Stellar evening at The Ridge Restaurant, a hidden gem in Hawley, PA. Wonderful ambiance, service was pleasant & prompt. Drinks were well made & strong. The food was excellent. The baked clams appetizer was tasty & the salad was cool & crisp & served family style. Out entrees of homemade ravioli with meatballs & veal francese were excellent. Would highly recommend. We will definitely return!

Everything was perfect. The staff, the ambience & the food! Delicious! The portions are very generous along side an included salad & bread with roasted garlic dipping sauce so be careful if you don't have a place for leftovers. We started with an appetizer of crab & lobster stuffed mushroom caps and could have stopped there. Of course we continued with veal parmigiana & veal franchise. So much food, & so delicious. They don't rush you out the door, so relax & enjoy. Highly recommend.

This was the best meal we've had in a while. My husband and I got two dishes to share -- Morgan's Jam and Crab and Lobster Stuffed Shrimp -- and both were delicious (and were generous portions, too). Our waitress was kind and helpful, and the dining room was really relaxing and pretty with its low light and intimate setting. Would definitely return if we're ever in the area!

Is this place kid friendly also?

Personally, I think it's a little more of an adult venue but I'm sure there are things on the menu that kids will like.

There's no official kids' menu, but that didn't matter one bit. The owner himself came over to chat with our kids, and without hesitation, offered to make a personal pizza for our daughter. She devoured the entire pie. My son similarly polished off a plate of chicken on a bed of spinach in record time. We shared a round of calamari and the most beautifully balanced cheese board; paired with local honey, olives, and a perfectly chosen wine. The Cacio e Pepe? Hand-made that day, cooked to the most perfect al dente, and so delicious that my daughter declared, "It tastes like fancy mac and cheese." (High praise from a discerning 5-year-old.) It would be amiss if I didn't give a shoutout to Christian, the bartender, who felt more like a magician. I asked why my gin cocktail tasted so uniquely good, and he casually mentioned he had prepped it with cucumbers for six days. SIX. DAYS. Just when we thought we couldn't eat another bite, we shared a crème brûlée--and it was the best kind of night-cap. Creamy, crackly perfection. Cozy, elevated, warm, and full of heart--Ravyn & Robyn is a gem I can't wait to visit again.

That said, Palermo's is a Pizza+ place strategically located outside a managed (vacation) community. From the top, the parking lot is a danger to get in and out as well as just navigating the trucks parked in front in unmarked spaces better suited for compact cars. You walk in the front door, facing the restrooms with dining room to the right and the bar / dining room to the left. We were not so much greeted as stared-at, like we were supposed to tell them what to do. We witnessed the same lack of kind control at the entrance by 3 other employees, as there seemed to be no one in particular who was meant to control front of house. We were early for dinner on a week day, about 4:30 pm, so the place was empty but for 3 men at the bar and a pait on the patio. Still it took a while to get menus. Then longer to get drinks. We just wanted to get a fresh pizza, which should have been a slam-dunk for a business that thrives on delivery into a gated community. We ordered the 'granma pizza' and an order of calamai. Again, it took 20 minutes to get the calamari, which was dreid out, possible from a heat lamp. The batter was light and crispy, but they had no flavor at all. Just a little salt/pepper would have given it flavor. We had asked for extra sause with them, that was forgotten. The 'granma pizza' which is simply square flat crust with sause and cheese took another 20 minutes. Maybe they got stuck peeling the plastic wraps off the cheese-like slices? At least that's what it looked like. The service was barely a notch above 'get it yourself!'. Which made the final cut such an insult. I've seen plenty of places list suggested tip calculations on the bottom of the check. Usually it's just a note in fine print showing you the math for 15, 18 & 20% - and hoping you add one of those or more, which since COVID, we always do. This roadside nightmare had the stones to print 4 check-boxes for you to choose - 20, 22, 25 and 30% !!! I did tip over 20% because we do, but that will be the last. I stopped short of a 1-star review, because, although Palermo's was a complete disappointment, that's all it was; disappointing on every level.

Let's start with the obvious: this is supposedly a chop house. So how do you mess up the steak? I ordered medium and it came out rare, poorly cut, and completely flavorless. No crust, no seasoning, no care. It's impressive, honestly you have to actively try to make a steak this sad in a restaurant that literally has "chop house" in the name. Not worth the price for sure. The menu reads like someone threw darts at a culinary map. Sicilian kimchi? Why? The carpaccio had all the excitement of wet paper. The Caesar salad was wilted and bland. The onions and mushrooms were somehow both greasy and watery at the same time, an impressive feat of culinary confusion. The veal pasta was so aggressively lemony it tasted like someone dropped a bottle of Pledge into the pan. Then there was the whitefish special with chips that felt like a bizarre, half-hearted attempt to acknowledge the Jewish holiday. As a Jew, if that was the intention, it came across more like a punchline than a tribute. Presentation across the board looked rushed and sloppy. The real question is: who is the chef and what exactly are they doing back there? Because if your entire concept is a chop house and the steak is the worst part of the meal, something has gone very wrong. Gresham Chop House has great service, which is honestly the only reason this experience wasn't a complete disaster. But the kitchen needs a serious identity check, and maybe a salt shaker.
