I requested a quote for custom shades for my patio on August 2 2022. Don came out and took the measurements so they would precisely fit when they were installed. In Octorber 2022, the owner DJ installed what was custom ordered. The order turned out to be wrong. The measurements were off by at least 3ft! He told me they would order another one and have them to us within a few weeks. It is now March 16th, 2023, and I still have not received my shade. I have called every single month and have gotten the runaround, excuses one after another, and yet I'm still here a year later with no replacement. I called again, but there no answer, and when somebody did call me back, there's another excuse of why they were backlogged. I even requested my money back, and yet I still have not heard anything. Installed shades a year ago and nothing but problems. They have come back months later at a time to touch up things and my main shade still doesn't operate correctly. It is now separating from the wall which I sent photos to DJ, the owner only to get no response and now it almost falling off and inoperable! I HAVE SENT MANY EMAILS AND left many PHONE CALLS ONLY TO BE DELAYED WITH EXCUSES AND DELAYS BLAMING SOMETHING ELSE and not them. I thought these were good people only to realize they are not what they display to be. I have used multiple contractors on my home in Scottsdale and these are, by far, the worst. We had an exceptional experience with Patriot Sun Control and would highly recommend them! We received a violation from our HOA for missing 1 sun screen on a front facing window. After calling several different companies, Patriot Sun Control was the first to return our call (while some others never did). At the time, we were only interested purchasing 1 sun screen, in which many companies refused the business because of only needing one. After speaking with Lisa, whom was friendly, pleasant, professional and knowledgeable (I even made a friend that day), she scheduled for DJ to come measure. DJ showed up on time as promised and he was also friendly, professional and certainly knows the business. While he was here, I had him measure for multiple windows in the back of my home which were also missing sun shades, to obtain an estimate for the future. The estimates we obtained were such a fair price that we decided to hire them to do all the work. That's where these other companies who refused or never called back, made their mistake and lost business. We were given an estimate of when we could expect installation, and DJ was upfront and honest that they were about 3 weeks out. With it being a busy time of year for needing sun screens, I understood and appreciated his honestly so we scheduled installation. The install happened when promised also and DJ and his installer Zach worked efficiently, quickly and did a stellar job! The next day I felt an immediate and welcomed cooler temperature change in my home. Never having new sun screens before, it made us realize the shades on our upstairs master balcony were worn which explains why that room is so hot and also bright in the morning and afternoon (it faces West). I called Patriot Sun Control back to get an estimate to replace the slider door and flat panel. Once again, they showed up when promised, were friendly, professional and provided such a reasonable estimate that I hired them again today for the master slider door. I cannot rave enough about this company! I feel so grateful to have found them and that they were so willing to work with me for my multiple situations! We are so happy with our new sun screens (they do other various screens/shades/enclosures as well) and we would highly recommend them and would hire them again in a second, should we need any future shading needs. Love the work PSC has done for us. Found them thru Yelp and Facebook as we needed sunscreens on our back windows. We were told by a turf company that the reflections on the windows would act as a magnifying glass and burn the turf. Don Sr was the one who came out to do our estimates and was very helpful in answering all my questions. He called to let us know when he was on his way and came on time. He recommended we ask the turf company about the 2nd story windows in case they needed to be covered as well since we only planned on getting screens for our 1st floor window and sliding door. He was able to quote me while he was here for the estimate which was fairly priced. Lisa was the one we primarily worked with over the phone and via email for scheduling and payment. She was always very helpful and made sure our first job included the advertised 10% off Yelp discount. They came to pickup up our sliding door a week before to replace it with the sunscreen, and day of install the work was completed as expected. When we found out the 2nd story also needed sunscreens we had them back for measurements shortly after and they were even able to fix the lock on the sliding door we couldn't seem to lock. Again, they did an awesome job on the top floor screens. When Lisa texted to confirm the appointment the day before, we even asked them to take out the original screens since it was still in between. Of course, they took it out no problem while they were there to do the top floor. Highly recommend PSC for any sunscreen work. They went above and beyond and we will definitely call them again if we end up getting the rest of our windows done! P.S. all our sunscreens were 90% black with almond trim. They provide more privacy from the outside while also keeping out the super bright sunlight. read more

I am very pleased with Patriot sun Control. My sun shades were shot, so I called them to inquire about replacement. The gentleman that came out for the initial estimate helped me to decide where I needed sun shade and where standard bug screens should be. I was quickly given an estimate and scheduled installation. DJ Called to let me know they would be starting fabrication of the screens. I was undecided about several options, but DJ was very patient and professional with me. The first option was to replace the two screens used for each set of windows with a single pane. I was worried it would look too plain, But DJ explained that a bar would be run down the middle too make it look like two panes, but also provide a cleaner look. He was right (see my photos). Also the single pane uses clips for easy removal and cleaning. The second option was the screen color. Our house is beige (like everything else in AZ), so I initially to go with beige screen. I talked to DJ wondering if I should go with standard black. He explained that my original screens were faded black, so I decided on black. I also like that look (see photos). Last, he did a great job with the half round windows. The screens were an exact fit. Finally all my screens were installed on brand new frames. I know I will enjoy my screens for many years to come and know Patriot will be there if I need and after sale service. Thanks guys, great work! read more

Had a security door, screens, and a retractable screen put in February of 2019. This past winter the retractable screen broke. Contacted DJ in late March about a repair. No repairs due to Covid. Heard nothing. Called very beginning of June and have been getting the runaround since. He's always driving and will call us back, or can't schedule for many weeks and won't schedule. I can't say enough about DJ, Don, and the rest of the Patriot team. They were super responsive to my Yelp estimate request. On the estimate appointment, Don (Sr.) was prompt, super friendly and helpful in taking a look at my pathetic (over 20 years old!) sun screens and giving me a quick, no nonsense written estimate to replace my screens, plus re-do my equally sad patio screen slider door. I got at least two other estimates that day and neither of them offered to do as much as Patriot for the price that Patriot quoted. Because I went ahead with the estimate around the Fourth of July holiday week (when both I, as well as the Patriot staff, were away on vacation), it took a bit longer than usual to get me on the schedule, but Lisa was great about scheduling my job at a convenient date and time. DJ the Owner called me while I was out of town and came by himself to do the actual precise measurements since I was traveling that day. On the day of install, Billy (and I forget the other young man's name who was with him) were on-time, very professional, and did a great job knocking out the project on a horrid 110+ degree day. Even before they were done, the new sun screens made an instant visual impact, making my home look almost new. My only complaint is that the new screens work almost too well! I'm still not used to how dark it is inside (Note: I keep my blinds drawn closed in the Summer) some of the rooms now compared to my old, battered and essentially useless screens. I don't know if it's the new sun screens, the normal monsoon season we've been having, me just being more sensitive to heat/cold, or all three, but it definitely feels cooler in the home since the install got done, and I find I don't turn the thermostat on or down as much as before. It's still too soon to tell, but I am convinced I will see improvements on my electric bill before not too long--and all without breaking the bank. After two seasons of not being able to enjoy our back patio due to mosquitoes, I started looking for someone who could screen our back patio. I found many options for sun screens, shade and "Arizona Rooms" but a screen patio for bug control stumped more than a few businesses. A post on a community FB group resulted in a recommendation to give Patriot Sun Control a call, and I am glad I did. Patriot is a small business so on the one hand you will likely need to be willing to leave a message and have DJ call you back, on the other the "owner" of the business will be on the job. DJ came out to do an onsite estimate, show us material options and talk about design choices. At the time of the estimate he told said he was booking about 3-weeks out and once we made the decision to proceed, it was indeed about a 3 week wait, but worth it. In the end we have what we wanted, the materials are good quality and installation professionally done. I made an appointment a week ago with the person answering the phone (Nicole) . She was pleasant enough and scheduled me an appointment for the following Monday and told me a person named "Billie" would show up at my home for the estimate . Monday came but no "Billie" so I called Nicole ....she advised me that they had no record of ever setting the appointment . She did not seem very apologetic and went on to say that it is simply "human error" . So to sum this review up , this company could very well be a good company overall however they wasted a lot of time out of my day with no real sense of remorse . Six months ago I procured some window blackout blinds for the house with the intention of hanging them myself when time became available. Well, that time never came about so I went to yelp to get some quotations and help on this project. I came across Patriot Sun Control and sent them information on window dimensions, photos and specification on the product I got online. I found that "Most, if not all" Window blind and furnishings company will not touch nor install other businesses products. So I got a good many "Thank you for the inquiry BUT we do not do that type of work with another businesses product" However Patriot Sun Control will perform that service along with selling you the products they represent and warranty. Naturally they would love for me to buy their products and maybe, just maybe I will next time or give them an opportunity to provide a price estimate. Their bid to me for the two window dressing installations wave very competitive and the best price. Now I was worried for they only had 5 YELP reviews of which they were all FIVE STAR so I rolled the dice and I AM GLAD I DID. Patriot Sun Control office and staff communication was responsive and timely. There was only one time where I needed to follow up to ensure that my communications were not getting dropped and being responded too. In that instance I was assured that DJ would get back to me which he did in all instances. After I let them know that I had chosen them to do the work I let them know that I could wait a few weeks for they are way out in Glendale and I was in Chandler. This way they could line up some quotes and other installs to make the cross town venture viable and feasible for them. About two days before I got a Text from DJ confirming the next days installation and time. Additionally, that morning that morning DJ texted and called me to let me know he was on his way. The project began around 10:15am and project began around 10:25am approx and was completed in 90-120 minute. DJ also gave me some numbers for a pull down shade apparatus for my patio porch and information on installation of a security door for a friend of mine. The total experience was very professional, DJ was polite, civil and professional in his communications and his helper was equally the same. I do recommend Patriot for all window, window furnishings and shade/.awning work in the future.
