I was craving patties and was introduced to this hidden gem by my Jamaican friend. This place does not disappoint. They sell regular sized patties as well as mini sized patties, they come in beef, curry chicken, or vegetables. I personally love the beef and the chicken so much that I come here at least once a week. They sell the patties fresh, or frozen(to take home) and they usually have a line out the door. I went this bakery this morning. I am not familiar with Jamaican baked goods but the store person in this shop kindly told me what was what. Very nice. I had patties and they tasted super good. We stopped by this location since the other location on the conduit is pretty good. The space is a little smaller, but they still have the basics (patties, soups, bulla cakes, etc.) Signature juices are also at the location. The soup had a seafood-like base, but was hearty with chicken, dumplings and yams. Strange but tasty. The patties are good, much closer to what you would have in Jamaica, less like the local chains that reign in the New York area. The employees move pretty quickly, so it's best you know what you want ahead of time if it's busy. read more

CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS FALLEN OFF. Went in this morning. No one at counter. Only one man was in shop bending down looking for a juice in fridge. I started to place my order and lady behind counter seemed a little annoyed but she started putting my order together. I asked about the "blue" cake and she explained in an annoyed way like I should have known what type of cake it was. I also asked about the guava pastry and she again answered very annoyed as if to say why am I asking so many questions. I took out my money to pay and all off a sudden, she starts to talk to the man in the store and taking his order. I was surprised and confused. Then both the man and lady reach pass me as if I was not standing there and I had to ask her if she would like me to step aside because obviously I was in the way. She said yes, he was here first. I was like no one was at the counter when I walked in and she DID NOT INDICATE to me that she was serving anyone. The fact that they both started to talk over me and conduct business as if I was not standing there was offensive. She NEEDS to learn etiquette and courtesy. 4 stars for the patties... that's pretty much what everyone should get.. we bought some beef as well as chicken patties. Both were delicious and quite different from one another. Beef patties were the typical Jamaican patties everyone is familiar with. Flakey outer pastry. Not too spicy, decent amount of meat. Better than the other places... the chicken patty is full of curry chicken, nicely seasoned. Perhaps just a bit too salty for me, but I guess that would go well with the coco bread which I've yet to try. Best patties I've had so far, but always packed inside. Not very spacious and it was really hot. Still the wait wasn't very long and everyone came for the patties as well. read more

They imposed a minimum of $10.00 purchase on debit cards which is UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICE. I've only ordered cocktail patties from here and they are delicious! You order them by the dozen for $7.80. They have chicken, beef, and vegetable. I've walked in to place the order and I've called but always in advance....never the same day. The cocktail patties can't be the only good thing here because when I went to pick up the first time, the line was out the door and then some. Luckily a staff member shouted out "Pickups?!" I didn't even hear her. Someone in the middle of the line (Bless his heart) shouted it to the back of the line and I couldn't be any happier. It was so packed inside that I could barely squeeze to the front. I finally made it, got my patties, and squeezed back on out. Now i never had an bad experience with this bakery in the past but, now let me tell you about their patties. The patties are horrible because if you're going to sell for the public, you have to put your love in it. (Patties are like pureed beef, and chicken) there is no taste of chewing beef or chicken...you use to get chunks of meat, no more. The coco bread use to be on the money..now they give you what they want (hard or slightly burnt) WHERE'S THE LOVE? Soup use to be slamming, now! they fill you up with either broth, dumpings or carrots, no meat (any kind of soup). Attitudes are horrible!!! This is the best beef patty I've ever had! They make them daily on premises along with HOMEMADE coco bread! Until you've had hot, fresh from the oven coco bread, you don't know better. I'm from Queens and I've been going here since I was in high school when my at the time girlfriend's mother owned a beauty saloon across the street. It's a small shop that also carries other Jamaican baked goods. My mother gets all of her birthday cakes from here as well. But my must haves are the spicy beef patty and coco bread and a banana bread. It brings back memories of my youth every time I take a bite. If you come on an occasion when the coco bread isn't ready yet, please wait for it! It's so worth it. Very small local Caribbean place. The staff doesn't have a great attitude and the lines are LONG! When you call the information you are given is never the same when you go in to the store. The staff don't coordinate with each other and get on the same page. The baked goods look pretty and are really good, the red velvet tastes very rich. They have good beef patties and ok bread. The parking situation is tough because it is in such a busy location. The crowd that Goes to this store is also mixed. Some people are really nice and others are rude and have bad attitudes which makes the visit very unpleasant. The staff is very dismissive and doesn't really care about what YOU need or want but rather just wants to get you in and out of the store. read more

There patty's are good. They have messed up orders for birthday cakes for several of us customers this past Saturday 4.16.16. I have always loved eating Patmar's beef patties and baked goods. They're flavorful, and you just want to keep come back for more. Their cocoa bread is also very tasty and fresh and affordable. I haven't been at Patmar's for a few weeks [I'm on a budget], so I decided to go there today, Monday April 20, 2015 and give myself a small treat. I ordered their spicy beef patty, but this patty tasted differently from all the very great patties that I've purchased there in the past. The ground beef in this patty had way too much gristle in it, making the eating of this patty very unpleasant. I was taking them out of my mouth since they were so rubbery & indigestible . Meat has 4 components: muscle,collagen,fat & elastin [ AKA gristle]. I kept on removing many pieces of gristle from my beef patty so I stopped eating it and decided to eat the 2nd one I bought,and that too had a lot of gristle in it too. I also found something black and sponge-like in the beef filling . I don't know if Patmar has changed the brand of patties they purchase. I originally thought that they made them on the premises, but one of the ladies who work there told me that they are purchased frozen and then baked on the premises. Maybe they order now from a different company or this was just a very bad batch, but the beef patties that I ate today are definitely not the 'Great Patties' that I've always been accustomed to always eating at Patmar. Today was the first day that I ever experienced this and I hope it will be the last. The man who I believe is the manager or owner is a very kind gentleman, and I hope that he will realize the inferior quality of today's patties and urgently correct the problem ASAP. If someone asked me to grade Patmar bakery, I'd normally would give it 5 stars, but if these are going to be the kind of beef patties that they'll be selling from now on, I'd have to pass. I'm hoping that it's only a temporary kind of thing. read more
