We had another great afternoon at Pat's. We decided on the spur of the moment to go to have an early dinner and we're lucky that it was not busy at 4pm on Sunday. We started with the house salads and seafood gumbo. For entrees, hubby got his favorite--the catfish plate with French fries and hush puppies. That is always a winner. We tried a bowl of shrimp corn soup and bbq shrimp. This was a little different than the traditional New Orleans version but it was delicious and buttery with lots of garlic. Ask for extra French bread if you order it. For dessert, the Ooey gooey cake was decadent topped with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream. After dinner we finished our drinks by sitting on the porch in the rocking chairs while watching a wedding happening at the Gazebo on the lake.

All of Pat's establishments are excellent and the rest awhile is no different. A beautiful view of Lake Ponchartrain while you enjoy dinner. The staff is attentive, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. The food is excellent as well. The seafood platter is enough for two, my wife and I usually split it with an appetizer. The charbroiled oysters are delicious, in fact I think they are better than the chimes, imho.

We love the atmosphere here, especially sitting outside on a beautiful day. We had a great experience at the bar downstairs with great, affordable drinks, but we were unable to order food so we decided to go upstairs to grab a bite to eat. We sat outside because it was a gorgeous day and decided to we wanted to try the charbroiled oysters. We ordered a full dozen to spilt between 2 of us. When we received the oysters it was nice that they split the oysters on 2 separate plates for us. The oysters were super tiny. They may have been a little overcooked which could have caused them to shrink, regardless, they should have either mentioned that the oysters are running small or not charge full price ($26). They tasted "ok", we've had better. We expect much more from a "Gallagher" restaurant. We will be back since we love the atmosphere and drinks, but we won't be getting the oysters!

We stopped here for lunch on our road trip last week. Mackenzie was our server, and she was very efficient and friendly. We had very good food with catfish, wedge salad, shrimp and corn bisque, gumbo, Caesar salad with shrimp, and several good cocktails. Our son had the gumbo which he said was good but not as good as the best he has had. Our shrimp and corn bisque was absolutely delicious. I would love to have that again. We were in the dining room, which was a very lovely room with nice windows looking out to the lake. The outside dining upstairs has a better view of the lake, but it was still very nice. We wanted to stay in the air-conditioning. This is a good place to frequent if you live close.

The place is beautiful, great outdoor views of the lakeshore and the food was great. The lobster roll special was delicious and the lobster was cooked to perfection. I can't recall his name but the guy working the outdoor bar at ground level was extremely personable and gave great recommendations before we headed inside for our reservation. We will definitely be back!

Pat's Rest Awhile is in a great location on the Mandeville lakefront. We went for dinner on a Friday night and were seated immediately. Ordered an appetizer from the specials, the fried crab claws, and they were delicious. For my entree, ordered the cedar plank gulf fish which I believe was the red drum. The fish was tender and the sauce and green beans were tasty! The tiger-rita was pretty (top yellow and bottom purple) and refreshing! I will definitely be back to explore the cocktail and food menu!

This is my favorite spot on the Mandeville lakefront. The food here is spectacular, the drinks are good, the service is prompt and polite, and you can't beat the view. From casual drinks on a Saturday afternoon to a quiet night just having dinner, this place checks all the boxes.

Very nice restaurant with views of the lake on second floor. We enjoyed the Caesar salad with a cup of bisque. I had the frog legs that were good, not a lot of flavor but helped by a nice remoulade. We topped it off with a half dozen jalapeño bacon grilled oysters. They were really good. Great service and a nice outdoor experience.

Some of the best charbroiled oysters around! The bbq shrimp and shrimp platter were good - nothing spectacular, and the service was good as well. This is the perfect place to relax outside on the spacious patio when the weather is good. The view of the lake is just perfect!

Service was great even though the restaurant was super busy. We ordered off of the Tammany Tase of Summer menu. I got the shrimp jalapeño popper soup, the gulf fish almondine, and the ooey gooey cake. The gulf fish was delicious; the fish was fresh, and the butter sauce was super flavorful. My soup was good. However, I couldn't taste the jalapeño, and it didn't taste very different from regular shrimp & corn bisque. The ooey gooey cake almost reminded me of a bread pudding. I loved that it was served warm. As far as the drink goes, I was slightly disappointed in my spritz because it was definitely watered down. My girlfriends and I could tell there wasn't much alcohol despite the description. Overall, it was a nice evening together.

Lakefront-historic-scenic-local-fun-and excellent cuisine...all in one two story building. It's not just a tourist spot, lots of locals are here enjoying the entire scene! Great service from Adrianna, even on this sunny busy day on the patio!

    Friday $5 Martini Specials

Went to Pat's for lunch last Friday to use a gift card we had gotten last Christmas. The food and service were spot on! I ordered the fish Almondine which was pompano. It was fabulous! It came topped with crabmeat and just enough almonds for crunch! It was buttery without being oily and cooked to perfection! My husband had the skirt steak and fries. He was not a fan of the marinade they used (it was heavy on the Worcestershire sauce) I thought it was fine. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu items. They had a seasonal drink menu, but I went with a $5 martini special. The ambience is very nice, but it was just a bit chilly. All in all a spectacular meal.

My wife and I decided to grab lunch in historic Mandeville today, and rolled by this bar on our way home so we decided to stop in for a quick drink. And we're glad we did. Let me start off by saying that California has a "dive bar" culture. Despite what most people see on TV about the glamorous night life in Los Angeles, that's not 99% of SoCal. And to be perfectly honest, I think it's kind of funny how bougie the north shore pretends to be. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of nice and seemingly upscale establishments to visit around here so I'm not trying to offend anyone. But sometimes you just want to grab a drink in a place that's not full of pretentious people who are trying too hard. We all live in a glorified swamp, people. Accept it. Very simply: a good pour, good music, friendly patrons, and good service. That's really all that matters. And the best part is that this place doesn't have the weird hours that a lot of the places around here do. Seriously, who's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays? Do better, North Shore. Jokes aside, this is a cool, chill little bar in a great part of town.

I pass this bar nearly every day and have always wondered how it was, but never stopped in. I was a tad overdressed since I was coming from La Provence, but I didn't care. The bar is pretty well lit for a dive. They could probably have turned out 3/4 of the lights to make it more divey. There was a pool table and a very long shuffleboard table. Shuffleboard in bars is an excellent concept. I never had been to a bar in Nola with shuffleboard, but this is the second Northshore bar with a table that I know of. The bar is very long and lined with bar stools. Above the bar there were four TVs all tuned to sports. The area next to the shuffleboard table has around 10 or so tables and chairs which was a nice place to sit and drink. There is also an area for a band, but there wasn't a show last night. The crowd was mixed. I was the best dressed, but it ran the gamut from young tattooed service industry folks to old dudes wearing LSU gear. The bartender was young, attractive and friendly. I ordered poorly (Fancy Lawnmower-nasty), but they did have a decent selection of other drafts (maybe 4-5). There was a Guinness draft sign, but I did not confirm that they had an actual draft. In summary, interference is a sports themed dive. It was too bright, but I'll be back.
