In town for business....staying at a hotel right down the road. I was really looking for a good steak and a couple cocktails. I arrived at 5pm. 2 people at the bar and nobody sitting at tables. I was immediately greeted by the host whom was very friendly. I told him I wanted to get dinner and drinks and sit at the bar (I was by myself). The host told me I could sit at 1 particular bar seat. Had two bad experiences there. No more! The first time was for a wine pairing that we paid for. They, apparently forgot we were there and what we paid for. The second time, my wife received an email for a Surf & Turf special. We sat down, immediately ordered our appetizer, wine, salads and the surf & turf. We ate our appetizers and salads. After an hour, while we were drinking our wine, the waitress walked up an notified us that they were out of surf & turf. She said we could look at the menu again. They offered us a larger steak and lobster meal at a higher price. We declined. Two bad experiences. There will never be a third. read more

On a recent trip to Michigan, we stopped for dinner at Patrick's Grill, located in Michigan City, Indiana. Upon entering the restaurant were greeted right away and shown to a table. It was a Thursday night,an hour before closing. The interior of the restaurant is lovely, clean and relatively quiet. Roberta was our server. We ordered a bottle of wine, they were out of the first wine, so we had to pick a second one. The wedge salad and the caprese salad were our first course. The caprese was not the typical preparation, it had pesto on top of the tomatoes, deconstructed, served on a bed of mixed greens. Both salads were served chilled. Wonderful.A lukewarm salad is a pet peeve of mine. The wedge salad could be a meal itself. Both were very generous portions. My husband ordered the spinach and mushroom cavatappi with chicken and I ordered the pesto tortellini with added chicken. Both dishes arrived hot to our table. Perfect. Overall we had a very enjoyable experience. An added bonus is a 20% discount on the food portion of your bill if you are staying at a local hotel. A note: train staff to refill wine glasses. Don't start "closing down" while diners are still eating. That makes us feel like we need to rush to finish our meal. read more

We had an excellent dinner last night at Patrick's. The staff were very friendly, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious. The first thing we did was order a martini and lemon burst cocktail. Both were perfectly chilled and delicious. We also had a flight of beers from their excellent craft beer selection. For starters, we had the flaming cheese (saganaki). This was as good as any we'd ever had! Gooey cheese in a crispy fried crust with fresh lemon squeezed on top. Next we shared a wedge salad, which was a good size, plenty for two to share, and quite fresh. We each also had the lobster bisque, which was fantastic! For dinner, we had the shrimp scampi pasta and the special for the night which was a parmesan pesto orange roughie. Our entrees were expertly prepared and the sides were tasty too ... including risotto and asparagus. For dessert, we took a slice of chocolate cake back to our hotel for later. It too was delicious. You can't go wrong here! We also enjoyed the 21+ age restriction and the chill vibe of the place. With helpful staff, calm blue walls, and skylines of various US cities on the walls, we felt at ease and right at home. Hats off to the staff and the owners. They clearly put a lot of thought into the experience and it is obvious that they all take personal responsibility for insuring a great experience for every customer. read more

Food and service were on point! We started off with saganaki and calamari. Delicious! My husband had the NY strip and I had the ribeye. My husband added this garlic mash on his steak that I'm sad I didn't order for mine it was the bomb! He shared a little with me it was so delicious! My family and I absolutely love this place. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, and they treat you like family as soon as you walk in. Every time we've dined with them, the manager makes sure to come to each table to check on everyone. I would highly recommend their beer lovers soup (French onion)! Arrived at 7:00. It's a Thursday night and their parking lot was full. We were worried we would not get seated. We did get seated right away. Very modern decor with a Chicago feel. There are booths and tables in a large room with a bar along one section of the wall. This was not what we expected for a "Grill". We were in jeans and my husband got the "once over" from maître d'. He had jeans and a T-shirt from a Michigan marina town. The wait staff was pleasant and was quick to offer extra vegetables when I declined the carbs. We did not order mixed drinks. Most of the guests from our view had mixed drinks. The room was filled with chatter and laughter. People were enjoying themselves. We had their bruschetta. It arrived nicely displayed with four slices of a French type bread with the bruschetta on top. The bread was crunchy but not hard. It was not soggy like others. The onion was slightly strong which almost overpowered the tomato and cheese mixture. I would order it again though. I was kind of surprised that the salad had more iceberg lettuce then greens. I expected to receive a salad with all greens from price of the meal. The cucumbers were not pealed. Big pet peeve of mine. I had the scallops and my husband had he beef tips. The scallops were very good. I really enjoyed them. They were seared and very tasty. I would have liked the sauce that was served with the scallops a little more thicker. I would definitely order these again. We eat out 5 - 6 times a week. However, because of the limited menu it may be only once every 2 months. As we ate a mud pie dessert, a gentleman who appeared to be the owner stopped a visited several tables. He passed us by. There was also an interesting person who looked inebriated and was visiting tables. Could this be an "up scale" Cheers? We were treated very nicely by our wait staff. But overall this was not a comfortable dining experience. Maybe next time we will come in our BMW directly from the office. I took my wife out to dinner here the Friday before Valentine's Day. Amazing dinner atmosphere and quite, lighting is great! We had a wonderful server who was prompt and quick to every question or request we had. We started it off with flaming saganaki! Was amazing because they serve a bread and mixing them is amazing. My dinner was ok, not nothing I would ever order again. The service was good. As many times we have come here, this is the first time we've been disappointed. But we both ordered differently, we should've ordered our old reliables. But she heard the Maui special and I wasn't in the mood for a steak. Our party of five selected this establishment as a stopping point on our way to a concert. We made reservations and we were a bit concerned about getting seated and served in a timely fashion. We arrived early and to our surprise we were seated right away. Our server was prompt and very attentive to us. I enjoyed the modern decor and the cleanliness of the dining room. The restroom was well appointed and clean. To top it all off the food was delicious, well prepared and presentation was very nice. The cost was actually less than one would expect from the upscale atmosphere. I reserved a five star review based solely on the lighting of the parking lot. I didn't see a lot of dedicated lighting as most of the lighting where we parked was courtesy of a overhead billboard sign. I wouldn't keep this from a return visit though. Visited around 6:00 on a Wednesday. Though multiple tables were available, we had a 10-15 minute wait. After being seated we promptly ordered as we could see other patrons without food who looked to be anxiously awaiting its arrival. After a long wait, we received our appetizer one minute before our meal was served. The waitress was apologetic, but offered no resolution. The food was great. I ordered grilled. When the meal came, i noticed mine was the same as his, his was obviously grilled too. Unfortunately, he already had started eating it. We asked the server, and the manager overheard. I believe she put the order in correctly, the kitchen made a mistake. The manager took the perch (um, he could have given it to me, but whatever) and the kitchen made his fried. The bill came, no compensation. I try not to have entitlement issues, and feel like i should be over-catered to... But come on, really?! He was sick to his stomach the day after because eating it. We accidentally stumbled into this place and loved it. We were treated extremely well. The GM came over after our meal to make sure we were happy. We were there on Friday night and both got the seafood special. This night it was a lobster tail...three sea scallops and a crab cake...asparagus and rice pilaf on the side. All was great. My dad has wanted to try this place since it opened, and what better of an opportunity to try it that on my brother's graduation. The food was absolutely fantastic. We ordered oyster shooters (gross to me- I just don't think I'll ever enjoy the texture / idea of oysters and I've tried them many times), saganaki, and calamari. I did not try the saganaki but heard it was amazing. The calamari was great, too. The breading was nice and crunchy and different compared to the usual breading I experience with calamari. You can tell the cocktail sauce was not from a jar- it was chunkier than the finely blended sauce that comes out of a jar. I got the beer onion soup, aka french onion soup, which was delicious. My dad's salad looked nice and fresh, too. He had a house made blue cheese dressing on it. We were served fresh baguettes and butter. My dinner was amazing- I ordered the 12 ounce New York Strip which was cooked perfectly to order and served with what seemed like a brown butter sauce on top. My baked potato was delicious and my asparagus was cooked perfect (and I got a decent amount of asparagus). My mom got the pasta with the shrimp, mushrooms, and farfalle pasta which she thoroughly enjoyed, dad got the scallops, my brother got a steak, and his girlfriend got a fish sandwich with sweet potato tater tots. There was not one complaint about the food. The service, however, was slower than I would have liked. We were there for an hour and a half. It took a long time for us to get our alcoholic drinks. Our appetizers came quickly, but our entrees took longer. There was a very long lull between us finishing our meals and getting the bill. The decor was absolutely beautiful- colorful, and chic. After being a customer of Rodini's, I was anxious to try out the new ownership. Wow! The interior has experienced a complete change with windows and a calm blue paint. I enjoyed the chairs and the usually larger 4 top tables. The room was not crowded, but allowed nice size spacing between tables. As to the food, we stopped by on a Sunday and had their Laid Back Sunday menu. My over 21 granddaughter and I started with the pepper bacon wrapped shrimp. Yummy. She then had the porkchops with apricot sauce and I had the BBQ 3 meat (beef, pork, veal) loaf with homemade mac and cheese along with baked beans. We finished off the meal with pumpkin cheese cake that had slivers of cream cheese showing. Dessert also came with a shot of pumpkin liquor. The owner Patrick made it a point to visit each table and to speak with all of his patrons. Came here with my fiancé last night for a date night. I was very excited for this restaurant to open and had been looking forward to trying it because my family had such deep roots with Rodinis. The experience was bad from the get go. Very slow service, cold food, even the salad was bad. Wet lettuce means that the dressing won't stick, guys! Overall, I was EXTREMELY disappointed. For the prices on the menu and the attire of people dining here, it should have been a great experience. Instead I am left disappointed and will definitely never return. read more

Went to Patrick's last night for dinner with some friends and this is the first time since it became Patrick's that we have been there. We were pleasantly surprised. The hostess seated us promptly, our waitress was very delightful and was very helpful with the menu and the manager came to our table to make sure we were satisfied with our dinner. Three of us had the Prime Rib (Saturday night special) and it was done to perfection. One person in our party had the ribs and perch combo and was very happy with the taste and presentation.
