I recently stopped by Rotisserie in Plainfield, and it did not disappoint. Brandon took our order and made the whole experience even better. He knew the menu inside and out, gave great recommendations, and pointed us toward the Pink Beans. Absolutely delicious. Honestly, I could eat those by themselves and be happy. We ordered the 1/2 rack of charred ribs and a Cuban from the Combos menu, with yellow rice and peas, pink beans, and black beans on the side. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying. The ribs were falling off the bone, tender, savory, and seasoned flawlessly. The Cuban was also solid, and the sides pulled everything together perfectly. The food and service were fantastic, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and portions. Only thing missing? Mac and cheese and cornbread. If they added those, I'd probably be there right now. I'd definitely go back, and I'd absolutely recommend it. If you stop by, ask for Brandon and tell him this review brought you in for lunch. Rooted in the owner's Puerto Rican and Cuban family culinary journey, I decided to pay a visit to their newest location, Terrill Road Rotisserie in Plainfield, for lunch. Upon arrival with the music playing in a cozy, casual, energetic vibe at this family-owned/operated establishment, I was greeted by Brandon and had the whole place to myself for a moment, but it does get crowded. Similar to the Linden facility, their menu consisted of the fusion of Latin flavors featured on 2 kiosks with pictures of every dish so one knows what one's getting for takeout or dine-in. Their menu consists a variety of combos, rotisserie bowls, and sides. I decided on a Roast Pork Bowl with arroz con gandules, sweet plantains, coleslaw, street corn salad, and asparagus. The meal was well seasoned, perfectly cooked, and deliciously tasty. The kitchen staff puts their heart and soul into every dish. Portions were healthy for two meals. This Rotisserie is located in a great and convenient location. The parking lot is on the smaller side so I can see that if it got too busy that it would be difficult to find parking. My mom, sister, and I decided to do take out but they do have plenty of indoor seating. My sister and I both decided to try the salad bowl which is the vegan option. With the salad bowl you get to select 4 sides to add to your bowl. I picked the black beans, pico de gallo, white rice, and sweet plantain. My sister and I also ordered a medium size fry to share. My mother ordered the roasted pork combo and got the asparagus and potato salad for her sides. My mother mentioned that she enjoyed her food but she wished she was given a little more asparagus but she said that the roasted pork was tender. As for the salad bowl my sister and I both agreed that the salad bowl was okay but we both aren't fans of arugula which was the type of lettuce used for the bowls which we weren't aware of and we weren't fans of the vinegar type dressing that came with the salad bowl. With that being said the other stuff in the bowl was pretty tasty. So next time I definitely think I will try another bowl instead of the salad bowl. The service was great! read more

This store was a pirate-themed BBQ and ice cream stand for years, which became the popular Jessica's Cafe, which moved to a larger space in downtown Fanwood. The owner still had the lease here, so they opened a Mexican restaurant, which folded after a few months. Now, it's a takeout rotisserie chicken and churrasco joint. I sampled it last night and was very impressed. I got a whole chicken with spicy verde sauce on the side, a pint each of the gandule rice, cole slaw, and Mexican street corn salad. For about $40, it was enough food to feed 3-4 people. Everything was delicious. The chicken was perfectly cooked and flavorful. This place now goes into my limited rotation of local takeout food, along with China House on Rte. 22 in Scotch Plains and the Monkey Thai Diner in Clark. read more

Sorry I didn't take pics! I tried this spot a few weeks ago. I got an extra order of sweet plantains, 1/2 chicken combo with arroz con granules, red beans and a side of mango salsa. The chicken is seasoned perfectly, the rice was not overcooked or dry and the red beans were an extra touch to pour over the rice. Plantains were super sweet and the portions are great for the price. I was able to eat dinner and have leftovers for lunch the next day. They have been open maybe 2-3 months at the plfd location. The staff were friendly and helpful with all my questions. You can order online, call or go in and order on the kiosk or with a member of the staff. You can do rake out or there is indoor seating available. u can see the kitchen and the chefs preparing the food. They also have a linden nj location as well. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I got takeout there last week and it exceeded my expectations by far. I got the half rack of ribs combo, the rotisserie chicken combo, and the roast pork combo, and everything was delicious. The ribs were fall-of-the-bone tender with a flavorful sauce. Not swimming in sauce, but just the right amount with a depth of flavor I didn't expect. The coleslaw was vinegar based, not creamy, which is the way I like it, fresh and crisp. Also with great flavor. The fries were nice, and there were plenty of them. The chicken was also very moist and tender with a tangy sauce. The plantains were good. The roast pork was fantastic, which along with a generous portion of yellow rice made two whole meals. The potato salad was also so good and interesting the way it was seasoned. Wow! This is a relatively small place, easy to miss on Terrill road, but surprisingly very good food. First time there today because I'd heard good things. Had one of their grilled chicken bowls with a few sides....one of which was plantains that you just don't see everywhere. My expectations were not high, despite the very positive reviews, because I am very picky cook, often disappointed by outside food. Let me tip my hat to the chef and creators of the menu, because everything was on point, moist, well seasoned and representative of the best of latin home cooking. The chicken was delicious, the plantains juicy and tender, and the rice, usually dry and flavorless at takeout restaurants, was just as good as my own.
