Fiddlehead is a fine American restaurant with a wide selection of drinks. The inside is welcoming and charming with a plant theme and a faux tin ceiling. While the dining is certainly respectable, the presentation is more casual, and you will be comfortable in any attire. The servers are on point and upbeat. I enjoyed the bourbon-glazed pork chop, and it was spectacular. The bourbon flavor really popped with an also sweet marinade. The potatoes and green beans rounded out the meal and kept my fitness goals on track. We hope to be back next year! read more

What a nice surprise! We were on our way to Chicago and found this place not very far from the train station. Not familiar with this town at all and it didn't look like there was much in the area. But they have a gem of a restaurant here. I had the quesadillas and my wife had a shrimp salad. We also ordered the fry basket and they have different sauces you can get with it. Everything was really good. It was kinda tough to pick my meal because they had a lot of interesting choices on the menu. And the service was great! Very attentive and genuine. This is a nice place. If we're ever taking the train to Chicago again and need to grab a quick meal, we're coming here. read more

We came in blindly without even looking at the menu and were pleasantly surprised from the start. The restaurant had a cozy feel with cute holiday décor, and although we waited a bit to be seated, the service was worth it--everything arrived exactly as we ordered. The food was delicious across the board, and the biggest surprise was the German pretzel. We were not expecting it to be that huge, and it ended up being one of the highlights. Prices are definitely on the higher side, but for a once-in-a-while dinner, it felt justified. The quality really matched what we paid for. We tried the filet, lobster ravioli, Caesar salad, German pretzel, stuffed mushrooms, and the Diablo pasta, and everything was well-prepared and full of flavor. I really like this place. They have great food, wonderful customer service, it' clean. Just an all-around good place to go.

First of all, I love flowers. As my child and I walked up to the restaurant the beautiful outdoor area in the front took my breath away. Once inside we were greeted by a friendly host who quickly seated us. Our server quickly fought us water and took our drink order. After our food order was taken it seemed to not take very long for it to arrive. My meal was delicious. I ordered the baked half chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. I ate everything off of my plate. My child order the child's fettuccine alfredo and it too was so tasty. We were glad to have discovered this gem of a place. I highly recommend! read more

Amazing food! We had Fiddlehead cater an event and the food was incredible! I personally had the Sausage and Peppers, along with the Chicken Carbonara Pasta, and The Fiddlehead Salad. OMG! So delicious! There was also Chicken Alfredo, Bourbon Glazed Pork Chops, Mostacholi, and Mediterranean and Caprese Salads. The bread was delicious and so was the Peach Cobbler dessert! This is a local favorite. Super wonderful staff and bartenders. The martini list is fantastic- good seasonal drinks. Oh- and how can I forget the food! So many options. They clearly list vegetarian and gluten free options of which there are plenty so its good to go to with a bunch of food-specific friends. They are a detail oriented place- drinks and plates are paid attention to - everything looks especially appetizing. Keep in mind- they do not accept reservations. We had dinner here while on vacation. The servers were incredibly friendly. They had the biggest hot pretzel we have ever seen. The green beans were the best I've ever had! I never get very excited about vegetables but I wished I had just a plate of them. The chicken was also very good. We loved it so much we went back a second night. Very cute place in Michigan City with a pretty varied menu including some vegetarian options as well. The chicken carbonara was a little salty but very good. The shrimp tacos were fantastic! Perfectly cooked shrimp with a spicy sauce covered in coleslaw with tomatoes. The Fiddlehead salad looked delicious as well with lots of toppings. The salads are large enough to share, so come hungry and bring friends! They also have a great selection of house cocktails that are creative and well crafted. For a place with such good press the food was surprisingly bad. My wife's lobster roll had too much mayo, and the mayo was also too strongly flavored, so the lobster was lost. That does happen to bad lobster rolls, but I was even more surprised by what had happened to my lamb skewers. They were covered with an unpleasant, over salted glop; but where I could taste the ground lamb patty underneath, it didn't taste good.
