The restaurant is small and comfy, with 4-seat tables lined up against one wall and the opposite wall being taken up by a counter and counter seats. Pictures of food hang on both walls and four brown ceiling fans hang from the ceiling. The restaurant's color scheme is very "latte", as the main colors are white and beige and only one part of the wall is red. Daughter ordered the fried flounder with 2 over easy eggs and grits with wheat bread. She said that the fish was nicely fried and crunchy. It didn't need tartar or cocktail sauce. She said it was her first time eating a breakfast item like this and her taste buds had never felt this sensation before. LOL. Hubs ordered the pinto con chorizo with sunny side up eggs. The server warned him that the sausage was spicy, but he didn't care. When we came here, Hubs didn't expect Hispanic food for brunch and was so surprised and so happy. He found the first item that he can see and translate and was happy he did. The chorizo had a nice spunk to it. He was happy that he got rice and beans instead of home fries and what a delightful change! The chips were also nice and crispy. Lastly, I had waffles with mixed fruit. I LOVED my waffles because it was nice and crunchy. The mixed fruit were bananas, strawberries, grapes and blueberries. They were a nice touch. I was asked if I wanted whipped cream and I said yes. Coffee was freshly brewed and it was nice and strong. It wasn't ordinary diner coffee. Hubs was happy about getting his cup refilled. Service was fast and really friendly. The waiter was always smiling. Parking is street parking. When we were there, it was free parking. Neighborhood was a bit sketchy, though. We were thinking of checking out the flea market across the street but changed our minds. Glad we got to try this place! Maybe one day, we'll be back.

Soooo yummy!!! I love the waffles. This place really hit the spot and everyone there is so kind.read more

My old phone was taking blurry pics from far away so I wasn't able to capture it, but think very cozy, fireplace with candles glowing from within, and little alcoves in the wall for candle clusters. It was perfectly elevated while still being casual and approachable. When we came there was a Mac and cheese special with pulled bbq pork on top. I knew we had to get that because it is right up my husbands alley. It did not disappoint, my husband was tempted to order some to take home! The pasta was super creamy and cheesy, mixed with the roasted pulled smoky bbq pork on top, it was the ultimate comfort food for the cold rainy day we were having. For my meal I got the Grilled Cheese which is more of an elevated "grown up" grilled cheese. It had cheese, thin apple slices, fig jam and bacon. The flavors were great, I only wish there was a little more cheese or a little less jam to balance the sweet and savory a little more, because for me it was a touch too sweet. The sourdough it was made with was delicious and fresh, I also appreciate that they don't seem to soak their grilled cheese in oil like a lot of places do (butter or nothing, please!!) My husband ordered the burger which he really enjoyed but nothing was going to top the pulled pork Mac and cheese for him. They should consider adding it to the regular menu! He originally wanted the duck sandwich but it was unavailable on this day. All in all it was a cozy afternoon together. Our waitress was very friendly and made sure to check on us without ever being too overbearing.

We tried the Boom Boom Shrimp, which were crispy and packed with flavor; the sauce was amazing. The Pan Fried Potstickers were also delicious, savory pork dumplings with a perfectly balanced dipping sauce (though I wish there had been more!). Lastly, the fried calamari was fresh and crispy, complemented perfectly by the sweet chili sauce. For our main dishes, we ordered the blackened chicken salad, which was just okay--not my favorite. The prime burger, however, was juicy and flavorful. The shrimp and sirloin dish was decent, but the shrimp were a bit small and overcooked. This place is great for enjoying a few appetizers.

It is a very nice restaurant; Large, but not overbearing. I could see going here either on date night, or with 2 more couples. Our server Patrick was fantastic from the beginning of the night, straight through to the end. He was friendly, and very efficient. Chef/owner Scott came out from the kitchen to greet us and other patrons, and was gracious to everyone. Onto the food. The Duck Tacos and Mussels were very tasty. I think I might put a call into Chef and have him make me a bottle of that Mussels sauce to take home with me. Then came the crisp Caesar Salad, which kept everything bright. To finish, we had the Black Cod and Duck Confit, both of which were very well balanced and cooked perfectly. Oh, and the Guava-glazed Brussels Sprouts were a perfect side. Next time, I want to try one or two of their desserts. All-in-all, we had a great experience, and the night was a success. Chef, see you soon. I might just bring a large mason jar for some sauce!..

In fact it was one of the reasons I chose the hotel for a quiet, relaxing night to myself where I could just run downstairs and pick up my order. Unfortunately, I was unable to place an online order for pickup anytime that day even though they closed at 10p and it was 7:30p. I also tried calling several times and no one answered so unfortunately I had to put on deodorant (just got out the shower from doing my curls) and real clothes because I had no clue if they would make me eat inside since the takeaway options seemed to not be available. Luckily I was able to place a takeout order downstairs and wait in my room for a call. I ordered the Grover Double Burger, added a slab of bacon, and substituted the fries for a salad. The to go bag had everything I needed to enjoy the meal in my room such as silverware and a wet wipe. I was pleasantly surprised by the presentation of the colorful, fresh, green salad I was given! Not what I was expecting from a hotel restaurant salad! The vinaigrette was also a nice light pairing for the delicious healthy salad. The burger patties were a nice size and cooked to a perfect medium. They were not playing when they said SLAB of bacon! That beauty was thick and delicious. There was quite a bit of bacon fat which I'm personally not a fan of so I tore it off but I know some people love it. The sauce on the burger could have been a bit more plentiful and had more flavor, although having more could have given it the flavor that was needed. The bun was soft, buttery, but sturdy enough to handle the patties. Overall my hotel meal was very good! It also seemed to be a popular Friday night option since the place was packed and there was even a wait for tables!

While Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Cuba share similar colonial pasts, different historical trajectories have resulted in the distinctions in national cuisine. Common gastronomies of the Caribbean are obviously fish and seafood in general, and also coconut. But they also love pork, rice, beans, plantains, and spices such as cumin and oregano, and herbs like cilantro. Rooted in the owner's Puerto Rican and Cuban family culinary journey, I decided to pay a visit to their newest location, Terrill Road Rotisserie in Plainfield, for lunch. Upon arrival with the music playing in a cozy, casual, energetic vibe at this family-owned/operated establishment, I was greeted by Brandon and had the whole place to myself for a moment, but it does get crowded. Similar to the Linden facility, their menu consisted of the fusion of Latin flavors featured on 2 kiosks with pictures of every dish so one knows what one's getting for takeout or dine-in. Their menu consists a variety of combos, rotisserie bowls, and sides. I decided on a Roast Pork Bowl with arroz con gandules, sweet plantains, coleslaw, street corn salad, and asparagus. The meal was well seasoned, perfectly cooked, and deliciously tasty. The kitchen staff puts their heart and soul into every dish. Portions were healthy for two meals. The price was reasonable in that it won't break one's wallet. The owners, Brian and Mariela, cook with fire, flavor, and love. I can recommend this place.
