They were the ONLY provider we had ever used since we bought our house in 2016. They would not give us a contract. They wait until you run out, need a prime then when the driver leaves & it shuts off 2 minutes later after HE TOLD YOU SOMETIMES IT NEEDS TO BE DONE TWICE & he was going to wait for a minute. Then when I call for help just minutes after he leaves, now it's a $200 service call for him to turn around & come back for 2 minutes to re-prime. I've told them multiple times the float that shows you how much oil we have is stuck & the tank had a wall built around it by the previous owner, meaning I have to guess when we will need oil. You think they would give us a contract after years of using their service exclusively. The lady on the phone is always RUDE. They let us wait over 24 hours with no heat & hot water with babies in the house. Thank god for space heaters and a wonderful friend that work for the competitor but will come re-prime the job I paid them for! I'm not paying anyone to treat me like crap! I paid for oil & a prime & got less than 5 minutes of heat. Thanks Patriot! You're lucky I can't give you NO STARS for years of garbage customer service. read more

Working with patriot oil was a complete nightmare and a waste of money. I have contacted my lawyer and will be contacting the better business bureau monday. I called them three days ago to fix my second floor tenants burner. They had no heat or hot water and the furnace was smoking and puttering. They sent out a tech who was here for 2 hours. He switched out a number of things including the pump, electrodes, and nozzle. The damage was $385. The furnace stopped working again a couple days later and showed the same issues, puttering, smoking, and wouldn't stay on. So, the problem wasn't resolved. I called them again to have the SAME issue resolved. They sent a different guy. This guy admitted the first tech had done unnecessary work and the work he did do wasn't done correctly. As in when he changed the pump out he didn't flush the lines or change the filter. So the second guy did just that. After doing those things he packed up to leave but low and behold, the furnace shut off and wasn't working again. The tech then decided it was the pump coupler causing the problem. He replaced the coupler and after doing the work the furnace was making a loud clanking noise which it hadn't been making previously. He then said I would need a new motor, but said to change that when I got it cleaned next. He packed up and left after charging me a reduced $175. After he left, I realized I could hear this loud clanking noise throughout my whole house upstairs. It was awful. He also had to leave 2 times to get parts because he grabbed the wrong ones. Fast forward to about 6 hours later and the furnace isn't workin AGAIN. So, I call them to come out for a third time. At this point it is about 8:30 pm and after hours. Their answering machine says to leave a message and they will call back "promptly' So, after 4 phone calls and messages, they finally called me back around 11, 2 1/2 hours later.. They said the tech would be here within 30 min. About 50 min later the tech showed up and was beyond miserable. It was the same guy that had been here earlier in the day. When he arrived I say "welcome back" and he doesn't even respond. Stomps passed me and into the basement. If he had done his job the correct way the first or second time then they wouldn't have had to come back. After he was down there for a few min he comes to get us and said that we now need a new relay which would cost us $1,000 plus $150 for coming out. Excuse me?? You want to charge me for coming back out when you didn't fix the problem the first 2 times I paid?? And that other $600 I spent on the previous problems were apparently a huge waste of money if they weren't the cause if the issues to begin with. My boyfriend kindly asked why they fixed all the other things if they weren't the problem and the guy got very defensive and began getting short and mad with my bf. I then butted in as I am not as calm as my bf is and I was pissed they were taking advantage of us. I tried asking questions with the receipts in front of me and he kept interrupting me and would not let me speak. He again admitted the first visit should have been done differently. So, twice I was told I wasted my money on wrong/poor work. We had a heated debate which ended up with him storming off slamming my door, and leaving us with a broken furnace yet again. So, now the second floor with their baby has no heat still. I have to pay another company to come out and fix what they have broken and I still had to pay them $600 for unnecessary work. Conclusion here is they either don't know what they are doing and are playing a guessing game which the customer will have to pay for or they are purposely stealing money from people. Either way this is unacceptable. Avoid them! read more

I have been a customer of this Oil company for around 10 years give or take. Lately, I have seen a lack of good service from this organization. I recently had a service tech come out to look at a discoloration of the outside of the Oil furnace which also had paint peeling. He indicated when he opened up a cover to the furnace that a insulating "blanket" as he called it was missing. He claimed this is what caused the outside wall to heat up and result in paint peeling etc. He did not have the part with him but stated he would be able to come back in a couple of days to install it. I asked him how much and he stated no charge since it was a small part and it would take 15 minutes and I was already charged the service call of $125. Then I was told that for a tech to come back to insert that part I would have to pay for another service call ($125). Now, the only Oil company that has come out to clean or repair my furnace was them. Most, if not all Oil companies will only service existing customers. They had done the burner cleaning the last time it was done which is probably when one of their techs did not put the "blanket back" after completion. They told me they have no proof that their tech did not put it back since that employee is no longer with the company and could not ask him. They had the record of the cleaning. So, I am not a Oil service tech and would not know how to open up and remove ( or why would I remove) this insulation. So they had to charge me again. Reluctantly I paid, but this is another situation where service providers are taking advantage of homeowners and not taking responsibility for their employees mistakes. There was no way I would have known that this insulating blanket was missing after the cleaning. I would highly advise against using this company for your Oil Service. 1 read more

We were experiencing an oil smell in our living room, so we called Patriot Oil and their technician named Dave came to our home. First of all he walks in, no hello or introduction or telling me his name. He went downstairs to work on our furnace and all of a sudden I heard what sounded like an explosion in our basement. I ran down to see what was wrong and he was just sitting there and told me it was something with the ignition, but he didn't bother to come up and tell me himself that everything was OK. As well, when I asked him a question about some thing being clogged, he responded in a very condescending manner saying "I would've told you if that had been a problem"! We paid $330 and the smell in our living room was still very strong. My husband had a colleague come out and look at our furnace and he had to fix a few items. my husband then called and spoke to the owner and told him our concerns, and that we would like to have someone different come out the next day to look at the furnace again. They sent the same technician out, which made me very unhappy, and he all of a sudden checked other things that he had not checked before! He admitted that he did not check some doors that were on inappropriately and added to the problem. In the end, my husband asked him why he didn't check these things in the first place and told him he needed to apologize to me. He then proceeded to tell my husband to F off and left our home. We will never use patriot oil again and we would encourage those who already use them or who are seeking assistance with their oil and heating needs to go somewhere else! read more

Good for oil delivery but when it comes to service they are less than competent. Needed a new oil Tank of which Patriot gave us 2 referrals to. One of which we made an appointment for to come out to look at the job however the guy never showed up to look at the job. The other company he gave us came out and installed the new tank however after the tank was installed the hot water heater in Central heating furnace stopped working. We called Patriot Oil to come out to look to determine what the problem was and they said it was air in the lines and proceeded to drain the line and install a new filter. $259 for the service. A week later the hot water heater stopped working again and Patriot was called again to look at the problem which was the same problem with air in the lines of which they drained to get the hot water heater to fire and was given a bill for an additional 100+ dollars. I called to complain that the initial repair was never completed due to a recurring issue and that I should not be charged for the additional repair that should have been done on the 1st visit. He explained why this was happening and stated that 2 oil feed lines should have been installed by the oil tank company that installed the tank. I told him that should have been explained at the 1st vist so I wouldn't get a double or triple charge like he was trying to get. I even called the company that installed a tank on their refural and they said that they don't do repairs just installs. Bad on both ends and Patriot was the cause of all. Do not recommend this company...After a legenthy conversation with the owner he dropped the 2nd charge and refused to deliver oil in the future. read more

For years I was using Petro for my oil deliveries and service. I wish I had realized earlier what a ripoff they are. I've recently cancelled that contract and switched to Patriot Oil and find them to be excellent. I've called a few times to deliver oil and the prices are half what I was paying under Petro. They will take credit card for delivery for a $5 fee; totally worth it to not have to be at the house to pay by check. Had my first cleaning today and the tech arrived right in time and was professional and competent. $150 for the cleaning. I'm totally satisfied with their service. read more

Our furnace stopped working and we discovered it at noon on a Monday. After some calling around to friends, we called our oil company, Patriot Oil. They sent out a tech to diagnose it that night and by the time I returned home on Tuesday, it was fixed. The owner, the office manager and the technicians are caring, professional and respectful. Brain lacking business knowledge Dave that you lose a long standing customer who has multiple upcoming rentals with oil heat and has recommended you to others for oil. You are not the only cheese on the board. You know that right? - for a measly few bucks in interest that you refused to credit. As a business owner, this is not about the few dollars, rather it's about customer service. We have been in business for three decades and our wise business sense clearly directs us in the path of accommodating our long term customers simple few dollar interest request for credit. WE AND NO ONE WHO HAS ANY REAL BUSINESS SENSE WOULD REFUSE TO CREDIT A FEW BUCKS IN INTEREST FOR LONG STANDING CUSTOMERS. Your woman who answers the phone wants to know does a bank credit late fees on a mortgage payment. OF COURSE NOT; BUT YOU ARE NOT A BANK YOU'RE A SMALL LOCAL BUSINESS. Used patriot to fill tank once and it was a pretty standard service. Today, we called and scheduled an emergency delivery because our tank meter is broken. While the dispatch person was nice and assured me that we would have oil in a few hours (that was 8am), it is now 8pm and we have not heard from or seen anyone from the company. We are freezing in our home with pets and a toddler and we're told that we needed to be at the house when driver arrived. This is not acceptable to me, even in an emergency situation. The company charges $100 for emergency delivery, which would be understandable and acceptable if the delivery was made in a reasonable amount of time. read more

Driver was rude, blocked the road and I was unable to get by, he wasn't even pumping yet and the hose wasn't even out yet, I was told that it was not my problem . Rude very Rude! I had my child in the car too! read more

I use Patriot Oil Company for years now and have always been completely satisfied. The office staff are always pleasent and helpful, including Louie the office dog! When I have needed a service call everything has been easy. Recently I had 2 issues which required a service call. I was extremely nervous. I know nothing about heating systems (other than that repairs can be expensive) and the fact that it was winter, as well as days before Christmas.... Well rest to say, I was on edge. Upon placing the call, I was told that a tech would come out but being a Saturday the price is $150.00 per hour plus parts. I was relieved when just a couple of hours later, up pulled the Patriots van.Charlie, the tech who has been here numerous times doing the yearly furnace cleaning, along with someone new to me, Paul. Charlie is wonderful, always very professional with a quiet yet friendly nature, that even my Chihuahua and Cockatoo respond to. Within a minute Charlie had diagnosed the first issue and they had it fixed! Upon seeing the second problem, both men were quick to put me at ease. They took care of the issue then gave me the info I would need going forward. The whole matter was over quickly, and I only paid the $150.00 service call. I HIGHLY recommend this company. We have been using Patriot Oil for about a year now. With the holidays we lost track of how much oil we had left in the tank and realized today that we were nearly out. Patriot Oil was able to get a truck out to give us a delivery within a couple hours of us calling. Also the staff member that we dealt with on the phone was extremely pleasant and accommodating.
