I just bought a rotisserie chicken from stop and shop just now it has no taste no flavor, I bought one last week and yesterday Sunday and those were the best rotisserie chicken I have ever had. please I am begging you NOT LET THAT SAME PERSON PREPARE it again . Eh...it's still just OK. Still can get very crowded, but the prices are fine and it's convenient if you want to go after being at the gym (Cardio Express). Plentiful parking, which is nice if you like to keep space between your vehicle and others. The door dent risk here is pretty high if you don't. Rant Mode Activated - Watch out for other car owners who couldn't care less and have no consideration for your property. Watch out for pedestrians who don't look. Watch out for people constantly parking in the Fire Lane while waiting, because apparently the virtually unlimited parking isn't sufficient. Watch out for rude or oblivious customers. Bottle return here never goes well for me. I honestly don't know how you could improve it any, but they could minimally invest in those scanners that you take with you around the store. I prefer the S&S's in Vernon. Either one really, but primarily the one on Pitkin Road. read more

One of the more disappointing Stop & Shop locations. My first impression was that this place is a mess, literally. Aisles are cluttered with displays falling over. Forget about the clearance sections, it's like everything was tossed arbitrarily into piles. To make matters worse, the workers don't seem to care about the customers. During the middle of the day I had not one, but two associates with carts barreling right at me. I had to dodge out of the way each time. If that wasn't bad enough, in some aisles the associates were completely blocking the flow of traffic. I could understand this sloppy behavior near the close of business to replenish, but not at 2 in the afternoon. The only thing saving this place from a 1-star review was the decent natural foods section. read more

I used to shop here for fruits (fresh)and breads(I liked the bakery) .. that's about it ...everything else it's cheaper else where... But off late I have hardly been here...I guess I started to realize there is better produce with better deals out there... The store as such is laid out ok... Well organized aisles ... I stopped into this location picked out $75 worth of flowers waited 10 minutes for the lady to acknowledge me from behind the counter as she was playing with her phone. I asked her if these went together. She simply looked at me and said the sunflowers are too big, turn around and never look back. Good for staple items and earning gas discounts. Do your homework and download coupons from their website/app to maximize savings. The deli always seems to be backed up, and I've had to abandon deli items when ordering at the kiosk at the entrance because after completing my other shopping the order wasn't completed (one time after 30 minutes). Love the Nature's Promise proteins (chicken, pork, steak, seafood) and stock up when it's on sale. Bonus of a free banana or clementine for children under 12, keeps my daughter happy while we shop! read more

Absolutely a disgrace to the Stop and Shop brand. Deli counter has served me rotten meat, deli employees are rude and make 'inside' jokes about customers in front of their faces. ***Update**** went back to this store again thinking that this may have been a one time thing and nope same experience. This time the lady made my daughter feel so uncomfortable while checking out she just walked away ( mind you she's 14). She watched us scan everything like a hawk, i noticed when I looked up to see where my daughter was and made eye contact and then she looked away fast. I continued to check out and packed up my items into the bags and then into the cart like I always do and the machine must've started acting glitchy. The lady came over and was like do you need help, I told her no I'm just packing up my items. She said the cash register was flashing, I hadn't notice. she swiped her card and when the error went away she goes, " well you didn't pay for it". I assured her that I was aware and I was just packing up my items and paying when I was done. Again made to feel like I was trying to steal something. Not sure if it's a race thing or they're just being overly friendly but personal space and common sense seem to be lost here. The lady at the check out even looked at another persons phone asking about their home screen picture while she was ringing her items. Friendly staff, good selection: has gluten free items, lots of produce, ready made foods, sushi, deli is pretty good just once I got meat that went bad in about a day. Other than that one time, no issues. Store is remodeled and looks nice. read more

Update to my original review. Dropping this dump down to 1 star. My last two visits I experienced the following: First visit - While shopping I went to use their vile, smelly, filthy bathroom and saw an employee zip his fly and walk out without washing. I wanted to boil myself after leaving that disease pit, forget about washing. Second visit - Went looking for fresh veggies for dinner. As always the corn looked completely inedible. Choice 2: Asparagus - bins empty. Choice 3: Peppers and mushrooms - peppers were half rotten. Choice 4: Cucumber - Either underdeveloped or squishy and rotted through. Opted for secret options 5 - throwing container of mushrooms on the floor, go home and eat canned corn. I hate this store with a passion. read more

I shop here because of its convenient location and because my favorite brand of Food Should Taste Good tortilla chips always seem to be on sale. On the whole, I would say ShopRite's prices are cheaper (they also offer digital coupons linked to your loyalty card that you can activate on their website), so when I buy anything at Stop & Shop, I tend to stack manufacturer's coupons on top of existing sales to get the best deal. Like most grocery stores, they double manufacturer's coupons under $1.00. Service can be a bit of a mixed bag, the worst I've seen is at the customer service area, where there always seems to be a long line of people. One time I was at the self-checkout right next to the customer service area, and I ran into an issue where I needed to call for help. The light on the register was flashing right next to two employees who weren't doing anything, and they just ignored it while I stood there with a mounting line behind me. On other occasions, an employee has approached my register fairly soon after I've called for help. For me, Stop & Shop is definitely not a one stop shop, but I do see the merit in coming here for a couple of items on my grocery list every now and again. read more

I was there a week ago and didn't feel safe. Most of the employees were not wearing masks. With the new cdc guidelines most other stores employees are following them. I had a response from a google review that they are now following the new guidelines. Went there today and their employees were still not wearing masks including in the pharmacy and the deli. They have removed the direction markers in the lanes. I will not go shopping there again. read more

Quality control is sorely lacking at this store. In the last 2 weeks I bought a bottle of creamer and the next day realized the seal had been broken. So someone actually screwed the cap off and pulled up the seal. I returned it to customer service. On my 2nd trip on July 14 I bought 2 packages of lunchmeat. 4 days later I realized one had expired on June 27th, the other expired on July 12th. So the store isn't good about pulling expired products off the shelf. Took them back to customer service. I'll have to watch expiration dates more closely, but frankly I only shop at this store in an absolute pinch because it's closer to home. But its depressing and looks dirty. I prefer the Stop and Shop in Vernon. Or I'll go to Big Y. read more

They recently redid the store and it is much nicer and they do have a good selection of items. That being said the one downfall that has always been terrible and continues to be is the Deli. If you type in your order they lose it or it takes for ever and they treat you horribly. read more

Me and my mother come to stop and shop in Manchester a lot. But lately they lock the entrance to 1 of the doors in the mornings. So u have to walk all the way around. Massive grocery chain, but somehow this particular store manages to keep a small town feel while still stocking almost everything a shopper could ever want. Spotless aisles and warm lighting make shopping here as pleasant as grocery shopping can be. Look in the back next to the seafood section for hidden produce specials... Must be owned by the same family that owns Shop Rite up the street. They both seem to love selling expired food. Prices are kinda high but it is a nice looking store. Very large and seems to have a big selection of products. Just check those expiration dates. read more

If I could give zero stars on this I would. Just to clarify this is for stop n shop in Manchester store number 689. While the management team seems to legitimately care about their customers, it seems that a few of the employees do not. For example, I took my mother shopping today and the young woman whose name is Tiffany was flat out rude, sarcastic, and had no sense of customer service whatsoever. Let's not forget she had to be asked by my mother to wipe off whatever meat was on the cutter from a prior order. Flat out if that had been a man speaking to my mother that way things would have gone a whole different way. Naturally I complained to the manager who said she would handle it right away. However as a result of this I will not be bringing my mom to that store EVER again for deli meats. I'll happily take her to shop rite or something. It really is a shame on how that store has gone downhill, I know this because when I was a kid that was one of my first jobs and all of us there loved working there. It was fun, managment was amazing, and we advanced within the store. It seems like a majority of the employees there are just there for a check... I'm sorry but I'm from the belief that take pride in what you do. I dont care if it's a groc store, or flipping burgers, or cleaning toilets..take pride in what you do. Do it right or dont do it at all.. I've noticed that a good amount of employees at this store just dont care and think they are entitled to have their job. What they fail to realize is everyone is replaceable, business is business. And what happened to my mother today was bad for business. Hopefully this gets to the corporate offices and they can look into properly training some employees. Ate one of their pre-packaged stop and shop greek salads and got food poisoning. A night and experience I will not soon forget. Called the following day to inform them. Was put on hold 3 times to speak to management. I was told that the managers must be busy and that the message would be relayed to them. I have been a customer for around 30 years.....no more. This store is filthy inside and out. When you enter the store the area where shopping carts are kept is filthy. Carpets are black garbage on floor. Will only shop here in an emergency. Produce is either rotten or not ripe. I expressed my findings continously to various store managers and nothing has changed so finally gave up. This store is great. Prices are good. Never had an issue except for the deli. The older lady that works there is extremely rude. The deli was busy and she was just standing there looking at the line not doing anything. You could hear her yelling at the staff in front of customers. She doesn't try to hide the fact that she doesn't like her job. You ever walk into a place and can just tell someone hates her job? That's her. It seems to make the deli a very unwelcoming part of the store. The fact I can hear her talking under her breath about the other workers in the deli is very unprofessional. Customers should never hear someone yell at other workers. I have a family of 5 and often spend a lot of money at stop and shop. But the deli isn't improving even after I talked to the manger. So I guess I will start shopping at big y. I rather pay a little extra and feel welcomed then deal with your deli. read more

I came to Stop & Shop for its convenience with it being down the road from where I live. I have a 5 month old child who I get WIC checks for. I came shopping this afternoon and when I got to the check out isle I had realized I did not have my WIC booklet with me that I'm suppose to have each time to use my checks. Well, the cashier asks to see my booklet and I said I didn't have with me but that I can give you my ID and don't forget my daughter was in the cart. What more proof did I need that those were my checks? She calls her manager over and he tells me that he'll let me use them this time, but next time he won't without the booklet and that I better get one from WIC, putting me on the spot , trying to make an example of me. Little does he know, I've shopped there before without my WIC booklet and didn't have the cashier tell me I couldn't use my checks. Also, when I gave the cashier my ID she didn't even know how to find my last name on it . Do you think you could teach your cashier's how to read an ID before you have them question someone like myself with my situation!? Also, to tell me I couldn't use my checks here because of no booklet, is ridiculous . What if someone else came in with my checks and booklet and no ID would you of just let them use my checks cause they had my booklet because I can guarantee you that the cashier would not of ID me had I not offered it. Why don't you ID everyone in the store paying with a credit card and tell them they can't purchase there items with out proof!? Because people come in there every day with other people's cards and purchase things, so I don't appreciate your profiling . I will not be using Stop & Shop again for my WIC items. read more
