Then he was told there was no order. Manager found out that they were looking in the wrong area for the order. Husband went back to p/u order now the time is 12:30 while guests were coming at 1:30. Still does not have the order because the produce guy is still filling the order????? What the heck. The Manager Diane has not been very pleasant about this whole thing almost like it was my fault. I usually come Friday to Sunday after reviewing their weekend sale flyer on the website. I usually do not buy banchan and Korean rice cake from Hmart since they don't taste authentic. The banchan at Kasia are made by two Korean ladies and they said MSG were not used. I tried sauteed bell flower and seasoned sesame leaves and they tasted excellent. Also, the rice cake tasted great. Their fresh chodang soft tofu tasted so good when I made soondubu stew at home. The local fuji apples were juicy and sweet and Chinese vegetables on sale were very fresh. The belt fish were cleaned thoroughly. But beef chuck eye steak was too tough and wasn't trimmed thoroughly. They also have sushi/sashimi and fried chicken to be ordered and can be eaten at the dining area when you walk in.

So- I walked in about 5pm on a Wednesday for a quick item; chopped meat or hamburgers. Found an item, but no price. Asked three workers hanging out together behind the fish department chatting over an iPhone photo and asked for the price. They said that I needed to ask the "meat department guy" - who was nowhere to be found. Then they said, "take it up to the front desk" Up to the from desk I went to three more employees AND a manager standing chatting, laughing, fairly immersed in their socialization. Reported to the manager " no price on item" he replied ok, the desk worker will let me know. I responded if I "should write the price on if myself," he said "sure, go ahead." I think the thought I was serious. Item was too high price for me, so I took it back and exchanged it for another product and off I go. Okay an item wasn't priced - this sometimes happens and it can be fixed. But the service? How does one really fix that ? Service has slipped at Shop Rite. Gone are the days of employees actually looking to serve patrons with a smile and willing to go that extra length to accommodate. Public: get a job at Shop Rite. You can stand around, chat with coworkers, laugh at the lost customers AND get paid. As usual, it all comes down to management.

Just this Monday I went in and the meat counter was empty, the butcher dept in the back was closed and completely black, and the freezer section was empty. Every time the excuse is "we lost power", how does one place lose power this often. Shelves are empty of basic grocery items. The only thing that there is plenty of is the large expensive candy section. I bought a gallon of milk last week, expiration date was this week and yet when I got the milk home is was disgusting. The employees are constantly changing there. They are never happy or nice. The older guy in the meat dept is the most miserable person I have ever encountered in customer service. He acts as though it is the biggest inconvenience to wait on customers. Living in the area, I really wish some other store would move into this location.

I tried a couple of the other supermarkets and found the Walmarts in Manville far surpassed the others both in on time deliveries and filling the orders as placed. When you combine that with lower prices I think it's the clear winner. Also they don't charge for delivery. It's a win win for me.

Also, if you really are desperate for an employee's help, pick up the phone & start singing. An employee will come over & reprimand you, but at least you got their attention!
