Food is great! Service is fast and the wait staff is friendly. My go to meal here is the queso flameado.

La Enchilada is a small-town Tex-Mex restaurant in Woodville. I suspect it gets quite crowded there at times, though it was not busy when I went. I grew up with Tex-Mex food from El Fenix in Dallas - especially their cheese enchiladas - so that has been the standard I have tended to use when comparing other Tex-Mex restaurants. This restaurant gets high marks from me! I ordered the Enchilada Dinner with cheese enchiladas, chili sauce, refried beans, and rice. Also, a margarita! The service was quick, the waitress was friendly, and the food was excellent. read more

What could improve? Management, staff, food is awful, nickel and dime you for everything.. I think that's why it takes to long to get any refills on your drinks! Go to Senior Toros down the road if you want better food, their queso and salsa are amazing at Senior Toros. read more

As soon as i walked in the door the old lady I'm guessing the manager on staff for the night was shooting daggers at me the entire time, making me very uncomfortable. Not sure what her problem was. Either the fact we (party of 2) came in 2 hours before closing or she just had some unspoken issue with me. Then made us wait to pay as she stood there reading a menu, then over charged us by 20$. I've been here multiple times with a party of two and never paid over 30$. We got less food this time and paid more?? Make it make sense. We order the same thing every time. And now I'm sick to my stomach, first time this has happened....will not be coming back!!! AWFUL!!!!! read more

Horrible food. Don't waste your money or time here. Chicken quesadillas tasted like tuna and salsa was just tomato sauce obviously out of a can. Seemed like everything we ordered was microwaved. A lot of it still being cold in the middle. Service was alright and I was charged way more than what was shown on my ticket! Please don't go here. Right from the jump let's recognize La Enchilada as 100% Tex-Mex. If you seek authentic Mexican food complete with the rolling R's then this is not your place. But if you're looking for some good ole comfort food, then this IS your place. Fantastic chips & salsa. Guacamole was also nice. The queso was cheesy greatness. I got the beef Chile relleno. The taste was good, but the batter was a moshed pile of dough. Beans and rice were ok. Really good food for the most part. I am taking off a bit due to the lackluster wait staff. Seems like talking and bullshitting is more important than hospitality. All considered, I'd go again. The food was that good. read more

My husband and I tried this restaurant one time before and it wasn't great , but due to the hurricane, we are without power and saw that they were open and decided to give them another try, I understand that they were packed but the people working in here are the rudest people I have ever met!! They refused to answer their phone , they rolled their eyes at almost every customer if they had a question or needed something, they brought our food with no silverware and when we finally got someone's attention, the lady was rude and we were nice about it and said thank you and she just stomped away like we did something wrong!! The guy working the cash register was the worst!! Needless to say we will never be back again, the food was decent but the service and staff was unacceptable!!! read more

Every time i've ordered togo, there are things that have been missing or just messed up. when talking to the manager they had an attitude and doesn't give refunds for the things missing or switched. read more

Not bad. We stopped here on the way to visit family and it wasn't half bad. I don't like snazzy places. I like somewhere I can roll up in sweatpants and not be judged for finishing 1 1/2 basket of chips and then asking for cheesecake ( delicious by the way). Amazing food but horrible service!! Seriously the food is incredible, it's fresh and tasty. We only saw our waitress twice, once when she finally took our order and last when she placed our food on the table. Our drinks were never refilled, even after asking twice. I understand that you are stretched thin being short staffed but the table behind us that kept ordering large amounts of alcohol never had to wait. All in all, go for the food and just hope the service gets better. read more

The building itself would make you think you're about to get a authentic Mexican food experience. What is on paper seems good yeah? No. The chicken is canned, the beef is processed to high hell, and the chips are all stale cheap "crunchy" salsa chips. If you're gonna give me an appetizer at least make it appetizing. I got some kind of Taquito and Quesadilla combo, I totally forgot what it was called exactly but the cheese was great, no lie, but the beef in the quesadillas was so dry and so bland that the cheese completely took over with the flavoring factor. I think it's a niche nice little place, it just needs some love in more areas than others. read more

We ate here and we're sorry we did. Driving up to the building it looks like a good place to eat (run down appearance on the outside, which typically indicates that there is a hint of authenticity to the cuisine). Upon entering it looks Mexican in style. There was no music playing, but the radio could have been out. Don't really know as it was our first and last time being here. We were instructed to sit down anywhere we'd like. We sat down. We were given chips and salsa promptly. The person that dropped them off didn't smile or even look at us. Even when we said thank you, not a nod or a smile, absolute crickets. The chips were okay. The salsa tasted like it came out of a jar, wasn't horrible but wasn't good either. The server came to the table quickly and took our drink order. When she came back she took our food order. The food came out swiftly. The server placed our bill on the table when she dropped off our food. I ordered the queso flameado, which I have ordered at other "Tex-Mex" establishments. The menu stated it was chicken or beef or combo meat with grilled onions and peppers topped with yellow queso served with tortillas. What came out was combo meat topped with queso. I didn't complain, just ate what was before me. The queso wasn't Mexican queso that's usually served onto of this dish. It was just melted sliced American cheese. The tortillas tasted like La Banderita brand tortillas. They are definitely not made in house, at least not the ones I got. My husband ordered a plate that had chicken enchilada, beef tamale, beef taco. The enchilada was bland in taste as if you got them from a hospital. The beef taco was like you'd get from Taco Bell only skimpier. The tamale was moist and mushy, like you'd get out of a can of hormel beef tamales. The rice and beans were below average, yet they were the best part of both meals. The server didn't come back to our table the rest of the time we were there. After we were finished eating, we went to the cashier. He was friendly and asked how was everything. I told him that I'd rather not say. He responded "I can respect that". We paid for our food, left a tip on the card. Then left. The best way to describe this place is a "More Tex than Mex" establishment catering to the elderly community who eats bland food. read more

This place is okay. I was very disappointed when I discovered that their "horchata" was nothing but a class of water and 'KLASS Horchata Instant Drink Mix.' I was very disappointed. The food was very salty. At least the chicken enchilada and the pork tamale were. The frijoles were blah and the mexican rice was so bland and dry. I also had a guacamole taco that a previous Yelper (Greg H.) had recommended and tilapia. The guacamole taco was good but then again, how hard is it to squish avocados and chop up onions? If it were possible to give zero stars to this restaurant I would. Margaritas are clearly from a mix. The food is extremely bland. One person in our party had a bug frozen in her ice cube. Another head some kind of bacon wrapped chicken that looked like a croissant it was so overcooked. Usually. You can find one bright spot at any restaurant but that wasn't the case here. My fajita tacos had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. If you're looking for great authentic Mexican food, this is not the place. read more

I really do love this place and have been going here since I was little since I grew up in the area. Every time I've eaten here the food has been great and so has the staff. I am a bit confused about the poor reviews of this place because I have never experienced service like that. So while I recommend this place it seems to be a hit or miss for some people but I recommend trying it out for dinner anyways since the prices are very agreeable and they usually have awesome specials. read more

After reading a few other reviews I wonder if these folks were reviewing La Enchilada? While visiting family we stopped in for dinner. Place was busy and we were surprised with the fast service. My coworkers and myself ordered food here, 1 out of 4 found a real live bug with 4 legs in her food... she requested a redo and a little consideration that "Hey you brought my food out with a live bug".. because we had already waited most of our time here she had to get a fresh plate minus the bug... long story short the Manager said there are plenty of bugs there it could have been in any of our plates... unless your fond of eating something extra And getting a lil extra to season your food don't eat there!!!! read more

I really wanted to love this place, as I love Mexican food and margaritas, but the experience we had here was a little off. Honestly, it was nothing terrible I just wouldn't waste my time or money to come here again as the service was not the best and I've definitely had better Mexican food and drinks. The server we had never once smiled, and was very bland and monotone. There was absolutely no music playing...the strangest thing ever, it definitely set the mood in the wrong direction. The margaritas looked like they were dyed a weird green color for St. Patrick's day (not a normal margarita green), but they tasted okay I could just definitely tell the tequila was lacking. We ordered some queso as an appetizer and I kid you not, it tasted like broccoli and cheese soup. All in all, it was a disappointing experience and I will probably not be returning. read more

This place can sometimes be a hit and miss, and it really just depends on what your taste is. I like it because its decent food for a good price. You don't have a long wait for your food whether you dine in or carry out. Their salsa is really good. A bit spicy but that's the way I like my salsa. This was my first visit here. I've been by here lots of times, but have never stopped. We stopped here for lunch today while we were in town to pick up a few things. Both of us, my father in law and I, ordered the taco dinner for lunch along with sweet tea. I'd like to be able to give it more stars but, when the tacos came out, they were the littlest tacos I've ever seen!!!! They were served with a side of refried beans with cheese on them. There might have been maybe two tablespoons of meat on them and that might be exaggerating! They did have a good covering of lettuce and tomatoes though. The did bring a basket of chips and a small container of salsa to the table prior to bringing out lunch order out. The salsa left a little to be desired also. It was kind of like stewed tomatoes run through a blender. It could be a lot better place to eat with little effort if they would add some jalapeños and cilantro to their salsa to spice it up a little! Make their tacos a little bigger. They could really bring in some business as there's really not a lot of Mexican food places to choose from in this area. One thing we noticed while paying for lunch was that there was a county health inspection rating of "B" with the numbers 88 beside it!!! Not sure what that meant but, I've never seen a place with a "B" rating before with a short of 88!!! I get the feeling it could use some tender loving care in the cleaning department! Lots of room for improvement here, it could be a lot better place with a little effort and draw a good crowd for lunch and dinner! read more

The food was ok but as we were finishing the busboy came to us and picked up our plates while we were still eating. They told us the manager told her to pick our plates up. I will never, ever eat here again. About 9 months to a year ago, I met my step-mom and sisters there to eat lunch. My sister found a dead fly on her plate. We all completely lost our appetite. They did comp my sister's meal, but they should have comped all of our meals, as the experience ruined it for all of us. i have been eating here since they opened years ago. the food has always been 90% consistent, fresh tasting, and priced well. in late may/early june of 2013 i ordered mixed fajitas for one with extra meat, three tacos and chili con queso via the drive thru. i usually always check the order before leaving based on that solid reputation. i didn't this time. i got home to find shriveled fajita meat that was all the same color, including the veggies. i couldn't tell what was meat and what was veggie. it literally looked as if they scraped someone's plate clean and reheated it then threw it in a box. the taco meat was rancid, and the queso for some reason had a greasy spoonful of taco meat in it. i called and politely stated my complaint. rudy, the manager got on the phone and began defending his food. so i brought the order back, he opened the box and asked me what that was. i told him that was my order. he got very upset and walked away. the cashier brought my money back. no offer to make it right, no apology, no nothing. i had to get the dude to go get rudy to come back. when he did he asked me what i wanted. i told him i was trying to salvage a long standing business relationship and i wanted him to make it right with an appreciative attitude. i told him i would never come again because of his attitude. i practically begged this man to make an attempt to apologize or something that showed that my years of loyal business mattered to him. no chance. i was truly heart broken. i will never return again or recommend this place. not because of the food so much as the piss poor practices that take place on occasion, and the outright disregard for the people who keep their lights on. read more
