menu will make your mouth waters. They have so huge selection of delicious foods. They offer pasta, seafood, pizza, desserts, and others. Their pasta is phenomenal, the portion of the sauce is good, the veggies are really great, and the pasta has an incredible flavor. I also like their pizza, it is well-cooked, the serving is creative, and it is worth the price. You can also find some brussel sprouts, octopus, cheesy garlic bread, and other dishes that is worth to try. Their food is so delicious and so unique. This Passero has the best and friendly employees I have ever met. All of them are professional, decent, and they all know how to properly talk to all of their customers. They are so kind and welcoming. They also made the experience much better and happy. Fantastic service! I really enjoyed the food here at Passero. This place is such a gem here in Arlington Heights. I was referred to Passero with rave reviews so my husband and I went there for our anniversary. Service was slow, I was not impressed with the mozzarella bar we ordered or my main course (gnocchi), my husband's vodka sauce was really good though. The skillet cookie was delicious and really out of my app/wine/main the only thing worth the cost. To top it off we paid in cash and left and our waitress ran out of the restaurant asking if we had forgotten to pay..no it's on the table, maybe if you stopped by more often you would have known that. Very overpriced $90 meal is all I can say. read more

Wonderful food and service. Waitstaff was helpful, friendly & engaging. The stuffed sourdough bread appetizer is sinfully addictive for a carb addict. We also shared a salad and calamari appetizer. At this point both couples shared a wonderfully prepared "Nice piece of fish" (listed on menu as such). It is actually Parmesan crusted walleye. We split a giant piece of homemade mascarpone cream carrot cake for dessert. Rich enough to feed four! All in all, a very good meal. We'll be back! read more

Before we entered the place I checked the menu at the front - Monday-Saturday lunch Starters listed fried calamari (my FAVORITE!). After we were seated we were given menus and told the kitchen closed soon and we had to order literally in a few minutes (it was 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon). The menus we were given did not list calamari, and I was rather disappointed to be eating here on my birthday, in a rush (since the kitchen was closing soon, which is not typical in this area), and without the full menu that we were expecting. I asked our waiter about the fried calamari starter and he said it was only available for dinner. I was disappointed but we ordered and ate anyway. The food was decent but not spectacular. The service was ok, not great. Overall I was unenthusiastic about the place, even though I had heard good things and was optimistic when we first came in. When we left, i went back to the front entrance and confirmed what I thought I had seen before entering: the Monday-Saturday Lunch menu clearly listed fried calamari even though we were told it was not an option for our meal. I have eaten twice in their former location,but noticed that they are not willing to accommodate their guests if they ask for a different table. We were 2,the first time we came in at 3:00, the restaurant was empty .. they asked me if I had a reservation! She put us in front of the kitchen .. when I asked to be moved ..The hostess just kind of rolled her eyes and gave us a table next to the bathroom, but we gave them another try because the food was good. The second time we made a reservation for 4:00- again they put us in a table for 2 smack up against the wall next to the serving counter, I said "I understand you're not a large restaurant but since it's not crowded can we have that table over there? "She said "oh no.. we have other guests coming"... Last night my friend suggested we give them one last try because they have moved into a larger location,so we made a reservation for 5:00. Again, the restaurant was not yet full for dinner hour but she gave us a table facing the sun, in the line of traffic... we asked for another table..she didn't answer but led us to another spot. The food was good, but there are plenty of local restaurants that are willing to make sure their guests are comfortable. We will not be back. read more

Been there many times before and never had a problem but made reservations tonight and still had to wait an hour. Actually everyone in front of us had reservations and had to wait. The man who talked to my husband a half hour after waiting rolled his eyes as he walked away. Unacceptable if you asked me. I came here because you offer reservations. Some women (have no idea what her actual job was) didn't seem to care and was very disrespectful to us. Told us people were sitting hours after paying and she couldn't do anything. Finally comped us wine while waiting because we asked. Naturally after sitting, our waitress was awesome and the food was amazing but when we got the bill they tried to charge us for the wine we sat down with. We brought it to her attention and she talked to the women who said it was a "mistake". Last time I checked, if you sit down with a drink they got it from the bar and already paid. But good job trying to charge us an extra $50. She said "oh, I forgot". Maybe I'll order take out next time? Or try not to deal with "management". read more

So so...nothing to write home about. $11.00 for a 4 ounce (if that) wine pour is ridiculous. Have to ask for bread, salt/pepper/grated cheese. Caesar salad wilted and too much stalk and not enough green. Things are done in the cheap here...entree marginal. $10.00 for a salad, al a carte for an Italian restaurant is just not customary. Slow service and very noisy. Don't bother...try Toscanos's. read more

We just ordered Passero take out for the first time and, as expected, it did not disappoint. I had Tuscan black kale Caesar salad with roasted salmon and it was outstanding. It has roasted butternut squash, pistachio granola,  pecorino cheese + lemon caesar dressing. My husband ordered the Pappardelle Napoletana which is a pasta dish with braised short rib and  fennel sausage. Be sure to indulge in the cheesy garlic pull. Yum! We will definitely order again --next time, post Covid and dining in! I should add that ordering was easy and pick up was fast. What a great experience. So glad you are in AH:). read more

Love this little gem in my downtown. I have not had a bad meal yet. Only reason why not 5 stars.... well... I've been to several of the best restaurants in the world so my opinion of a 5 star restaurant is a little skewed. Food is excellent. A lot of energy in both rooms. Desserts are to die for. Only thing to work on is the hosts/hostesses need to be a little more attentive and friendly and, some servers can stand to up their game little. Wish Kelly can be our server every time. First time here and it is wonderful. We had the cheesey garlic bread and the warm olives. I was in heaven Nice selection of wines. The food was excellent. Server was fun and attentive. Had the loaded bread, and it was great. The gnocchi and the serving was ample. They were light and tender. My only issue is that they charged for ice!! I hate being "nickle and dimed". If you need the buck that bad-just add it to the drink. That was tacky. read more

Absolutely stay away from this restaurant!! They served food with nuts to my son who had nut allergies. The server was made aware of these allergies and the salad he ordered was not listed as having nuts. This was also confirmed with the server preorder. My son accidentally digested the nuts without knowing and had an allergic reaction later that evening. When the server was made aware, she took the item off the bill. No manager or owner stopped by to see how my son was doing. The rest of our order came and no one ate anything cause my son couldn't eat if the food accidentally had nuts in it. We paid our bill and left disgusted. My wife, not wanting to make a scene at the restaurant called to speak to the owners. As I write this review the owner has yet to contact us. Unacceptable for a service business! The food is below average at best and with many other competitive options. For the area, go to Osteria Trulli where they know service and the quality of the food and service is far better. In the food business you cannot mistakes like this as could be life threatening and unacceptable and the fact that the owner hasn't reached out goes to further show they don't give a shit only to take your money. Went for lunch with a party of six. We were the first and only people in the place and several of our orders were wrong. We watched the server write them down and repeat them so that means the kitchen messes up the only orders he was making. Makes me think he didn't care for the server which is pretty sad. No one can make that many mistakes with his only order. The appetizers were amazing but the pizza was horrible. I picked up a piece and it drooped and all the toppings slid off. Ugh. Had high hopes for this place. For a date. I guy at their small location (previous location) was great. Bring a kid or even just more than 2 people and it all falls apart. Cold food, some entrees come before others, poor seating arrangements. I guess I understand the feel of this place is cozy and local but it lacks in so many ways.
