I'm from California and I've only been to one Italian Bakery which is in San Francisco. I was happy to find this location in Springfield. From my observation upon driving up, I didn't notice a private parking lot, but there was plenty of street parking. The building is easy to find. There is a beautiful mural of what it looks like historic figures on the side of their building. Service was fast. I ordered amaretto cookies, a couple of raspberry mousse cannolis, a peanut butter cup cheese cake, a slice of ricotta cake, and a slice of rum cake. Raspberry mousse cannoli: Tasted very tart. Eat it immediately before the pastry shell gets soft. Rum cake: Sounds delicious but it was okay. I didn't like the texture of the cake because it was very dense. Ricotta cake: Recommended. Peanut butter cup cheesecake: Highly recommended. Amaretto cookies: DELICIOUS. I should've bought more. Prices are reasonable compared to the bakeries in California. Spent $20 for everything. Will definitely return whenever I need my Italian pastry fix. read more

we have used this bakery for decades and this past birthday my mother purchased a custom order fruit cake for my birthday. She ordered it for the day of the party ... the cake was dry and way below expectations . She called the bakery to inform them , of the dry fruitless cake and our disappoint . The manager / baker stated it was our fault for not serving it the next day . We stated no one informed us of this and he stated we should have known, because he did not believe us he made my mother again drive to the bakery, which is 30 minutes away only to tell her the cake was fine & did not offer any kind of compensation or even an apology. Despite the money spent an apology of any kind would have been welcomed. This has been our go to spot for all family, birthdays, and even friends. It was bad enough that the cake was so disappointing but even worse was the lack of service /the response of the manager . We will now not be using this bakery, which is incredibly frustrating, an apology or some recognition of the negative experience we had was not offered at all . I don't usually do this. But this got me going. Went to La Fiorentina on Sunday morning. Spent $65 on cupcakes, cakes and cookies. Got home with the twins and mom and the box with the cakes was FULL of ants. The video doesn't really do them justice. The cookies were fine and I have NOT had any issues with ants before or since. Called to complain. Was told the ants could not possibly have come from the store so it must have been where I kept them. And she was rude as hell on top of it. Never again. It was March 19 so a trip to La Fiorentina Pastry Shop was in order. We shared a regular (cream filled) and a chocolate covered Zeppole. We took them to go as well as pasta fagioli and ciabatta bread. It's a great place with great service. The pastry shop is combined with a small Italian market with fresh pork sausage made on premises and lots of to go options. We may have to return here to try the Deli side of this business, but this visit was simply to try the pastry shop side. Seeing so many delicious looking items for sale in the display case, my wife decided upon the Babà al Rum that was filled with custard. This Naples pastry is a yeasted brioche-like cake coated with a rum-spiked citrus syrup. The cake was truly light textured and the custard filling was delicious. It went very well with her Latte which was very tasty also. After having the clerk describe each of about 6 different cakes that were on display in the case I chose the Rum Cake. It was sooooo good and you could even see some of the rum settled around the bottom layer of the cake that had reached its saturation point. There were also layers of vanilla and chocolate custard and a whipped cream top. I opted for a regular black coffee. Service was friendly and helpful. Our tab for so much deliciousness was a reasonable $10.65. read more

I bought a cake and there was a finger nail marks from someone's fingernails of one of the workers on the frosting of the cake. This poses health and hygiene concerns for someone nails to be imprinted onto the cake frosting. They refused to refund me and kept the cake. I have been coming here for decades. Just went to order a cake from here. I wanted a strawberry cake with no peaches or nuts. Server Elisa noted they have strawberry cake as I have people that are allergic to peaches and nuts. I picked a cake that she said had strawberries only. I came home and did a celebration for my mom. Cake was cut and was given out to not be strawberries. Unsure of the cake at this point to find out it's a cake with chocolate chip and tastes like it had nuts. We called the bakery and spoke with one of the bakers She stated it had hazelnut nuts in it. So she gave the phone to the manager and he said it's not their fault as they are unsure of the story and that it's our fault we should have never cut the cake and handed it out. So he's basically blaming us that we purchased the wrong cake and they only go by what we order. He was rude and said we are adults and should have known they are allergic to certain cakes.Whike talking he hung up on me. So I honestly will not go back to this place and I have always ordered cakes from here plus mention it to many friends and families. The cannoli are the best in all of New England. Seriously better than some I've had in Brooklyn. Just the plain ones with chocolate chips, hazelnuts and orange zest...outrageous. They are as authentic as you'll get, nit the fake cream you find in many non-Italian restaurants that try to pretend. And, we're so lucky they also make them for BIG Y Supermarkets. So we get bakery quality anytime we want. Surprisingly, the crusts are still crunchy, even though they are pre-filled at the market. You can tell it's high quality ricotta and ingredients. I visited yesterday August 9 2019 and was hoping to find cocunut tarts and creme puffs. They had creme puffs but apparently the lady at the counter had no clue what a coconut tart is. Their pastries were unlabeled so I asked her what's this and what's that and the only ones she was able to identify were the creme puffs and the eclairs she had no clue what anything else is called. So I ordered some creme puffs and an eclair. When I got home I realized these creme puffs and eclair must be weeks old because the pastries were as hard as a rock. One of the creme puffs I took a bite off its hard days-old bread-like pastry and it tasted so sour I immediately spit it out. I guess that creme puff was even older than the other ones I received because the others didn't have that foul sour taste although they still were hard and tasted so bland they probably should use italian bread instead. I purchased a cake a couple of weeks ago for my son's confirmation. I have been buying cakes at La Fiorentina my who life, they are always incredible. When I ordered it, I asked for a frosting cross on top, they said they would have to charge me $15 extra for that. So I said ok. It was a very special occasion. When I picked up the cake it was not a frosting cross, but a small sugar cross that they placed on. I was disappointed, but it was not a huge deal. We went out for dinner that night and brought the cake. When I cut into the cake, I knew something was not right. It felt hard when cutting into it. When I handed out the pieces, no one was eating it after one bite. I took a bite and it was hard and tasted like it was freezer burnt. It was horrible. We left 80% of the cake on the table. When I called the bakery the next day I was told the owner was not in on Mondays and the worker was less than apologetic, but she would call me on Tuesday. No one has ever called. read more

Wow while I really like the MGM this place is a must go while there.Have tried a few of their pastries But love there rum cake slices and carrot cake slices .This place is every bit as good as Mikes Pastry in the north end of Boston but cheaper and with a nicer quieter cafe atmosphere. Their cold cut deli selection looks top quality; and a sandwich seems to be on the cheaper price point compared to Boston establishments..GOT TO TRY THAT sometime.
