The only thing that I have an issue with is the parking, especially the parking along the backside of that is against the ditch. Even with the cone, I feel like it's still a hazard. The food itself looked great, but I just have more of an issue with the parking lot. read more

Have the dinner avocado- I had a bite of hubby's and it was OUTSTANDING! We were there for lunch- slow to get seated but fast service from Doshie once we were there. Kudos to her for her upbeat attitude and persistence with the kitchen trying to get that second avocado half (hubby started with the lunch order, then immediately asked for the dinner size, it was sooo good!) 45 minutes ago My 3 friends and I had a get-together tonight at Martin's. We've eaten here before and the food was fine. Not spectacular, but fine. Well, tonight my food was AWFUL. I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp, and it was inedible.... way, way overcooked. I complained to the server, who asked if I'd like something else, but I didn't want to wait, as my friends were already eating. I complained to the girl at the cash register when I paid, but she completely ignored me. The only reason for 2 stars is because I was able to get full from the decent chips and salsa. When we're hungry on a road trip, we like to try local places. I was starving and we knew Jasper was going to be our last chance for a lot of restaurant choices for a while. We came across Martin's Mexican and let ourselves be bedazzled by all the signs claiming authentic Mexican food awaiting us inside. We entered to see a large restaurant and a prominent counter. We weren't immediately greeted and I did observe a similar issue upon trying to pay and leave. It seems the servers and cashiers occupy the same space, so it sometimes comes off as you being ignored, when really that person is only dealing with tables. We did get seated and met our server shortly after. Service had some issues, there were some mistakes made, but I was under the impression that she was new, so it's easily forgiven. I should also mention that the place was pretty full for lunch time on a Wednesday and they seemed to have an adequate number of staff for the crowd. I really enjoyed their sweet tea, I found it very satisfying and it hit the spot on a warm day. We were brought chips and salsa and also ordered a small queso. The chips were restaurant style and they were okay. The salsa was thin, but interesting. It had some heat and a sweet undertone, not bad. The queso was thick and mixed with jalapenos. The menu had a mix of prices, but they seemed pretty reasonable. The lunch menu on the back was between $7-9. Since we were getting back on the road and didn't want any leftovers, we stuck with the lunch menu. I ordered the quesadillas and went with chicken off the servers suggestion. My husband went with the beef nachos. The food took a while to come out and in that time, our server tried to bring us someone elses order. Shortly after that, she disappeared for a while. Another server brought us our order and I asked where my rice and beans were. I was told the order was put in with the either/or option of the salad, even though our server didn't read that back to me. However, it was quickly fixed, so no harm done. The nacho portion was quite large. I sampled some and can say it's pretty good! My rice and beans were fine and my quesadillas hit the spot. Well, I would give 3.5 stars, but will edge to 4. I think the place has average Tex Mex at best, however service was good, food came out fast at lunch, it was priced very reasonably and our groups food was all eaten. With all that said, the salsa was 1 star. It was some of the worst I have had at a restaurant. Watery with only a hint of flavor, other than tomato puree. The side order of queso was also not good. I had beef fajita nachos, was very happy with them. It was a large portion and everything came out as expected. At this time I do not think that I will return, and can only recommend if you are looking for cheap Tex-Mex in the Jasper area. read more

The service from the moment we sat down with our group of 7 that we received from Mrs. Chris was friendly and timely. We didn't want for a thing. We tried multiple salsa's and enjoyed great queso. Be sure to order MARTIN'S salsa which is not on the menu. I highly recommend their combination plate. Ate here on Friday night- as usual the food was delicious, and the service from Lauryn was great. Everything was hot and prepared correctly according to our substitutions. The floor was a little messy, but they are very busy on Friday's so that can be overlooked, but this Friday night was the worse I've ever seen it. I definitely recommend Martins. read more

A friend recommended this place to me and was I shocked. Went in cashier ask what I would like to order, I mentioned that a friend recommended the place and I had not been here before so I would need to see a menu. She handed me a menu I said oh my, and then she offered suggestions. I didn't say yes to any of those and she asked me if I liked avocados and I said yes. She proceeded to tell me about a dish that had avocado halves filled with your choice of meat. I ordered Fajita chicken, it was covered with queso cheese came with Spanish rice, salad and soup. My mother loves this place so my daughter and I ate in with her. She usually gets take out and we have always been satisfied with the food. I can't complain about the taste of the food, although my daughter had a very small bowl of rice that cost $2. There were maybe 4 spoonfuls in it. That was pretty disappointing. We had the stuffed avocado and it was good. The queso is delicious. The only real problem I had with this place (aside from the very small rice) was two of the servers were sweeping the carpet right beside us as we were eating. I understand them trying to keep the restaurant clean, but there was a ton of dust and grime wafting up from the broom and it was extremely unappetizing wondering how much of that was blowing into my meal. I don't think I would eat inside again for this reason. We will stick to take-out and just hope there is no sweeping going on in the kitchen. read more

This Mexican restaurant looks like it might not be something special but looks can be deceiving. This restaurant has alot of cars at it all the time. The chips and dips were great. I ordered the chimichanga covered with queso. It was great. Meat was cut up bite size which is key because if it's long pieces you tend to tear the changa all up trying to get the knife to cut pieces to eat. The restaurant is pretty clean. Who knew you could find this good iof TexMex in Jasper, Texas! The food and service was great. Be sure to ask for ground beef in your queso. It was terrific. The food was fresh and our server was very attentive. I ordered the Texas Dinner, with two cheese enchilada ad a tamale, along with a great salad plate. When I first moved here, I didn not like Martin's. It doesn't stack up against the mexican food places in Houston. After a few months, I went back with some coworkers and watched what they ordered. I like to get the Martin's sauce with my chips, which has cilantro and is very slightly spicy. The Texas Burrito is tasty with all it's chessy goodness. I also like the crazy fajitas, it's not on the lunch menu but they do have a lunch portion. The crazy fajitas are on a bed of rice with some cheese and jalapenos. No beans. They don't have sweet tea so I always get a coke. Staff is friendly. read more
