I'm updating my review because I've tried this place under different circumstances. Crappy day when the weather makes everything depressing? Happy tummy. Solo? Happy tummy. Rumbly tummy? Happy tummy. Literally, every single time I come here, I leave with a happy and slightly over full stomach. The wait is getting a little longer these days because I think people are catching on that this is the place to make your tummy happy, but if you want a retro boho style atmosphere with some of the best breakfast/brunch/lunch you've EVER tasted, you NEED TO COME HERE AT LEAAT ONCE IN YOUR LIFE. And if the French bread is on the specials, get one piece to share with your dining companion. If you aren't fighting over the crumbs and syrup, you just aren't doing it right. read more

After reading about this place on "best of" lists, we finally remembered to drop by here for breakfast. Now that I've tried it I can say that this is hands down the best breakfast place I've tried in Olympia so far. Unless you're there when they open, you're gonna wait because this is a small restaurant with a lot of people who want in. They have a nice seating area, but it's small, so you might have to wait outside. As soon as you walk in, put your name on the list because even if you're okay with sitting as at the counter, you have to check in. After a 15 minute wait a table next to the window cleared up so lucky us. Sis got the poached eggs on toast and she loved it. She also got the lavendar latte and we both don't really like lavendar, but this drink was lovely. I got the traditional breakfast with eggs, chicken apple sausage, toast, and a side sald. My dudes, you have to get the side salad. The carrots are finely grated and flash fried so the topping is slightly crunchy. Put that with the pepitas and a lightly sweet, creamy dressing and you've got heaven in your mouth. Even the toast was buttered perfectly and the right amount of toasting so that it was delicious with butter and with or without the jam. As soon as we were eating was as soon as we were already making plans to return. This place is the best. read more

Wow. Cool little menu for a cool little place. Hole in the wall is an understatement, however, we went fully specials menu today. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would do it. We started with some amazing coffee, but when the most amazing biscuits and gravy came out, I was astounded by the rich mushroom gravy that was more of a stroganoff than a country gravy. The sausage set this dish off and topped with two eggs made every tastebud swoon with delight. Saving the best for last, these evil sorcerers decided to make French toast out of a dense, thick slice of bread pudding. Topped with a berry compote and vanilla drizzle, each bite had me squealing in ecstasy. I can't do regular French toast ever again! read more

We had breakfast here at 8:30 this morning. Im in town visiting and my friend said i had to come here. She comes so often that they know her and our server was teasing her. The place is small and cute. I like that they have a simple menu with quality food. Their fresh fruit was delightful. The food was delish but a bit of a wait. The wait is worth it. My only suggestion is to change the name of special breakfast. I was trying to order the special of the day which was french toast and it got mixed up. It was super busy and we had to wait half an hour for seats. Thankfully it was sunny, so we sat outside and talked. The wait was so worth it, for the food. Was a tad pricy, but worth it to support a thriving small business. Will definitely go again! Get there early to find parking! Breakfast sandwich was PERFECT! The diced breakfast potato's were the perfect crispness! The scramble was sooo yummy! and the toast! amazing with or without jam! Loved their cute selection of card games and other brain bender type games! Kept the kids occupied! Love that the seats are right on top of eachother (unless you are at the bar too), clean bathroom but if you have diaper kids no place to change FYI! The Peach mimosa was super refreshing! I just have to say I truly found my experience nothing short of yummy and delightful all smashed together. Nestled in a neighborhood, the vibe is small town with great food. Don't let a small wait to eat, send you away as they seat you quickly and the food is worth waiting to eat. The servers are wonderful with quick and friendly service. I can't tell you enough about how much I enjoyed my Americano, one of the best I have ever experienced. As a vegetarian, I had good options to pick from. Best breakfast out we've had in quite some time. It was a unanimous vote between us all. The wait was roughly 30 minutes, but it flew by so it wasn't a problem at all. It's a great sign so many people were willing to wait for their food in my opinion. The menu is a bit smaller, but in no way is that a bad thing. They do those items so well, and really that's what you want. The ambiance is super casual and feels like you're at home in a comforting sense. Trust me in this. It's for locals. Had three sets of "locals" taken around us before we were sat. We were then left at the table with no one even glancing our way. However everyone else was getting refills on their coffee and talked to as if old friends. Especially at the bar. They got preferential treatment. We left after 20 minutes. My husband and I were in the area after dropping our car off at the dealership and decided we wanted to try this cute little breakfast place. I'm so so glad we decided to come here because it did not disappoint. Elizabeth (sp?) was our waitress and she was so so so kind and attentive to us. I was sad they were out of the lemon aid tea, but she offered a different selection that was similar that she thought I would like and boy was she right. I believe I got the Marion berry tea? Anyways the tea I got regardless was absolutely incredible. I'm such a tea snob so it's hard for me to find any I truly like but the one I had with breakfast was delicious and it came in a cute little pot so I could refill my cup as needed. Overall Elizabeth made our visit so wonderful, I can't rave about her enough. My husband got coffee and he was even blown away by that, he said he's never had such tasty, fresh coffee before! My husband got the breakfast sandwich with eggs on the side and he devoured his food, me however, not so much, don't get me wrong, the French toast was sooo yummy! Baby just did not like it :(. I was still starving though and ordered eggs and potatoes and that was very yummy, so fresh and they got it to me so quickly after I ordered, I was very very impressed. The ambiance of the place is so relaxing and cute, I love all their little decoration they had everywhere, it made the place feel more cozy! We've just moved to the area and we've been so excited to give Bits Cafe a try. This weekend was finally the chance we'd been waiting for - what a GEM! The coffee was fantastic and poured freely and often. The service was EXCEPTIONAL, friendly, and welcoming. The space was filled with live plants, beautiful music, intricate tile work - I loved the details from the tiny coffee spoons to the vintage Pyrex coffee mugs to the beautiful bathroom doorknob. No details were overlooked, big or small. The food was FANTASTIC and immediately devoured - you're lucky I paused briefly for this photo. The wait to be seated and to received our food was worth it - everything was delicious. I got the Special Breakfast and my wife got the eggs Benedict with ham and gluten free bread. Both were incredible. We will absolutely be regulars at our new favorite neighborhood restaurant. We had a chance to speak with the owner - what a lovely and thoughtful human being. This is a cute little cafe , about a mile from the mall, in a neighborhood setting. Drive easy because people live there. Limited parking. It has a really relaxing, friendly vibe. Bits has established themselves as my favorite brunch spot in Olympia. I've eaten there three different times now and the food has always been incredible. The cooks are busting their ass back there, the service is consistent and thoughtful. The ambiance might be my favorite. Music is important for me when it comes to atmosphere and they always have a chill vibe. Let's be honest, garbage music can be very distracting. Often at eateries the bar can be cold and uninviting, at Bits it's very comfortable and you can watch them work which is impressive. The overall vibe here feels like a friend who has the most Kick-Ass dining room. Everyone is working incredibly hard at that includes the owner who is approachable, down to earth, and charming. It's not the most elaborate menu and I'm not sure it needs to be. This is a must if you're cruising through Olympia. read more

This is my favorite restaurant. I know, hear me out. I've been coming here every weekend for a solo breakfast away from my family to decompress after a week of parenting and it is consistently a place I feel safe and supported. I have developed genuine connections with the people who work here. I have cried with many of them. I came here while my sister was in the hospital and I was told she was dying, and I was safe and seen through it in this space. It's more than just breakfast here: it is community. And the food, which you probably are more interested in hearing about than all my crying, is OUTSTANDING. I would eat it every day. I get eggs over medium and they're perfect EVERY TIME (IYKYK). I'm having this internal battle- do I gatekeep, or do I do the right thing and tell you all just how magical this place is? Well, here we are. First off- it's adorable. Bits Cafe has the kind of charm I've been yearning for since I moved to the area almost a year ago. It's clean, it's bright, it's somehow humble with hints of gracious fancy at the same time. The food- it was juuuust right. Beautiful, large portions, and lovely offerings. Not too many options, which I always appreciate. There was a subtle curiosity in every bite that made me excited for the next. The tea menu is also divine. Oh, and the hot sauce wall is was such a fun thing, too. My kids chose sauces for my husband and I, and we both enjoyed the two they chose (based solely on the colors of the labels). Speaking of kids- there are lots of fun games to choose from! Not just kids' games, but for everyone. That was a very sweet touch. I don't think you can come into this place without feeling the love that's gone into it. It's clear that this place is special. Love it. Great service, fantastic food, and a fine touch of everything Olympia (like the local kraut, coffee). Really nice, chill ambiance to boot. So why the 4 stars? As a person with celiac disease, the options here are very limited for me. I opted for the mixed veg and tortillas, but would have loved a Benedict or another dish. I'd go back for the same dish, but would love to safely explore the menu. I know it's a big ask, but maybe someday we'll live in a world where a dedicated toaster will become a thing. Initially given a wait time of 25-30 min. 1 hour later I'm still sitting on a leather couch waiting for a table while watching food leave the the kitchen. I'm having existential thoughts about life and death pondering the decisions that have led up to this moment. At one point maybe 15 minutes ago I opened the uber eats app on my phone. What a rush. I suppose in Olympia the appropriate amount of time to clean a table is 12 minutes and 19 seconds, but only after prompting the wait staff to get it ready for the next party. They did apologize profusely for the delay but I think better management and allocation of duties would probably speed up the process. The food was good. I had the scramble and bottomless mimosas. This is my third time at Bits, and it is one of the best brunch places in Olympia. They do a great job balancing richness & fresh lightness. Smaller menu, no pastries (which they could totally add pies, muffins or cobblers, and do well if they chose to). Not many brunch options in Oly that aren't just standard diner breakfasts. The space is cozy, in a historic old general store, and reminds me of cafés I visited in Norway. Definitely a gem in our area! read more

Our first time here since were relatively new to the area. We got there this morning at 9 and got the second to last table. The last table against the wall would have been unusable for us because it was placed so close between two other tables, making it near-impossible to sit at. This is probably something the owners should consider more though it didn't affect us this time. We had the Special Breakfast and the Scramble, and both were really good. The sourdough bread for both was phenomenal, and the special is the exact kind of thing I always want but never find anywhere else. The latte I had was decent. Service was great!
