My friends & I had been really looking forward to eating here. We had seen & heard great things about the food & concept.
We had made a reservation (party of 3) for 6 pm. We arrived on time, and& were taken to a 4-top (table that can seat 4) to the very back of the restaurant, at the entry to the kitchen, cramped up against the serving station. I noted that this wasnt the best location & looking around noticed there were 4 other 4-tops available. I asked the hostness nicely if we could be moved to another table, perhaps the 4-top along the wall with the bench. She looked over & said they were going to be moving a couple of tables together there as there was a reservation for a larger party. I did not push her on the issue, although I think at most other restaurants the hostess would have then offered one of the other 3 remaining 4-tops. We sat down, it was cramped with servers constantly saying excuse me to squeeze by our table into & out of the kitchen.
One server came to the serving station to grab a water bottle to refill his tables' water. He split it by accident, drenching my husbands leather jacket, his shirt & the floor. The server, obviously embarrassed picked up the bottle & looked like he turned to bring over some napkins. My husband, went up to the hostess & stated at this point we were going to move to one of the 3 4-tops that were available. While I waited back at the table, no one arrived to dry the jacket or apologize. We moved to the new table on our own.
At our new location we were sitting next to a small table of 3. While eating their mains, we heard the man call over the waitress. She had cleared his half full glass of beer. He explained this & she said "Oh.well let me check at the bar, if its still there i'll bring it back to you". No sorry, no ill bring you a fresh one. When she came back, she said, they must have already emptied it, & walked away.
I am a lobster lover, eating it for years, all over the world. I saw Jerk Lobster on their menu. Excited, I ordered this.
All our food arrived, lobster arriving last. We all started to eat & all of my friends' food was great. My lobster had the shell still on & I was provided some tools. A pair of tongs the size of something you would use on the grill (not for getting seafood meat out of the shell) & a cracker. There was no lobster fork or fine utensils. The jerk sauce was thick & all over the shell. It was very hard to not use the cracker without everything slipping. All the sauce was on the shell. I finally managed to get a bit of meat out of the claws. The lobster tail was no where to be found. I tried to just pick up a piece and eat it, it had shell all around it. I called the server over, who sent over the manager, the same one I feel Riley T is talking about.
When the manager arrived, I explained that there is no lobster tail. He stated that they chop the lobster tail into 8 sections (once along the length of the tail and 3 times along the width). From that explanation, I would think there would be shell on 1 side & lobster on the inside. This was not the case, the lobster shell was circumferential. i asked him to feel, he stated he would not touch my food. I gave him permission as I wasn't going to eat it. He refused to touch it. I brought up that the tools were not adequate. He said yes we are trying to get the appropriate tools. But then also proceeded to say the lobster is fresh, we get it every day & this is how it is always prepared. So then why would they not have the appropriate tools to get the meat out. He kept arguing with me & stated this is how the chef always makes it.
I asked to speak with the chef. He came out - hands on his hips, leaning over our table. He seemed disinterested. I opened letting him know the rest of the food was good but that I was unable to get much lobster meat, if any, out of the rest of this lobster. The tools were not appropriate, the jerk marinade on the outside of the shell made it more difficult and really there was no meat that I could find, that wasnt full of shell. He only kept repeating that it was fresh daily. I stated I didn't want the lobster & he took it back to the kitchen. No one offered to remove the shell and bring it back. or bring me a new one (which i would have refused anyways at this point).
We finished the rest of our food & asked the server for the bill. About 10 minutes after that, the manager returned with my lobster on a plate. He had put the head back on the plate, something I had removed. He said this is yours! He refused to take it off the bill and said "you will pay for it". he threatened us and refused to acknowledge his staff's and his disregard for the water spill and table request issues. In fact during our meal, i noticed that a table of 4 was sat at the table by the bench I had requested, not a larger party (much like Riley T's comment from Sep 22). He was rude, un-accommodating and I would never recommend this restaurant to any one. read more
