This place was terrible. My son and I went for brunch - both of us had french toast with sausage and eggs, plus drinks. My french toast had a hair in it, and the sausage had a very strange taste to it. This place is, in my opinion, not clean, cozy or welcoming at all. It's two dusty rooms with very low ceilings. Good location and comfortable atmosphere. Bacon was crisp but not over cooked. The eggs were cooked perfectly over medium as ordered. The biscuits were really good but next time we will just go with butter and honey as the gravy was so-so. The hash browns were cooked into one solid potato pancake which had to be chopped up on the plate before eating. The coffee was standard but tastier than many restaurant's brew. Food was pretty delicious, as far as breakfast food goes. Only thing I want to scold about is the fact that on the menu it says every order comes with toast. When my food came out I asked the lady where my toast was. She told me no bread comes with my meal. Blatantly lied right to my face. Learn your menu lady. I'll bring my own loaf of bread next time. All the knick knacks are cute, but I don't want to be seated with those dusty things in my face and hanging over my food. The building needs TLC as the dish pit area, you can see the ceiling rotting towards the dining area. Food is good, but I don't enjoy earing in the rotting building anymore. Just driving up and parking I questioned the 3-star rating on here; the house is dilapidated and there's a grease drum leaking onto the sidewalk. But I trusted my fellow yelpers and went in. I waited to be seated for an inordinate amount of time bc every table in the place was either occupied with people or dirty dishes. The table was "cleaned" and I sat and ordered. The couple at the table next to me were complaining that they used only the cheapest ingredients and products, and they were right. The coffee was watery, the want-to-be waffle house hashbrowns were sopped with grease, the hotlink was straight out of a package. As everyone previously has mentioned, the interior of the place is a little strange, being quite clearly the first floor of someone's house. The thing not mentioned, though, was the intense cigarette smoke filling the dining room at regular intervals. I'm allergic to tobacco, so this was pretty hard to take. The food was a little greasy. I had the veggie omelette, which was filled with olives (not listed on the menu) and covered in nacho cheese, which was a little weird. The hash browns were crunchy and tastless. The biscuits had a weird aftertaste. My wife ordered the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was good, but her biscuits were not fully cooked. Had reservations for a Saturday morning for 9 people from a retirement community. We got there and after waiting for about 20 minutes they took our drink order and our breakfast order. We got our drinks (mostly coffees and water) finally but food was never delivered. Meanwhile all the tables around us, even those who came in well after us, were being served. One of our party went to the register to ask the waiter what was taking so long. He just ignored her and walked away without saying anything. So after waiting an hour and a half we just got up and left. Also they never came around for a refill on the coffee or water. We were completely ignored. Might be a good place if you're a small party of 2, but I think mamasan didn't really want us there. The only good thing was the coffee. read more

I used to frequent Pats in the late 80's and the 90's. I loved it! Pat was still there and she made fresh bread and huge cinnamon rolls like my Grandma's every day. It was extra warm in there because it IS smaller than most places to eat and the ovens were on!! Everything was made fresh and it was a fantastic place to eat! It was very homey and the smell of the dough and baking was out of this world!!! Fresh bread, rolls, pies etc. and Pat did it all. She lived in a small room inside the restaurant and it was closed off only by a hanging cloth. She would come out and help out any time she was needed even if she was done for the day. Pat was a wonderful individual and I am sorry if her place has gone down hill. It would break her heart to see that happen, especially with her name still on the building. ( I haven't been there for a long time as I just moved back to the area ). I used to go there for cinnamon roll, coffee, and sometimes great eggs while studying before going to class at St. Martins. This place instantly reminded me of my grandma with all the little tchotchkes all over the place. If she'd ever had a restaurant it may have looked a lot like this one! Service was swift and food was good. I noticed that the eggs are definitely not from the pre mixed or powdered sort. Plus!There was no asking what kind of toast you'd like, but rather, you were brought some barely toasted/buttered, looked and tasted like someone ran across the street, and bought the $1.50 loaf of wheat bread. I like sourdough toast, but I didn't complain and ate it. I had the ham steak and eggs and my husband had an omelette. Again, the food was good, but not plentiful. So if you are a big eater, probably wanna go somewhere else. If you are a light to medium eater, then this should do the trick for ya. My husband loved the place, I thought it was alright. I like the ambience of this place. One thing about me is that breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, however, I hate making breakfast. This place is like home away from home. I really wanted to like this place. It's open select hours I believe only Saturday Sunday. We went on a Saturday morning there were a lot of open tables so we got seated right away but that was the only thing that happened quickly. The waiter was very friendly but you could tell he was running on high speed we soon found out why. He got out drink order 2 hot cocoa and a water and a coffee. There were no table settings and the coffee was old. My son eventually went to the stand area and asked for a spoon so we could stir coffee. We got some place settings a bit later. There are only 3 people running this while restaurant an older woman, the younger very energized waiter/bus boy/ kitchen stocker/ whatever needs to be done, and a man in the kitchen cooking. I'm not sure what the older gal did other than bring us out our plates one at a time. The young man was running back and forth bussing tables, taking orders, bringing out food, getting food from the freezer (I only know because he had to carry it through the dining room). My daughter for her food first but had knocked her fork off the table so I gave her mine which turned out to be fine because I didn't get mine for about 7 -10 minutes more and then I asked for a fork so I could eat. My entire family finished their meal before my son again went to the stand and asked for a fork and for our waters to be refilled which had been sitting empty for at least 20 minutes. I also didn't get my whole meal until about 15 minutes after I began eating. The food was ok standard prepackaged ready to warm up type of stuff so it was hard to mess up. Been here twice. Let's start with the decor, it's old, like 1940's old. It's pretty dingy and dilapidated in there, and it's very small, as mentioned it's an old house converted into a restaurant. There is one bathroom in the whole place and it is small and very outdated. I actually question whether or not my hands were clean upon leaving. I believe they even hand wash all their dishes, I don't think they have an actual dishwasher. Both times I went there it was very hard to get any attention. Which is odd because the first time we were there isn't wasn't busy at all, and the second time it was. But both times it took over 15/20 minutes to get our free water and order taken. And neither time, did anyone come and check on us or get us refills. For this reason I don't think I will return. The menu has a lot of options to it, and they do make some pretty good French toast. Their eggs are greasy and not very flavorful. You definitely need some salt and pepper for things that aren't sweet. I've had their omelets and the French toast combo. I enjoyed both but the omelet lacked flavor. I usually really enjoy small mom and pop places and love supporting my local economy, so the lack of service and attentiveness was a little disappointing. read more

I wanted a restaurant near Martin Way & Marvin Rd, Pat's being minutes away qualified. My wife and I arrived about a quarter of nine on a Friday and the parking lot was full. A nice sign. Once inside, it was like you were in a friend's home, nothing like a chain restaurant. My wife had French Toast while I had the hot link and eggs. The waitress made sure that I knew that it would be hot, and she was correct. The coffee was good and the bill was a surprise by being under twenty dollars. We will definitely come back. I asked about parking in the rear and was told that it was huge, so if the main parking lot is full feel free to park behind the restaurant. read more
