So happy we decided to stop in Mambo! I loved walking in and seeing the kitchen immediately, this…read moreis usually a sign that food is going to be goooooooood. We were seated right away with no reservation (on a Tuesday evening around 7:30 pm); I imagine reservations probably come in handy. We started with a bottle of wine - the wine list had a wide range of bottles priced lower to your more expensive bottle; we chose one in the middle range (super Tuscan) and it was very tasty. Reviews on food: Calamari: I really enjoyed the calamari! It was lightly battered but had just enough crunch. The flavor was great. They even had lemon wedges and pepperoncini fried in with the calamari which I loved. Cesar salad: I forgot to snag a picture of the salad, and it also happened to be my least favorite item we ordered. The dressing was overly sweet for my liking and did not have your standard Cesar flavoring. I wish I would have asked more about the dressing to understand it a little better. I probably would not order this salad again. Eggplant parmigiano: this was sooooo good! The eggplant was breaded and cooked perfectly. I could have just eaten the eggplant it was so tasty. Highly recommend!! Tagliatelle bolognese: I am a huge sucker for bolognese, so I usually judge this sauce pretty tough. This. Was. De. Licious!!! The meat sauce was full of flavors and the noodles were cooked perfectly. I was impressed! Butterscotch budino: perfect way to end our meal. I'm a huge fan of butterscotch flavored desserts and this did not disappoint. It was light and not too heavy after a meal of pasta. The thick layer caramel on top was delicious. The portions were big in my opinion, so while prices were a little high, I thought we got our moneys worth of food. Our server (and others that came to the table) were all super kind and helpful. It does get very loud in the restaurant, so had the weather been nice enough to eat outside, I probably would have chose the patio seating. Overall this was a great meal! 5 starts for the scrumptious food, portion size, and service.

For true fans of what a real deli should be, this place is simply the best in town! Let me first…read moresay that I am an unabashed NYC sandwich guy. The delicatessens in the city are scrappy, endlessly interesting epicurean melting pots with flavors often represented from around the world. SM&S is exactly like this with yummy food specialties around the store from seafood, meats, cheeses, seedy crackers, freshly made pastas & sauces to go, soups, etc. And YES, the sandwiches are the star of the show! I've been regularly going to the Boat since the mid-90s after moving here from New York, and I was psyched to find a "real" deli serving up ultra-thinly sliced best-in-class Boars Head cold cuts. Plus, the bread is just right with a bit of delicious doughiness & chew to the texture, NOT like some other more popular main street sandwich shops where the bread is soullessly airy & fluffy, and covered in wildly inappropriate sesame seeds. Service has ALWAYS been friendly to me and my party, but I'll say that if you're looking for fake, over-the-top fain, then look elsewhere. These are real people, making real sandwiches, that are real delicious. Really!!!

Killer spot to grab a quick sandwich! The staff is nice and friendly. They turn the food fast, as…read morelong as they are not too busy. They have a nice menu, which has a variety of flavors and styles of sandwiches. I've never ordered any meat or seafood out of the case / freezer, but, the selection looks outstanding. I want to try the raviolis next time. The drinks and speciality grocery items are great - nice hard to find Italian products.

An upscale, high energy restaurant in downtown Steamboat Springs serving cuisine with a twist is a…read morecan't-miss. The bar area with the TV seems a little out of place, but I like sports so I'm good with it. The staff were incredibly, incredibly knowledgeable about their food. Most knowledgeable waitress I've probably ever encountered. We ordered the Wild Mushroom Arancini and Whipped Feta & Bruschetta for the table and together they were the perfect appetizer for four people. I'm usually not a fan of wild mushrooms, but it worked well with the crispy arancini. The whipped feta & bruschetta was a nice cooling change of pace, but I wish they gave you a couple more bread bits. For an entree I went with the interesting pork cheeks. They are literally pig cheeks, like the cheeks from their face. And I absolutely loved them! They reminded me a bit of chicharrones, but softer. They were supposed to be sriracha based, but I barely tasted sriracha, so that left me wanting more. The broccolini made up for it, but that's because broccoli/lini makes everything better. Definitely make this a stop when you're in Steamboat Springs.

The service was amazing - our waiter was funny, knowledgeable and checked on us often. Everything we got was very good. We ordered a variety of apps and entrees -see pics. There seems to be a "neighborhood bar" ambiance with several diners greeting staff like regulars. We also had a sommelier come to the table who helped with wine choices (he was super chill, helpful - not too formal like some soms can be). Would recommend this restaurant!

We ordered…read morethe Dude Ranch and the Steamboat Mountain Pie (XL), along with thin crust pepperoni and a Hawaiian Mountain Pie for the kids. The Dude Ranch and Steamboat were both really good. The flavors were excellent, and the crust was incredibly crispy. My brother even said it was better than New York pizza. Drizzling the honey on the crust was a fun touch--it honestly tastes like eating honey and fresh bread. That said, the crust is very filling, which made it harder to eat more pizza. We had a decent amount leftover. The kids weren't interested in the crust at all and left most of it behind. Service, unfortunately, didn't match the quality of the food. Even with such a large group, there was very little check-in from our server. When I asked a question, the response came off a bit rude, and no one really stopped by to see how we were doing or if we needed anything. I still tipped 18% given the size of our group, but the service could have been much better. Overall, the pizza itself was great and definitely the highlight, but improved service would make the experience much better.

The pizza dough is much different that we've seen before very thick on the outer edge. We just ordered a small pizza to try. The pizza looked good when it came out, after taking a slice there really was t much to it mostly dough. I think if we had of got a med or large it would have been better not as much dough and more cheese and sauce. Over all it was ok there's lots of other places to try in the area before returning.
