Let me preface this with the fact that my Great Uncle had made pre-arrangements with another funeral home... which closed a few years back (he was 94 at the time and living in a nursing home). As his Power of Attorney, I was put in the position to have to redo everything. Colonial was fantastic with helping me through all of the details. They were able to review what the previous funeral home had arranged and were able to match everything working within the costs that were preset. When I left after that initial meeting, I felt that everything was in good hands. Fast forward, a few years later when I received the call that my Great Uncle had passed, Colonial really stepped up. He and his wife were the among the first people in Forest Glen when they moved here in 1945. Much of this area was just prairie & grasslands when they moved in. He told me that many of the roads were gravel. He & his wife had been married 67 years and were always contributing to the neighborhood. Smith-Corcoran did a good job sending off a pillar of our Neighborhood, a great neighbor & person. He will be missed. Martin and his wife are old world Europeans w/a work ethic unlike most people. They were both members of Queen of All Saints. I use to see them on the Sunday's that I attended church. Great people w/a fitting send off @ Smith Corcoran & QAS. Their rooms are beautiful, rather large, and smell lovely. They have rooms off to the side for privacy with comfortable chairs and sofas in them. Their funeral services offered went flawlessly and they have a basement where you can put food for your guests attending your wake. They section it off if they have several wakes that day/night and label it so each group knows what food to take. They have a very large parking lot and are very reasonably priced. Especially when young kids are mourning the loss of a loved one this is a nice place with people who work there who do not seem to have their nose up in the air or to be curt with children.
