Patel Brothers is a family owned grocery chain. Its a great place to get hard-to-find international stuff. Wholefoods has started keeping some of Indian spices but priced high. Patel bros gives us economic supplies with good quality. It is our family's go-to spot for Indian groceries like if I wanted mustard seeds, or red chillie powder or lime pickle. They do have a good selection of vegetables and frozen food. Ready-to-eat parathas/rotis/nan are great here. Love the 'samosa' selection. And yes, they do carry good selection of fresh and frozen Indian sweets. From outside it looks like a small corner shop, but it is huge inside. I've seen other Indian shops not upto the mark in cleanliness but this one does make every attempt to keep the store clean. Also, when most stores were short of supplies or hiked up prices on essentials, Patel Bros did not and supplies were available at the same reasonable prices. I recommend shopping at Patel store. No comparison with Wholefoods or TraderJoe, but they have their own unique selection of food items. read more

Very dangerous!!! The people who shop here don't know what a stop sign means, they ALL drive right thru the 4 way stop sign just outside the store. All Indian. They are crazy bad drivers and are gonna cause an accident in the shopping center. Be warned. read more

I can't believe I've never reviewed these guys. I have been coming here once every two weeks since the last 3 years. Plenty of good stock of indian groceries and vegetables. Vegetables are much cheaper than what you get in super markets in philly. No tomatoes and onions sold per piece. Buy what you want per pound. They have plenty of variety of frozen vegetables, ready meals and parathas. They also have a good refrigerator section for chappatis, parathas and idli/ dosa aatas. Maybe the patel brothers in Edison will have more variety but this location is pretty good for it's proximity to Philly. Special note- I went to shop here when most stores were running out of stock due to the coronavirus quarantines. Patel brothers was well stocked with fresh produce and no price markups. read more

I have been buying Patel brand 4lbs rice for more than a year on a monthly basis - sona masoori and idli rice. More and more I am finding disgusting weevils in all the bags appearing when I open the bag. I went to the store to alert them. Jigar Patel the manager was neither helpful nor did he recognize the subpar quality of the product on the shelves. Instead he said I'm the sole customer complaining. He challenged me asking if I keep the bags in the garage - I said no, they are inside my air conditioned home. I sent him pictures and also brought in the bags with bugs. He quickly gave me a refund and refused to address the larger issue of the horrible product. Buyers beware. read more

Patel Brothers is a family owned small chain of Indian grocery stores in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The operation in Bensalem, PA, on Street Road doesn't look like much on the outside located in a rather forlorn strip center, but once inside the vast array of produce, frozen and dry goods is fairly amazing. For a first visit we were pleasantly surprised at the quantity and quality of the fresh produce. We found it to be better priced than our regular supermarkets and very competitive with our local farmers' market. We ended up stocking up on some very interesting south Asian veggies, especially hot peppers. Additionally, we picked up a few frozen items (garlic naan, veggie samosas) just to check them out, and some henna for natural hair color applications. On our way out we marveled at the low cost of the five bags we hauled out of there. The aisles were very well stocked, and it was possible to buy rice and flour in bulk. There were many customers on Sunday morning and it was a bit crowded moving through the store, but this presented the opportunity to talk to some folks about their experience at Patel Brothers, as well as their recommendations for what to purchase. Very useful. Staff was ever present and helpful in finding what we sought. This was a first visit to Patel Brothers and exposure to all the amazing possibilities present in a good Indian grocery. Patel Brothers is a well known Indian grocery store in the USA. I have visited several of them. This store (Bensalem, PA) has a lot of items, almost everything. The only thing that I did not like is the space. Very narrow lanes, very difficult to maintain the distances during this pandemic situation. The store has a lot of good stuff but everytime I buy onion potatoes or bananas there the ones in the middle are rotted. Also the girls working cashier are extremely rude and cold. I picked up a tube of henna with my last visit and she literally bagged it and tossed it at me....didn't hand it, didn't set it on the counter, but seriously threw it in my direction. My boyfriend had to grab my arm to keep me from getting aggressive. Luckily I live close to the NJ border and will be going back to Star Bazaar in Lawrenceville. It's worth the drive and there are no nasty jealous indian females throwing your bags at you and refusing to say hello back or give you eye contact. read more

Although Patel Brothers is quite far away from me (a 35 - 40 min. drive) I make the trip several times a year for their excellent variety, quality, and freshness. They offer produce that I cannot find anywhere near me, and it's fresh. Their dry goods are fresh as well, which is not always the case at the smaller shops - for certain things, dal perhaps, that doesn't make much of a difference, but for items like kasoori methi it means a lot. Additionally, they'll be moving right next door to a larger shop quite shortly. read more

It's an Indian supermarket with a large selection of traditional spices and foods (especially frozen dinners!) . I noticed that they don't seem to carry any meat, though they do have milk and other dairy products (rose ice cream, anyone?) I was the only white person there, looking around, but I didn't have any problems looking at the products, because mostly everything had English on the labels. One corner of the store is dedicated to products for religious ceremonies. They had a lot of customers for a Tuesday night. The place is brightly lit and fairly clean. Their website has recipes, but they don't seem to have any flyers to advertise specials, at the store or online. A few extra clicks into it and it takes you to where you can order online, but no pictures. Having been in lots of Asian supermarkets, the prices seem very reasonable. read more

Best Indian grocery store in the Philadelphia greater region. I've tried a few of them, and Patel Brothers is one of the best across the area, whether in their NJ location or this one in Bensalem. Clean store, good products, and decent prices for the quality. Not overly cheap, but still, not bad overall. Checkout lines are speedy, cashiers are good and friendly, veggies are fresh, and the selection is good, so what more can you ask of a grocery store? read more

Always shop here. Nice place for fresh Vegetables and also frozen. Quick check out, helpful staff. Only complain is their Bathroom - they have bar soap for hand washing which is gross and unhygienic. Please replace with Liquid soap. read more

I love this place. They have everything you need and more. I come here mainly for the veggies and dried beans and stuff. The spice selection is fresh, vast and extremely cheap. I can't say much about customer service but the products are great. The frozen food section is even killer. read more

Good store on the inside... Decently stocked, decently organized, and clean. However the parking lot feels strange with random people "hanging out" in the parking lot, smoking, and sitting on the ground or on benches and staring at the shoppers as they head to their cars. I have made enough visits to this grocery store, Never Never buy Janaki Chakkalu , we were very disappointed by the oil smell , very old stock , I did a mistake again by buying the same with the intention of new stock , The bad about the product is there is no MFG and there is no EXP dates. Trashed 10 packets two times. Another Observation: Lots of the bakery items are near expiry , please make sure when buy them, chapathi atta also same story , please make sure the dates. an excellent market. i went there to buy spices and lentils, there assortment and organization is top shelf. they also have produce which i cannot explain. i know what some of the items are such as bitter melon, but how to prepare it? Anyhow i went on a saturday(before Diwali) to buy pistachios, and they are the freshest i can find and some other things and the person at the register was kind enough to hand me a box of sweets after spending $35. I have been to Titan in Astoria, spent over $300 and not even received a thank you. What a great place and i will return many times. read more

My friends and family has been going to Patel Brothers on 1915, Street Road Philadelphia for over two years and spending at an average $ 800.00 to $ 1000.00 every month, I had purchased a non stick pan about a week ago and the handle broke while cooking. It never fell and was never mishandled, I took it back today for a replacement and the manager and sales associate were so arrogant that it is not even funny. I requested them just to replace it and the manager started yelling at me for no fault of mine telling me we that when I bought it, it was intact. I will never recommend this store to any one and half the employees don't even speak English. Majority of the stores will either give you a refund or a replacement to show good faith. It's ridiculous how they treat customers for a $20.00 replacement item. Well they lost our business and I will spread the word around in the community to stop going there, instead go to the other two Indian grocery stores near by on Street Road Philadelphia. read more
