But I don't think we've ever fallen as head-over-heels in love with one as we did when we set foot into the Russo Pastry Shop. It's one of the most visually stunning bakeries I've ever seen! Walking into the store reminded me of the moment in the Wizard of Oz movie when the images transform from black and white into color. That's because vibrant, bright, gorgeous colors are everywhere inside Russo's. An embarrassment of riches are everywhere in the form of cannolis, cookies, pastries, and cake slices, And if you want some savory treats to accompany your sweet treats, well... no worries because Russo has pizzas, calzones, grinders, frozen pastas, parmigianas, and soups. We picked up a gorgeous slice of White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake, and it was so fantastic it's hard to put into words. We went into their freezer case and picked up two entrees -eggplant parmigiana and chicken parmigiana. They were priced as a $16.99 BOGO deal. We had both last week, and the portions in the containers were easily splitable for the two of us. The chicken parm seemed to have more inside the container than the eggplant did, and we both thought it was better than the eggplant. In essence we ended up with four dinner portions for just $16.99. A solid Italian bakery, with a pretty good cannoli. Came here on a whim. The signage up front was bright and very effective. Came in for some random dessert items, and were not disappointed. The mom and pop were wrapping up their night, and we went through the full lineup with the pops in tow. We got 5 cannolis, and a couple cake pops to eat on the way home. The cannolis were good. The filling was fresh and the original was well done and not overly sweet. The other cannolis we got were more of the chocolate covered ones, and they were good but very thick and hard to bite into. They were pretty much submerged in chocolate then filled with frosting. Even for my sweet tooth, it was a lot to handle. The cake pops were moist and flavorful. Nice little bites of cake. They're very pretty desserts, and they are unapologetically decadent. I like the traditional fare, but you need a strong dessert stomach to handle the modern cannolis read more

Ordered a cake for my mother in law's birthday and wanted pink and purple flowers. Flowers being the key word here. What I got was several piles of piped frosting that did not even remotely resemble flowers. I was extremely disappointed since it was her 80th and really wanted a beautiful cake. I took all the "flowers" off and redid it with real flowers. The cake itself was very good however. Fast forward to my birthday. My partner ordered a cake for my birthday. Once again, got those same ridiculous flowers (not a big deal) but the filling inside was frozen. We ordered a chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse filling. This was the final straw. Won't be going back there. I've had better cakes from grocery stores and for the price, better quality. read more

I am OBSESSED with their in house pastries. If it's not a cannoli or a cheesecake it's a coffee cake. NEVER disappoints. Definitely a local hidden pastry/ bakery gem. Came here late last night and stopped back in (shortly) after for another pasty. I loved that this was family owned and operated and the lady who rung my transaction up reminded me of my Sicilian grandmother. Sfogliatella are made fresh and kept right behind the counter! I was impressed by how crispy the cannolis were.. especially considering they were already filled with ricotta in the case! Usually as soon as cannolis are filled, they start to wilt! I have no idea what this place does differently but my dad could not believe it! I didn't give it one star because the people who work here are very pleasant. BUT...the quality of the pastries has been on a steady decline for many years. Yesterday we picked up some cannoli for a dinner party, and they were just awful. The shells were soggy and the filling had little flavor and a nasty, chalky consistency. Adorable traditional Italian bakery. Stopped in for a snack. Grabbed a slice of spinach ricotta pizza which was absolutely delicious! The crust was crispy, chewy and fluffy. Really great crust! We tried the tiramisu cannoli and a custard zeppole. The cannoli was unique and delicious and the Zeppole was not overly sweet with cherries. Super friendly staff. We were talking about pastry from my birth place (India), which I dearly miss. In the same conversation I was recommended to give Russo's a try. I'll have to say they were right. Though they are not similar the consistency of the cake, taste and the moisture ratio were damn close. I went with Pistachio,and German chocolate and I have to say I had to go back there to order my pistachio wedding cake. The chef at my wedding tasted and was impressed by the cake. The cake has the right amount of moisture, fluff, cream and the crunchy nuts. It's not that far from home, so I'll be making frequent visits to try different flavors overtime. Stay tuned for updates. On my search for cannolis, we found this place that's conveniently located near the Enfield mall strip that we frequently visit. They have so many different flavors of cannolis that it was hard to decide. We ended up trying the classic cannoli, mint chocolate, tiramisu, snickers. and oreo. I was not impressed with the flavored cannolis as the filling tasted more like flavored whipped cream. The classic ones were delicious! Although not the most impressive compared to what I've had before, I'll definitely be back as they were still delicious and it's the most convenient for us. I've been there twice, and I love some of their cannolis. I like the ones that actually have ricotta cheese in it. I'm not a fan of the frosting filled ones which targets the younger kiddos. The "rainbow" Italian cake (me and the kiddos call it) is really good too. I recently went there two times to try and get a cake, but both times they were closed. The first time was understandable because they are closed on Mondays and I didn't know that so I checked their hours. I made a trip out there again the next day which said they were open till 8 PM. When I drove into the parking lot, they were closed. I'm not sure if they closed because it was slow or if they decided to change over to winter hours... But they should post that on their website so that way people who make a trip out there isn't wasting their time if they are closed. Not sure if I will be returning anytime soon as I'm at the point where I'll be going to Costco or bj's as they have a more reliable hours of operation. read more

I've been here a few times with my parents and relatives, who used to order cannolis from there. including the Oreo/cookies n cream one which I loved. The first time I went inside I had a piece of chocolate fudge cake with a slice of pepperoni pizza. The cake was absolutely delicious, and I especially loved how it had a nice, rich and thick layer of fudge within the cake layers. The staff running the counter are always very nice and sweet. The pizza, on the other hand, has always been a disappointment to me. I don't get how my parents somehow think this is one of the best pizzas they've had. The texture of the dough with the cheese doesn't feel right, there is so little sauce that I can't even taste it, and it, combined with the pepperoni grease gives the pizza a slimy feel when eating it, and always gives me a nauseous feeling in my stomach afterwards, it's hardly edible. I tried a takeout of it once, and it wasn't any better. The sauce was way too sweet, and it literally brought back bad memories of the pizza served for "Pizza Day" at my school. In spite of this though, I'll still return solely to try out whatever other cakes they have (I think the German chocolate one looks good). If you must go here, go for the cakes, cannolis and pastries. If you're looking for a pizza in Enfield though, skip it. read more

I was in the area for work and saw the reviews of this place and wanted to come. I got a New York style cannoli, a lime cheesecake, and a chocolate fudge cake slice. It looked pretty good and wasn't too expensive. When I came home and was able to have it for dessert, the whole entire cannoli was soaked, the reason why was that they had a cherry on the cannoli. It ruined the texture of the cannoli, especially the chip. I tried it anyways to see if it tasted good, and wow. All I could taste was sugar, the cherry made it overly sweet. The filling wasn't ricotta, it was almost like whipped cream. It was a letdown, but I wanted to see if the cake was any better. Short answer was no, the cake was super sweet and all I could taste was the very rich and thick frosting. So going to the cheesecake was pretty worrying, since the last two things were very sweet. When I looked at the cheesecake, the lime on top was candy. Not even a real lime, just a candy lime with sugar coated on it. The cheesecake it self was actually pretty decent, but the sugar from the frosting and the "lime" kind of ruined it. Even though it was super sweet, it wasn't that bad, which is why I am leaving three stars. Dang, what can I say? This unassuming bakery off one of the main drags in Enfield has some of the prettiest, tastiest pastries around! I have truly never seen a cannoli counter like this one. While most options are not "traditional," you'll certainly find something you like with options like Twix, cookie dough, red velvet, and mint chocolate. (See my pics!) I decided to try this place out and bought a few cake slices for someone's birthday because they preferred a variety. I bought the tiramisu, fruit cake, lemon cake, strawberry shortcake, and chocolate mousse. The chocolate chip cookie caught my eye as well so I decided to try it. I am truly not a fan of these types of cakes because of the cream filling so I am very biased. My boyfriend, who doesn't mind cream fillings, thought the cakes tasted mediocre and there wasn't anything to rave about. The cake was moist and the cake slice portions were generous for a decent price though. The only item that I thought was delicious was the chocolate chip cookie.
