We were excited to see Patron come to Jasper. Good Mexican food is sorely lacking in East Texas. Unfortunately, it still is. We first gave this place a try a few weeks ago, when they were newly open. My bride got beef fajitas, which appeared to be nothing more than unseasoned sirloin steak sliced thin. The meat was tough and flavorless. My carne guisada was edible; that's all I'll say about it. Since they were new (although they have other locations in East Texas), we decided to withhold judgment until we gave them another shot. Today, my bride got the mushroom chicken and I got the enchilada dinner with a taco and a cheese "puff." One thing both dishes had in common: bland, bland, bland. (I have to add: so is the salsa, and it's thin enough to drink through a straw.) and my cheese "puff" was just a small tortilla bowl full of queso. We go to Houston a LOT, so we know good Mexican food when we find it. Patron ain't it. They'll do well in Jasper because there's pitifully little competition. But they wouldn't last a weekend in a location with decent Mexican food nearby. read more

This place is a mixed bag. They sure are busy enough, though! We went to look at some property by the lake, and drove through Jasper at 2:00 on a Friday. The parking lot was packed, and almost every table was occupied. The place is clean and decorated well. The staff is very friendly. The most attentive person was a guy named Erick, but he wasn't our waiter. Firstly, the chips and salsa are scant. Honestly, not a huge deal because we don't like to fill up on that anyway. The salsa was warm, which I like. I ordered the lunch Valentina's Plate. Nachos and a small quesadilla. Mike ordered Los Amigos. Three beef tacos with rice and beans. Mike loved the tacos. The rice was average and so were the beans. My nachos were lukewarm. The cheese had not totally melted. The quesadilla was okay. Both of our actual plates (the dishes themselves) were extremely hot, which begs the question, "How are my nachos lukewarm?" The prices were good at lunch, so we may give them another try. When we left (around 2:30), it was SRO. They must be doing something right! read more

I was so excited to meet my girlfriends for an early dinner. When I arrived I waited at the door for a good while with four hostesses looking at me. Then another couple arrived and they immediately asked them how many was in their party. I spoke up in a nice way to let them know that I was skipped. One hostess let me know that she thought I was with another party. The hostesses stared at me while one rolled her eyes. No apologies at all. I was seated and then my friends joined me at the table. Our waiter was Hector and he was very friendly and attentive. I ordered The Summer plate (I didn't get a picture) and a Pepsi Zero. One of my friends ordered the Birria Tacos. She said her tacos were great (pictured with the review) My Summer plate was not good. The taco shell and queso chip was stale. I also didn't care for the salsa. Even though I didn't like my food, my friends all liked their plates and they also raved about the margaritas. I will also add that the restaurant was very clean and that the decor is so fun in Patron Grill. I will give this place another try and hopefully I will order something that I really like from the menu. read more

Food is ok. It's not the food. It's the fact that you have waiters and waitresses coming over every 2 to 3 minutes while you are trying to eat and relax. I have to stop eating every time they come over and I have food in my mouth, it's awkward, It's super annoying, they should not be coming to your table that often it is rude and disrespectful. Just let people eat. I will be letting other people know this is how this business trains their staff. It's not ok. Uncomfortable atmosphere it needs to be changed with the waitresses and waiters. It's unfortunate. This will be my last meal here. The food is pretty good. The service is trash. Amazing service...but I would recommend that the waiter wears less cologne. The cologne was too strong to the point where my nose was becoming runny. The food on the other hand was top tier AMAZING!! I got the Lalo Special, and boy was it good! The meat was really good, I get that many people will complain about the shrimp being small but it adds flavor and value to the dish so I'm not gonna complain much about it. The beans weren't the best tho...they were bland and had little to NO taste. The agua fresca de Fresa was watered down yet good somehow? The ambiance however was BEAUTIFUL!! Loved the atmosphere, the beautiful plates, the smallest details played a big role in making this such a nice restaurant. I would definitely be coming back and recommend this place to anybody who hasn't tried!! read more

After hearing a lot of positive comments about this place, we decided to try it out. Not too good of an experience for us. The table and chairs were almost all off level or shaky, however you want to call it. The server took our order with her hands in her pockets like she had better places to be. The salsa tasted like heated up tomato water with cilantro and the queso wasn't bad, just underwhelming. I ordered the Valentina's Plate and my girlfriend ordered the carne guisada. Everything was nice and hot. The chicken and cheese quesadilla on my plate was bland, but it wasn't bad. The nachos were burnt and honestly was terrible. Couldn't eat them. The guacamole was smashed avocado and nothing more. I wish I was being nit-picky but I'm really not. My girlfriend's food was actually pretty tasty. Great seasoning. The only negative was the refried beans were burnt just like what was on my nachos. I didn't ask for anyone or try to not pay for the food, but when the lady up front asked me about our experience, I let her know simply that we were pretty disappointed. She then asked me cash or card. That last interaction will be the reason that we don't give this place another try. They simply didn't care that diners had a bad experience, just that they got their money. read more

Our little town of Jasper, Tx. is so fortunate to have Patron Grill open up. Since opening we have been twice and both times the experience was outstanding. In spite of a large number of people waiting to be seated we were seated within about 10-15 minutes. Our food was served in about the same amount of time. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. I cannot say enough good things about this location. We desperately needed a new option for dining out in our city and hopefully more will follow.
