the vibe of this place was so cute! I love all the little shops in Lakewood and this is one I'd definitely come back to again. The food wasn't out of this world or anything but the people were really nice and cool! Tasted like a healthy focaccia sandwich and I was fine with that!
Super friendly staff that really try to get to know you in the short interaction they have with you. I often cave bagel sandwiches and there's not too many places to customize them so I'm so happy Pastimes do that! They use Cleveland bagels and it's filling and so satisfactory!
This is soo cute!! I got the keepsake and it was amazing! I got it on focaccia and that added the extra touch! It was busy but service was fast and efficient! I also got a chai and was a little disappointed it definitely didn't taste like chai at all! Wouldn't get that again but my friend got as told by ginger and that was good! Would come back
Lakewood, Ohio, you are in for a breakfast treat. Run don't walk to Pastimes Cafe. The name is a reminder of the olden days, the past; hence, PAST TIMES! I visited during the first week of their opening. I first came on Saturday, 21 February 2026 about 10 mins before they closed at 2pm. Sadly, they had no food left but they gave me a complimentary cup of green tea to go which was so sweet of them. The next day, I arrived after church and it was around 12:30pm so I was able to order food. BACKGROUND -- Pastimes Café, previously a mobile breakfast business (food truck) started in 2019. In 2026, they opened their brick and mortar store in Lakewood at the former El Tango Mexican restaurant. They are also known for environmental preservation because they "harvest common milkweed seeds from native plants, then distribute them in small printed envelopes at the café." Monarch caterpillars are endangered and "milkweed is the only plant that monarch caterpillars eat" so Pastimes cafe is helping preserve these butterflies. FOOD -- They have a full menu of bagels, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, eggs, plus coffee and tea drinks. In my February 2026 visit (on a Sunday), I ordered a late breakfast (or brunch). I got the Mornin Glory ($11) which is two Oat Pancakes that comes with syrup and butter on the side. I also got a side of bacon ($1) which, to my surprise, I wasn't charged for so that was nice of them. An order of bacon comes with 3 pieces and I only wanted 1-2 and the man working just added it for me, on the house. The Oat pancakes were soooo delicious. They were not as sweet as regular pancakes but they tasted really good especially with adding syrup and/or butter. The bacon was crispy and cooked to perfection. Some of my photos didn't link to my review but they are here on this business Yelp page. You can see photos of the tasty pancakes that I ate. SERVICE -- Outstanding! I was greeted when I walked in and felt very welcomed. The owner Evan is super nice. Because they are new, they get very busy so be patient with them. During my second visit, I was kindly offered a glass of water as I waited for my to-go breakfast order. HOURS -- Monday - closed, Tuesday - Friday - 7am - 2pm, and Saturday + Sunday - 8am to 2pm. SEATING - Limited but around 15-20 people can fit inside spread across the table and chairs plus the tabletop seating. OTHER BUSINESS INFO. -- "This past April (2025), Laisure (the owner) got the keys to El Tango Latin Grill (14224 Madison Ave.), which closed after 24 years. If all goes according to plan, he will open Café Pastimes sometime in February, which he describes as an extension of his popular food truck concept." // "Evan Laisure launched his breakfast-food concept from a tent that he'd set up at farmers' markets. In 2021, he graduated to a well-equipped trailer, which made regular visits to the Lakewood Truck Park and other destinations. And now, Laisure is advancing once again, this time with a brick-and-mortar operation in Lakewood." -- online search LOCATION: In Lakewood on Madison Ave. PARKING: Street parking only. A new cafe in lakewood... except this one actually has some FOOD!!! Finally!!! I LOVED this place! It was a cute cafe located in Madison Ave! There is lots of space to sit inside, I was there pretty early so I'm sure it would get busy later in the morning or day! My boyfriend decided on the classic cappuccino- slurped it down so we know that means it's good!! I was starving!! There were so many options that looked delicious.... But ultimately decided on the breakfast "The Truth" burrito and... WOW! Probably my favorite breakfast burrito I've ever had - seriously! It was $15 but it was pretty big!!!! Flour tortilla packed with rice, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, cheddar cheese, pickled red onion, and spicy mayo (I added hot sauce) AND WOW!! DELICIOUS! I wish I could go every day but I don't have that money!!! I washed it down with a "as told by ginger latte" - had ground ginger, brown sugar, & honey!!! It was delicious definitely not too gingery which can be a problem for a lot of people! I seriously recommend people giving this place a try, studying here, or a cute little coffee date! You will probably see me around because I am 1000% coming back for this burrito!
We almost literally stumbled into this place on their not-quite-open-yet weekend when they were doing a dry run. When we walked in, everyone looked surprised to see us and apologetically and politely told us that they were getting ready for their hard open the following week and apologized again. We were intrigued with the look of the place and decided to come back several times over the next few weeks and yet every time we walked up to the front door, the line was intimidating enough that we kept walking. That was our mistake. We walked in Sunday after the time change, and that may have tipped the scales in our favor, as there were only about five people online in front of us. We decided to split the classic breakfast sandwich with sharp cheddar as well as a vanilla latte and a mocha. Service was quick and while the acoustics of the place are a little tough to hear them calling orders, they do a great job of making sure to call several times when your order is ready. The sandwich was unbelievably delicious with cream cheese, avocado, and who knows what else but it was phenomenal. My only complaint, and it's a weak one at best, the compostable napkins are thin and barely do the job. You almost have to throw each one away after you wipe your face or hands. Makes me wonder if it defeats the purpose. The decor is so beautiful and welcoming. I've got photos of it attached to the review and I'll let those speak for themselves. But it's just such a nice comfortable space. Plenty of tables for two people or a really small family. Didn't see many people three to a table or more. They also have counters with barstools for when they going gets tight. At the risk of inducing more people to try this place out and make the lines even longer, I can't hold back. This place is awesome.
There's nothing like a new Lakewood cafe on a Saturday morning to remind you of how densely populated this city is. The line was practically out the door when I arrived, but I decided to wait. This was the second weekend they were opened and of course people were excited to try it out. I probably waited in line for 30-40 minutes, but it was fine, everyone was happy and calm and the staff was busting their butts to get orders out. The space is super cute. They are going for an old-timey feel with mosaic glass and wood. I liked the wallpaper a lot. There are a few seats and a small countertop bar. All of this would seemingly be enough space and seating on a normal day, however, since the place was so packed, it definitely didn't feel like enough. The menu offers a variety of breakfast sandwiches and a make-your-own menu. They serve their sandwiches on bagels from Cleveland Bagel and focaccia bread from Leavened (I think). They also serve buttermilk oat pancakes and have a pancake sandwich, which looked interesting. There's also breakfast burritos and rice bowls. I got the classic sandwich which had bacon, cheese, cream cheese, avocado and pickled red onion. It was PHENOMENAL! Everything on it worked so well together. My favorite part was probably the egg. It says it was fried, but I would have thought it was boiled because the yolk was so softly cooked and it was not greasy at all. Really a perfect egg. The avocado spread, cream cheese, and pickled red onion were all perfect. I also got a vanilla cortado which was very tasty and perfect while I waited for my food. My food took about 10 minutes which wasn't bad. The sandwich looked beautiful and I'm so sad my phone died before I got my food. Customer service was fantastic. They were super kind and calm during a really busy time which made me have no problem with waiting. The woman who took my order was patient and gave a recommendation. I appreciated that she didn't rush anyone and provided me with the same care that she would had there been no one else there. This place is nowhere near my house, but I will definitely stop in anytime I'm in the area and looking for a delicious breakfast sandwich. I also really want to try the pancakes.
I tried the wildflower latte and first light pancakes. The coffee is from good kind so you know it's good. I preferred the savory breakfast burrito to my boyfriend ordered. Curious to try the chai and focaccia next time

Just had the best experience at Pasttimes Cafe. The food brought me right back to my childhood...comforting, familiar, and so full of flavor. It's rare to find a place where you know the food is truly real and not processed. You can taste the difference. So grateful for spots like this! Can't wait to go back!!!

Delicious, welcoming, bright and sunny from the mood to the people you cannot go wrong at Pastimes Cafe. Nestled in the heart of Lakewood, walkable or plenty of parking street side, get to Pastimes early if you want a seat inside. Today we opted for breakfast, with the addition of coffee and an espresso for my husband. We ordered at the counter, all while loving the jade plants, they are thriving in such a wonderful atmosphere. I ordered a ln everything bagel with salmon and spicy mayo (they forgot to add the egg and capers) it was still delicious. My husband ordered the chorizo rice bowl with a side of oatmeal blueberry pancakes. You can never go wrong with a bagel from Cleveland Bagel, chewy and perfect especially with the spicy mayo...runny nose and all. The pancakes were very part of delicious, you might think you are eating dessert. The staff is so welcoming, they ask all the right follow up questions and make suggestions that pair perfectly. Once seated, you wait for your order to be called, totally worth the wait in such a beautiful space. read more
We enjoyed our visit to Pastimes Cafe. We arrived at the right time. Right after we received our order there was a line out the door. The staff were friendly and helpful. You have to place your order at the counter and they call your name. Seating is limited inside. We had to sit at the bar. They also have some seating outside. They serve Goodkind coffee and it was very good. The vegan sandwich was good as well. They give you a choice of bagel for the sandwich. They serve bagels from Cleveland Bagel. The service was quick after placing our order. As with many Lakewood businesses parking is on the street. read more

I've been wanting to try this place after seeing positive reviews online. What a great addition to Lakewood! My burrito was so yummy and my seasonal hot latte (As told by Ginger) was perfection. Will definitely come again. The staff were all so nice and engaging. I want sure how hot my burrito would be so they offered the sauce in the side. I'm so glad they suggested this because I'm weak sauce when it comes to hot sauce. read more

Some of the best bagel sandwiches I've ever had. They make it right there, which is neat to see. Location is GORGEOUS and art is amazing. Service was exceptional. Definitely will be back! read more
