By the time the lady had time to answer my question, my order was timed out and I had to start all over. Then my chicken cutlet ssandwich comes with broccoli rabe, but the kiosk suggested I add it and pay more for it. WHAT? The friendly lady came out from behind the counter to help me with the order. So, I milled aroiund with other confused looking customers waiting for their food. 20 minutes later I got my food and FINALLY left. The food is good but very expensive, the staff is friendly, but I'll never go thru that again. Their bakery is exceptional but they get it from La Dolce Vita Italian bakery in Wescoville, it's a great Italian bakery in Wescoville. Their bread comes from NY and itself is worth the trip there. The frozen section is exceptional as well. Just don't order a sandwich unless you have the day off or like me, are retired!

The pillowy little pockets didn't even need sauce (I ate one plain like a toddler). Nothing against the sauce: it's a celebration of the tomato, bright and smooth. I also got to watch the master (Bivona) at work. It was like what I imagine witnessing the efforts of a Renaissance sculptor to be like. It was also fun and educational watching him guide customers and give them a tour of the day's pasta shapes. For me, one of the best marks of quality is when you can look at the pasta and see the texture. You know that means your sauce is going to cover all that surface area, that will adhere brilliantly to your noods. The Cannookie (chocolate chip cookies sandwiching cannoli cream) was way more delicious than it had any right to be. When my order was ready, the owner (or manager) handed me my bag, apologized for the wait, and insisted I take a free dessert from their fridge. I hadn't complained and honestly didn't mind waiting, but that gesture spoke volumes. Some might see waiting as an inconvenience worth some sort of refund/reward, but given all of the circumstances I noted earlier, I see that as a sign of a small business thriving. So, to me, this gesture showed me how much they truly value their customers and how committed they are to creating a positive experience worth returning to. The fact that they went above and beyond only confirmed why Ciao has quickly become one of my favorite local spots. And can't forget... the cheesecake was also great!
