NYE special. Steak and lobster tail

Patrick's is a Diamond in the rough. A classy restaurant with outstanding food. Very cozy and elegant restaurant. Just celebrated NYE there and the presentation of the food was amazing. Gift for each couple- champagne toast for the new year and a return visit surprise. Our server Aaron was beyond wonderful. This place needs to be checked out by every single person who passes it

An insight for fellow yelpers. I was reminded of this tonight, as reviewers, we need to keep in mind the people that regularly visit each restaurant . On a recent trip to Michigan, we stopped for dinner at Patrick's Grill, located in Michigan City, Indiana. Upon entering the restaurant were greeted right away and shown to a table. It was a Thursday night,an hour before closing. The interior of the restaurant is lovely, clean and relatively quiet. Roberta was our server. We ordered a bottle of wine, they were out of the first wine, so we had to pick a second one. The wedge salad and the caprese salad were our first course. The caprese was not the typical preparation, it had pesto on top of the tomatoes, deconstructed, served on a bed of mixed greens. Both salads were served chilled. Wonderful.A lukewarm salad is a pet peeve of mine. The wedge salad could be a meal itself. Both were very generous portions. My husband ordered the spinach and mushroom cavatappi with chicken and I ordered the pesto tortellini with added chicken. Both dishes arrived hot to our table. Perfect. Overall we had a very enjoyable experience. An added bonus is a 20% discount on the food portion of your bill if you are staying at a local hotel. A note: train staff to refill wine glasses. Don't start "closing down" while diners are still eating. That makes us feel like we need to rush to finish our meal.

Lemon burst drink ... tasted like lemon meringue pie.

We had an excellent dinner last night at Patrick's. The staff were very friendly, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious. The first thing we did was order a martini and lemon burst cocktail. Both were perfectly chilled and delicious. We also had a flight of beers from their excellent craft beer selection. For starters, we had the flaming cheese (saganaki). This was as good as any we'd ever had! Gooey cheese in a crispy fried crust with fresh lemon squeezed on top. Next we shared a wedge salad, which was a good size, plenty for two to share, and quite fresh. We each also had the lobster bisque, which was fantastic! For dinner, we had the shrimp scampi pasta and the special for the night which was a parmesan pesto orange roughie. Our entrees were expertly prepared and the sides were tasty too ... including risotto and asparagus. For dessert, we took a slice of chocolate cake back to our hotel for later. It too was delicious. You can't go wrong here! We also enjoyed the 21+ age restriction and the chill vibe of the place. With helpful staff, calm blue walls, and skylines of various US cities on the walls, we felt at ease and right at home. Hats off to the staff and the owners. They clearly put a lot of thought into the experience and it is obvious that they all take personal responsibility for insuring a great experience for every customer.

We ordered the Elote Pizza, and overall it was really good. It had a nice wood-fired crust that was probably the highlight of the meal. The only downside was that it came with a garlic aioli that was very heavy...there was so much on the pizza that it overpowered some of the other flavors. I think it would have been even better with a lighter hand. For drinks, I had one of their sour beers and my husband ordered an IPA. Both were good, but neither really stood out as anything particularly memorable. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was friendly and took good care of us. The layout of the brewery was a little unexpected. We walked into the main entrance, then the host brought us back outside and over to a separate building where the bar is located. It was a little confusing at first, but it ended up being a neat setup. The restaurant was clean, with a spacious dining room and a nice-looking patio. The only thing that kept this from being a higher rating was the value. It felt a little expensive for what we ordered, and while everything was solid, nothing really wowed us. Overall, I'm glad we stopped in, especially as a place to escape the heat for a while. If you're in the area and looking for a casual meal and a local beer, it's worth checking out...I just wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to visit again.

November 6, 2024, approximately 2:41 P.M…read more I can understand why so many restaurants are going out of business if customer service is anything like I experienced at the "Boathouse Grill" in Michigan City, IN yesterday. My two granddaughter's and I stopped there for a sandwich after shopping at the Lighthouse Mall. To say the woman that took our orders was unfriendly, is an understatement. She was an older woman with short hair. My granddaughter ordered a Patty Melt on white bread, this woman's response was "we don't have white bread." My granddaughter asked for a substitution because she doesn't like rye bread. Answer: "that's all we have." Did not offer to put it on a hamburger bun, which is white bread. I ordered a salad. I was told "no salad's today." I then ordered a fish sandwich and a cheeseburger, with two sides of mayonnaise, one for fish and one for cheeseburger. The woman who was cooking brought one side of mayonnaise. When I told her I needed another, her response "I already gave you one." The food was okay, service TERRIBLE. I would never go back. I'm in the restaurant business and would never treat customers the way we were treated yesterday. And to add insult to injury, I was charged .50 for a cup of water. This is the worse $27.90 (my check) that I will never see again! Thelma J. Garcia tgarcia701@comcast.net

Bottom Line: Fun, waterside, marina atmosphere with decent food. Worth a stop…read more I picked this place out from my map function because it looked interesting, on the water, and near an historic, old railroad bridge (Trail Creek Swing Bridge). It is my first time here, and for a late afternoon linner. The place did not disappoint--for the most part. It is open air with a beachy, boaty, picnic tables-under-umbrellas vibe. It overlooks the water, a marina, and the name inspiring railroad swing bridge which makes for an interesting visual environment. Thankfully there is no attempt to force an out of place theme, sparing us from steel drum background music. Interestingly though, the only nod to the railroad structure inspired name was an old school railroad crossing sign at the entry otherwise everything else is boat marina feel. Our server was friendly and efficient. My hefty burger was thick and juicy. The coleslaw was fresh. The disappointment was the fries. They were more like shoestring fries and came dried out/overcooked. The sweet potatoes fries were a better bet. The lackluster fries were not enough though to lose a star. Overall the experience was a satisfying one and at a reasonable price. I would definitely come back especially as a very nice alternative to the other railroad name inspired brewery restaurant in town.
