Unfortunately I don't like writing bad reviews for small town businesses, especially one that's a staple for Hawley. But this is pretty bad to warrant a negative review. Tried to meet friends for drinks there, but The system they use does not scan out of state licenses or federal Identification. So although my husband both had his Real ID FL license and his military spouse ID, he was totally denied service, and was told he can't even be in the bar. Unfortunately they lost customers tonight because of it. While I understand PA licenses have to be scanned, it is a huge flaw that they don't scan any other ID's, especially those that you can even fly through airports and enter federal property with. For a town that relies heavily on tourism in the summertime, I feel that it's a massive flaw to not accept out of state licenses. read more

Took a motorcycle ride with a group of 8 on Labor Day and the restaurant we had chosen was closed. Pat's was close by so we gave it a shot. The bartender was very overwhelmed and a regular, who was not an employee, acted as our waitress. Burgers, hot dogs, bar pies, and chicken sandwiches. Not much on the menu but the burgers were good. The bar was full and all the tables were full so I won't give a bad rating although there were some hiccups. $74.50 for all of us (we got a little break because of the hiccups). What a great local "dive" bar. Very limited menus but when you have the best burger in PA you don't need much else! That said the grilled ham and cheese and grilled cheese were awesome. Oh , and I'd be remiss if I didn't encourage you to give the frozen Baileys shots a try - delightful. read more

Pat's is always a great stop . We seasonal camp in the area and make our way to Pat's a few times during the season. This local longtime establishment has great personality.The bartenders are always so nice . We love the burgers and what a great setup of cooking them right behind the bar. Dive bar with a good selection of alcohol & a very basic menu. The thing to eat here is a burger. It's grilled right at the bar by the bartender & comes with the normal fixings. Was homemade and very good! Juicy! Wish I could have ordered fries or onion rings. We enjoyed stopping in, chatting with all the friendly people & our wonderful cheeseburger! read more

I haven't left a review in years, but this time I simply have to. Our bartender was Kathy. 3 of us walked in, one of my friends who was somewhat drunk was cut off after his first drink, which I respect. She cut him off after his first drink which again, I respect. We hung out for another half an hour or so and me and my other friend had another drink without any issues, but upon leaving, our other friend who was cut off asks for a water. He's simply asking for a water to sober to a bit before we head out and well, it's just water. I've never seen a bartender say no to water but it finally happened. She goes "No, you are cut off, not serving you anymore" and I've never been denied water before. How do you deny water to a drunk person at the bar that you served minutes ago??? I can't believe this actually happened, but it did. Do with this info as you wish but this is 100% a real story. You're denying water to someone that you cut off before they were too drunk? Make it make sense. read more

On one of my many trips to Hawley, PA - my friend brought me to Pat's for a couple of games of pool and to experience one their infamous hamburgers. As you walk in, a pretty decent bar and an old fashioned juke box greets you. Towards the back is the pool table with some high top tables scattered about. Jeans, shorts, t-shirts and sweatshirts are the "dress code" here, there is definitely no dress to impress at Pat's. The burgers, well, let me say this, my pictures do them absolutely no justice. This is one incredibly delicious, monstrous burger with all the toppings and are made with Pat's "secret" seasonings, pure goodness in every bite. Without a doubt it's up there on my top 10 burger list. There is not a kitchen here - these burgers are made on an enclosed grill off to the side of the bar, I've never seen anything like it. There are some other selections such as pizza, grilled cheese, hotdogs, chicken sandwiches and others, but the burgers, pickles and potato chips served on paper plates is the way to go and what they're known for. Add a cold beer on tap to that and you've got the perfect lunch! I was loving everything about this place, this is country living at it's best. Pat's is a great place that is extremely popular with the locals and where you go to hang out and relax with friends, for hours. A head's up if you're a nonsmoker, like me - in Hawley there is no, "no smoking ban" so ashtrays are everywhere. This was something I had to get used to, but it didn't take very long. I will be going back to Pat's whenever I visit Hawley and it's something I'll always be looking forward to. read more

The pluses are the burgers. My wife had one and she loved it. I had a grilled chicken and it was passable but no where near great. The staff was very friendly and made you feel like home. Prices were also positive. $16.00 for a burger ,grilled chicken, two bags of chips and two sodas. Now the negatives. Only one low table in the back next to tho pool table. All others are stools and high. Very limited menu with no sides like fries or any vegetarian options like salads. If your looking to drink lunch or drink in general, it's probably a great place to go because of the extremely happy and friendly staff. read more

Super unfortunate that my friends and I were not welcome into this establishment last night by the bartender. We think she must have just been having a bad night and took it out on us. We were just trying to have a fun night in town and she immediately rejected us and had the most unbelievably negative attitude! We even had a DD with us, I think she just thought too many of us were coming inside at one time. Needless to say, we will never go back!! Don't have a single problem any of their great food but I did have "a few" cocktails on more than one occasion. The a.m. locals gave us the once over "who are you? stare down". The Burgers are awesome just don't dare get there close to closing time.....they won't cook if Kathleen is working. It is GREAT local flavor! The Burgers on the somewhat altered toaster oven that cooks better than most 5 Star Chef stoves are incredible. You won't believe it until you try. "Pat's burgers the best in town!" Oh yeah! They got 2 thumbs up in my book. Last summer I treated a friend of mine to a "Pat's burger" and it was the 1st time she was ever there. Then I treated her and another friend and once again, we all enjoyed our burgers. Oh, and during the summer season you can't forget to ask to see if they have any of Pat's "famous garlic pickles"? On another occasion I had taken my father into Pat's bar so he can try one of their famous Pat's burgers. Omg, he was in his glory! This is truly a bar. Definitely the best burger in the area. In fact all they sell is pizza hotdogs and burgers. Bags of chips. But we come here often to get that delicious burger The burger I think is five dollars. and well well well worth it. The bartender and chef is very nice. If you're in the area and want a quick beer and burger this is the place. Definitely my kid friendly. A fun experience for sure. I've told everyone I know, when they come to Hawley, they HAVE to have a Pat's Burger... they're THAT good. I've brought friends from as far as Florida, Iowa, West Virginia, even Canada there, and they all agree - their burgers are incredible. Pat's is also a great place to just 'sit and have a drink', too - two TV's at either end of the bar, which the bartender is always willing to change the channel if you desire. An internet-connected Jukebox with unlimited selections, a pool table in the back, dart board as well. Surrounding walls in the back are covered with huge framed collages of pictures of customers and employees, separated by year, sometimes during parties (holidays are fun here) sometimes just random candid shots. Makes for an interesting 'walk-around' as long as you don't get in the way of someone's pool game ;) The bartenders are always friendly and funny, most have a sarcastic and uplifting sense of humor and can 'hang with the best' when it comes to conversations about basically anything. They're all quite experienced in mixology (yes, that's a thing) and as long as you're not asking for a whole case of bottles of Johnny Blue, there's not much they don't have there. Basically, a draft beer (Yuengling is always on tap, of course), a bottle of 'Bud', or a Jack & Coke (RIP Lemmy) is most likely to be seen. If you're looking for a bar to relax in, find some good conversation, have an incredible burger, and possibly get a history lesson about Hawley from some of the locals, this is your place. I go there as often as I can, usually for happy hour, and always leave in a better mood than when I walked in. :) If ya go, have a Pat's burger - and tell 'em I sent ya. read more
