I visited Valbrook Diner with my plus one and I ordered the turkey & Swiss cheese omelette with home fries. The eggs were cooked nicely and the Swiss melted well, creating a good creamy texture, and the turkey added a hearty touch. The home fries came in generous portions, crisp on the outside with soft centers, it was okay, but very plain. The diner atmosphere felt comfortable and relaxed, which made the meal enjoyable. Service was decent and the kitchen delivered in a reasonable time. The price was fair for the portion size and what you get. However the overall, was a solid choice for classic diner. The question is will I go back? Yes! It's a dependable place for a comforting breakfast or early lunch. Enjoyable time!

Because I was directly across the street from this restaurant, why not dine in! As I walked in, there is soft music playing and I immediately felt the serene tone that's place is giving. I was immediately sat in a sectional part of the restaurant by the window which gave a pleasant view. I studied the menu and I saw the Valbrook salad. I started salivating. It had Garbanzo beans, egg, tomato, red pepper, cucumber, celery, and romaine lettuce topped off with my choice of grilled chicken and not to forget the croutons. I had to work on this salad as I delight myself in every bite. Since I'm in a diet I chose the house oil and vinegar instead of the vinegarette and it still had a bite to the dressing. The staff was very kind and service was prompt. I definitely recommend this Diner.

So it's a typical diner, nothing fancy but the food is good. I had a meat lovers omelette w/ ham & bacon it comes with a side of reg fries or home fries & toast. I also opted for a single waffle. Everyone else on the table ordered a western omelette. If you're in the mood for a fulfilling breakfast. That's affordable & around the way. I reccomend.

Last time this food tastes good was in 2021. Unfortunately, this diner just continues to plummet in food quality and rise in prices. This very bland bacon and egg and clearly microwaved sandwich cost $10 and that was the breakfast deal price. Ridiculous. Waiters aren't that friendly either. Shall never return.

Of course Long Island has lots of diners, but they are all unique, and I would say that based on my experience, Imperial is one of the best. I did not want your typical huge diner meal, which is much too much food, so I went with a nice dinner size Mediterranean Salad. The food was excellent - top quality fresh ingredients, put together beautifully and delicious. I was equally impressed by the service. When I travel to New York, I will often run into people who are not particularly friendly or helpful, including many who work at restaurants. This was not the case at all at Imperial. They were kind, and eager to give me a great experience. For a diner, it was not too noisy, and everything was very clean. Prices were very fair too. The only thing lacking .. and I saw this a lot in New York, was non-alcoholic beer. I cannot drink alcohol, and this is something I really enjoy with my meals. Imperial does have a variety of "Mocktails" .. so there are options for folks like me ..but it would be nice to see some beer options for the growing number of people who either cannot drink, or prefer to avoid alcohol. This is definitely a good choice if you are looking for a nice diner. Highly recommended.

The first encounter happened awhile ago. I told the waiter that I didn't want lumps in my grits at the time of ordering. He came back and I told him about the lump in the grits. He says there's only one and walked off. The problem with lumps is, I don't eat grits with lumps and I'm not going to pay for lumps going out to eat. Today 11/18 I ordered an egg white veggie omelette with turkey bacon. It was not clear to me that the bacon would be cut up inside the omelette. While I'm trying to ask about the bacon he walks off and then comes back. Takes an ink pin and points to the bacon less than inches away from the egg. I understand that the chef has to use their hands dealing with the food but for the waiter to bring the food and use a foreign object let alone his finger over my freaking food is totally unacceptable and won't be tolerated. I WAS LIVID and for him failing to comprehend that his actions weren't normal, is outrageous. He stood there trying to play it off by saying he did nothing wrong and he just pointed at the food trying to hid the ink pen and failing to take accountability provoking the situation. All he had to say was that it was cut up inside of the omelette. It seems like the last three times I came, I was being placed in this guys section. We've been there several times, and while not everything is amazing, the food is generally good and comforting. The star of the menu for me is the avocado toast - that's where they really get it right. The avocado toast is consistently fresh, well seasoned, and perfectly done every time. The pancakes are also very good: fluffy, tasty, and great for a weekend breakfast or brunch. One small thing that would make the experience even better is hot syrup. Warm syrup with those pancakes would take them to the next level. Service can be hit or miss depending on the day. On a previous visit, we had a server who dropped off the food and then basically disappeared until it was time for the check, which was disappointing. On our most recent visit, though, our server was the complete opposite: very attentive, friendly, and professional. It really made a difference in how much we enjoyed the meal. When we arrived this time, there was a line, but since there were only two of us and a table had just opened up, we were seated right away. That was a nice surprise and helped start the visit on a good note. All in all, Floral Park Diner is a nice local place, especially for breakfast or brunch. The food is good diner fare, some dishes shine more than others, and when the service is "on," it's a very pleasant experience. I'd recommend it if you're in the area and want a relaxed, neighborhood spot with great avocado toast and solid breakfast options.
