We agreed on the price before any work was performed yet when the part was ordered the labor cost went up to double and the reason given to me was because the infinity dealer charge $600 to replace that part and it was not fair that I was only paying 120 as originally agreed; therefore the new price was $320. My Porsche needs brake pads replacement. Normally I would take it to a Porsche specialist, which is 25 miles away and will requires an advance two weeks appointment, drop it off on the day of the appointment and wait whole day to get the job done. Took my Nissan for CVT fluid change to Patrick's. First time ever visiting and Patrick was kind enough to squeeze me in before he and his crew took their lunch break. Was in and out in about an hour. Went to Jiffy Lube for an oil change and they said it was going to be $92 for my 2018 Mazda 3, I've never paid that much for an oil change even for this new car so I called Big Q and he said at most it would be 59.99 and that I would be in and out in less than 30. He was true to his word! I was out in probably less than 20 mins and he made sure I was comfortable the whole time and also let me know that when my 30,000 mile maintenance came up that he would match whatever the dealer quoted and reduce it by 20% if I was interested and no pressure at all. I currently drive a Chevrolet Volt which has an electric drive train as well as a small backup gas generator in case the battery runs out. With a fully charged battery you can go up to 40 miles without using a drop of gasoline. I took my volt here for an oil change as it has been almost three years since the last time the oil has been changed (oil life monitor states oil life is at 25%) but since it's been almost three years I thought it'd be best to take it in for an oil change. Due to the complexity of the drive trains I know a lot of mechanics wouldn't touch a volt for repairs so before coming in, I asked the owner through yelp if they've worked on Volts before. The owner replied with a solid yes and I booked an appointment. Everything ran smoothly until the end when it came time to pay and I joked around with whom I think was Patrick about how the last time I got an oil change was nearly 30,000 miles ago (current mileage is 82,700 and last oil change was at 55,000) and he looked at me with straight disgust in his eyes replying back that I should get my oil changed every 5,000 to 8,000 miles. Which is true as I get my civic hatchback oil changed at around every 5,000 miles or whenever the oil life monitor hits 20%. I replied to him telling him that my car is a plug in hybrid so I rarely have to use the gas engine and can go 40 miles on a single charge without using gas. He replied stating that even the Prius has to get an oil change every 5,000 to 8,000 miles. I didn't say anything after but the Prius is a hybrid and HAS to use gasoline??? that's why it has to get changed like a regular ICE, only the Prius Prime is a plug in hybrid and those are relatively new and rare. The service was okay but I wished he didn't lie to me stating he's worked on Volts before because how do you miss the most crucial part of the Volt??? The whole selling point of the car is the fact that you can go weeks, months, maybe even a year without using gasoline. Hence my almost 30,000 miles before an oil change as I average around 175 miles per gallon and in those 30,000 miles only about 5,000 miles were powered by the gasoline engine. I only went here to avoid the hassle and overpriced service of the dealerships. 7/10 I would go somewhere else next time I need something done and at worst I end up going to the dealership. Oh and for those concerned that I waited too long for an oil change, the manual recommends around every 2 or so years depending on driving habits. Update: I've talked to the owner and realized that this was a huge misunderstanding. The manual he was using to base the maintenance on the volt is a little misleading and depends on how the driver utilizes the car. I poorly judged his reply and deduced that he had no prior knowledge of the car. I appreciate how he handled the situation and how he took the time to reply in a timely manner. The five stars he has for his business is well deserved. 10/10 customer service read more
