Very unassuming from the outside but what's inside - WOW !! Discovered this place by a search on our phone close to our motel, great thing. Cozy converted small cottage with castle quality breakfasts. Ham and eggs like Grandma used to make of my childhood. Biscuits and gravy, the best (next to my own) not the library paste with lumps of most cook shacks. Super kind waitress was very pleasant addition to a family visit/departure meal. Would highly recommend this cafe, which we will visit on our next trip to visit family there. It's tucked in, on the avenue, but well worth the search, you won't be disappointed. read more

A 12 table diner in a converted residence. My French toast meal was unremarkable, the portion of bacon a generous four slices of classic (thin) cut. Our server heated my syrup on request. My dining companions chicken fried steak & gravy was strictly off the Sysco truck and was barely warm when served. It quickly grew cold and he left half the meal on the plate. The coffee was bottomless and better than the usual diner fare. Our server was polite and attentive. We lost my mom last night and today we went and packed up her stuff and really needed a nice comfortable place to eat that was inviting and kind,we hit the jack pot! breakfast was hot and so yummy .I and my daughter had biscuits and gravy with bacon ,her's was with eggs cooked perfect and mine with hash browns cooked nice and crispy.gravy was so tasty and biscuits were soft ,hubby and father had the farmers omelet came with hashbrowns and toast of your choice and bacon or sausage they had no complaints. Came here for the first time for a teachers meeting. I had passed by here several times just never had a chance to stop in. The food is really good, I ordered the pancakes and they were delicious. The reviews were good so we gave it a try. It's just not that good. I was hoping for more of a home-cooked meal. I was disappointed that the sausage gravy came pre-made our of a jar or can. The hashbrowns were lukewarm in the middle and not crispy on the outside. The biscuits were good! Also, we asked for scrambled eggs but it came out like a plain omelet. And they only give you 1 ice cube per cup of water. The water was cold and tasted good, I just found it strange. The staff was great, attentive and polite! I tend to evaluate restaurants based on three factors (in descending importance): food, service, and ambiance. If the food's good, how's the service? If the food and service are good, is this someplace where I would want to sit and eat? Answering these questions provides the "value" of that restaurant's experience to me. Then I ask myself "would I go back or would I recommend?" Applying all of this to Pat's: Taste? Better than a lot of the places I've eaten: I ordered coffee and a breakfast plate of two eggs over medium, hash browns, bacon with two biscuits and gravy. My wife ordered coffee and a plate consisting of scrambled eggs--well done, hash browns and bacon. We both agreed that the coffee was good, the food was fresh and everything was cooked perfectly and as requested. Service? Good: We didn't wait long for our food; it was hot and the biscuits and gravy were brought on a separate plate. Our coffees were re-filled often and my wife's request for milk (instead of cream) was quickly accommodated. Ambiance? Not the greatest: While the restaurant appears very clean, it is also very old and worn. No salt or pepper shakers on the table. Instead, we received individual packets of both. Maybe that's a COVID thing--I don't know. Masks were required until we sat at our table. Value? Okay: While the portions were good, our two breakfasts with two coffees came to a little over $32. That seems a little high, but that may be just a reflection of escalating prices that all businesses are experiencing. Would I go back or recommend? Depends: Pat's opens every day (except Wednesdays) at 7 am. There is no other sit-down restaurant in the area that is open then. So, if you want an early morning, good quality breakfast at a fair price, then yes--by all means. But the food is plain, like mom used to make. The reality is that you could easily make the same breakfast at home if you had the time and inclination. read more

Despite the unattractive exterior, this place really is a hidden gem. First thing when we walked in was being greeted by Kevin with a smile while he was busy in the kitchen! I felt instantly welcomed and genuinely appreciated and noticed. Pat's Cafe is a decent size, could possibly fit a big family. The place was peaceful and quiet even with a few customers already there. They seemed to mind their manners and not be super loud and obnoxious which is awesome and I highly appreciate, maybe the homey atmosphere has a role to play in that factor. Pat's Cafe has a very strong homey feel and so does the food! The food isn't super seasoned, but the sausage and country fried steak were and they were very flavorful. The food does make you feel like you're at home with actual food people can buy at the store. Many might not appreciate that or many might find that unique. I find it very unique! Our server Lindsey seems quiet, but was very kind and friendly. Based off the reviews, I'm assuming Kevin and Lindsey are the Korean owners who are married. I know their names because I asked after our breakfast. Overall, I support this family run, home cooked business and will be returning to try more of Kevin's breakfast dishes! I've driven by this place many times. it's a nondescript little house and I was curious to see what they offered. I was going to have ham and eggs, but decided to go with the chicken fried steak...which comes with eggs, hash browns, and toast. Fulghum would have passed on the chicken fried steak (obscure literary reference). It didn't hit the mark. I should have stuck with the ham. The eggs, toast, and hash browns were right out of Denny's. As for the interior, Robert Irvine needs to give this place a total makeover. I went here for breakfast with my husband and young son. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. The nice lady sat us near the fish so my son would have something to entertain him. The food was brought out quickly for us and was very good. My husband had the corn beef hash and I had the two egg breakfast. The prices and portions were good. I took a star away because it was cold where we were seated. I gave it four stars for the food and service. I didn't smell cigarette smoke as noted by another reviewer (something I am very sensitive to). A great family owned place, good for the whole family to eat at. Reading the other reviews I guess I should have had the hamburger. But, sadly, I didn't. I ordered the beef stir fry. Not good. The beef wasn't seasoned and the dish (oil?) tasted rancid. I was glad their were very few green peppers because they didn't taste good either. It was the worst meal I have had in a while. The hash browns weren't worth eating . . . Been going to Pat's for awhile and use to enjoy it but with ownership change recently we stopped going. We gave it another shot this morning thinking that maybe with a little time for the new owners it would get better but it hasn't. Eggs and hash browns had a fishy taste too them so we didn't finish either of them, chicken fried steak was good though. This Restuarant use to be busy on Saturdays but it was a ghost town and we waiting 20 plus minutes for our food. They did have quite a few to go orders leave while we waited. Great Place for a simple breakfast. I try to come here at least once every 2 weeks. I like their Hot Links and Country Fried Steaks for breakfast. A older Korean Couple owns this place and its never very crowded on weekdays. At weekends it can get a bit crowded, but you can always find a seat. Heading there now for breakfast. read more

Visiting family in Lacey, on my Renaissance Faire trip to Oregon and Washington. I needed some breakfast, and I'd rather not go to any chain restaurant if I can avoid it. This little place obviously used to be someone's house, converted into a restaurant. And it wasn't a big house. Ran by an Asian couple, they were the only two people working the restaurant, which I gather is how it works here. I was greeted with a smile and led to a table, and brought coffee. Now, I'm not a big coffee fan, but this was pretty good, not bitter like the chain's "special blends." I ordered the country fried steak, which for me, is pretty predictable. The steak was pretty good, well seasoned, and covered in tasty gravy with lots of meat in it. Hash browns just the way I like them, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Two eggs, over medium, done just right, no runny whites. Tapatio on the table, which used sparingly because everything had such good flavor on it's own. Over all, I liked it quite a bit, and I want to go back once more before I leave Lacey, heading for another faire in Oregon. read more

Best chicken fried steak I've had since moving to the west coast from southwestern Missouri. That being said, the hash browns are so good, you'll almost forget how great the rest of your meal was!
