The only close by Asian store for me. Visit this store once every 2 weeks. Almost everything (Asian) is available under the same roof. Im unhappy with the veggies available here. The quality is below average. Rest everything is good. Few pulses and grains are available in a large quantity. If planning to cook Indian/Asian food at home, I would recommend to pick up your grocery list from here. There's a huge frozen food section,ready made Naans, chapathis, samosas, curries, appetizers n you also get dosa n idly batter too. I love Patel Foods. However, I'm going to give you a valuable warning. Do not ever go here on the weekend. It gets so packed you will hardly be able to move. That being said, there are so many reasons to go here beyond simply grabbing Indian food. I burn a ton of incense. You can get Nag Champa here for less than you can find it online. The other brands are also great, and dirt cheap. Need spices? Don't ever buy them at large, chain grocery store again. For what you'd pay for McCormick spices, you can get about ten times as much and it'll be much more fresh. Want great frozen food? The premade food is almost always great. The spicy mixed vegetable samosas are bangin'. The naan pizza is a personal favorite of mine. Just start trying everything. There are so many great things to be had at Patel. Patel started out small years ago and has expanded to be the areas premier Indian/Asian Grocery. This place is not like other stores in the area in that everything here is FRESH. The freshest spices, nuts, produce and Indian sweets can be found here at Patel. One of the best parts is the convenience frozen food section. A vast array of breads can be found as well as some really great freshly frozen curries and masalas. Patel is a gem! read more

Excellent selection of Indian food and ingredients for amazing prices! I moved down here from Maine where stores like this don't exist so I feel lucky to have it 15 minutes from where I live now. I love that you can buy bulk spices for $3-4 when at the grocery store a small jar is $6. They also have a great selection of incense and snacks. Want to cook some good, spicy Indian food tonight? This was my first real Indian grocery. I'd been to the small ones in various cities, the kinds that cater to those wanting Bollywood soundtracks as well as chutney, carrying a small assortment of each. This place however, while I understand is nothing next to the Indian mega supermarkets of New Jersey, has a whole lot.The inside is so exciting, don't be swayed by the warehousy-looking exterior. A fresh produce section- packets of fresh curry leaves and green mangoes along with many standard vegetables. The variety of basmati rice to choose from is astounding, and you can buy a bag that's half your size. I spent ages looking at the various dried spices and came away with a large bag of very fragrant cumin for four dollars, 2 sorts of mustard seeds and a melange of seasoning packets; tandoori, spice, chicken tikka powder (sans the chicken)and 3 kinds of curry powders. Next I found more mostly-made delicacies like dosa mix, mattar paneer and microwave-the-bag saag paneer. There are about 4 brands of every item, so it helped to be with a friend who could help. Everything is tantalizingly cheap, so you can rack up the bill fast-the mango chutney is only $1.99, but should you try the sweet as well as the garlic variety? Then there's the frozen stuff. Can we just talk about Pillsbury brand naan and stuffed paratha? What about the frozen samosas, the tamarind and coconut chutneys packaged in individual cups? The tubs of mango ice cream and kheer and kulfi, dotted with pistachios, ready to cool the fire that the mattar paneer set in your mouth? No fear, there is mango nectar and lychee juice to quench. They sell fresh samosas by the checkout and can nuke one for you-I think by then I was so laden with goods I didn't have a spare hand to carry one. ok i just down-graded my review for patel foods after cooking some of the frozen food and noticing it was past date by a few months .. check the dates when you buy food here. patel is still awesome and this wont keep me from coming back and filling my freezer with this frozen indian food nirvana. the frozen naan pizza was under $2 and was a great quick lunch at work! read more

well arranged but extremely expensive compared with other nearby Indian grocery store. The mithai ( sweets) they sell are cheaply made. I bought a kajukatli which is suppose to be made with cashew but here they make it with real peanuts and add fake rose essence to cover it up. How can you fool people like that? Never buy mithai especially kajukatli. Also, please find nearby stores for same indian grocery with cheaper price. read more

I love Patel Foods It's not very close to my house but I still prefer making my trip there instead of going to other local asian grocery places due to the quantity and the high quality of ethnic south asian foods. Last week when I walked in I noticed a lot of work is being put into the store because they are expanding and adding even more. Which makes me super excited. I buy my rice, legumes, spices here, & occasionally hard to find fruits and vegetables. Beware buying any packaged product here (or at any Asian grocery store) that does not have a clear expiration, packaging, or sell by date. I have purchased large quantities of rancid raw cashews from this store twice. I have no way of knowing when they are in fresh stock. read more
