Went here for lunch with friends and the vibes are similar to Blue Crab on Lakefront. We were seated immediately and our server was attentive. We started with the onion rings which were good and the remoulade sauce serves with it was delicious . For my entree I had the crabcake sandwich which was flavored well and the crab cake was not too bready which is how I like it except that due to the lack of filler fell apart quickly and I ended up finishing with fork so didn't work well as a sandwich. I would definitely get the crabcake again but on its own because it was messy as a sandwich. Someone else in my party got the Cobb salad sans blue cheese and while I didnt try it I would love to try on another visit. read more

This restaurant is off the beaten path. You're not going to just pass here while out driving around. But there's a reason for that: boat access! Yes, this is one of the few restaurants in Slidell you can get to by boat. They have a boardwalk with places to tie up boats, and there's actually a boat launch and bait shop on the other side of the parking lot. There are also a couple of beach volleyball courts. There restaurant has an outdoor bar and plenty of outdoor seating. The interior has plenty of large windows overlooking the water which would make for a nice view during the daytime. The interior was maybe slightly noisier than average, but I don't know if that was because of design acoustics or just because of how crowded it was when I went. The food was really good. The bowl of seafood gumbo I had was maybe slightly stingy on the shrimp, but it was very tasty. The cheese biscuits I got were also good. Everyone at my table was pleased with their food. Between inflation and the pandemic it's hard to judge food prices these days, but I'd say they were maybe slightly above average? Overall, I think place has a lot going for it and hope it makes it. read more

First time at this spot and it was really great. The view was great and it doesn't matter where you sit, there is a view of the water is beautiful and the natural light in the restaurant is great! The restaurant was exceptionally clean and the service was outstanding. Our server, Sarah was very attentive and friendly. The food was very scrumptious. Really fresh and savory. The shrimp was very delicious with that Buffalo sauce and it was nice and golden. I also had the chargrilled oysters, which was some of the best I've ever had. Very flavorsome, even my husband who doesn't eat them enjoyed the one I gave him . My husband had the fried fish platter, which was also golden and tasty. Had chargrilled oysters as appetizer. Lots of shell, under cooked, and under seasoned. Overpriced! Blue crab pasta was cold and very bland, lots of crab shells and the spinach in it had a funky taste. 2 biscuits served on plate and they were hard, cold and old tasting. Inedible. This was a Mkt dish and very pricey!! Stuffed crabs..VERY small crab bodies, so very little crab stuffing in them for an entree. French fries covered most of the plate (no hush puppies) and another very old tasting biscuit. Again, very pricey for what was served. Service was very slow, hush puppies were brunt on the outside and uncooked on the inside, the dishes and utensils were dirty. I ordered the Craberita drink, it was extremely sour. I asked to have more sweetener added to the drink but it was still sour after having been corrected. I've been wanting to try this spot for a couple of years and finally had the opportunity. I started off with a dozen oysters on the half shell which were excellent! I also had a shrimp poboy that unfortunately was not as good. The shrimp were VERY small and the breading on the shrimp would fall off because the shrimp were so small. Not only were they small but lacked flavor as well. My Dad had gumbo that he said was ok and a catfish platter that he said was good but could have used a bit more seasoning. The location is very nice with great water views and lots of boats cruising by. The service was very good as well. Overall it was OK. I would give them another try but would not order the same thing. read more

Maybe they just had an off day. Our waitress especially. It's been my experience that when a customer asks specific questions specific details should be given in response. A bit more information on the product ingredients could have thwarted the discomfort we experienced. Know exactly what is in your Margarita "Mix" before stating it's made with fresh squeezed lime juice. She either neglected to tell us that in their mix they had simple syrup or was just simply unaware of it. Either way, we should never have been made to feel that we were at fault for the mishap. Classic. The Blue Crab has a casual, homey vibe that is in no way trashy. Tucked into a quiet, waterfront neighborhood the atmosphere is very chill without sacrificing great service. The wait staff is on point, friendly and attentive without being annoying. The chargrilled oysters were elegant- clean and not over charred. The raw were the biggest, cleanest oysters we've ever been served on the gulf coast. The boiled crab had great flavor, but a little bit too much work for my liking. The gumbo- light and flavorful, loaded with crab and shrimp without the gravy texture that ruins it in too many places. If I grasp for something harsh to say it would top out on the biscuits not being great; slightly under cooked but with they are also unnecessary with all the other phenomenal food. The restaurant sits on the lake & has windows that looks out on it. It also has a nice size outdoor area. The blue crab dip had a nice flavor to it, it also had some corn in it. The pasta had a rich flavor to it & it was very cheesy. The food tasted fresh but it wasn't super hot how I would've liked it. It was just warm. While eating both dishes I found that there were small pieces of crab shells in it, so just something to keep in mind. I didn't feel uncomfortably stuffed, which let me know that the quality of the food was great. I would revisit in the future, I just wouldn't rush to do so. It was decently good. His oysters are always fresh, without shells, and perfect. We eat a lot of oysters from a lot of different restaurants, but we always end up back at The Blue Crab to see Rex. The short story is that I had dinner at the Blue Crab in Slidell, and it was not worth the time and money I put into it. This is the unfortunate and expensive story of what happens when a careless kitchen and a stereo typical millennial server and an uncaring restaurant manager bring down a perfectly decent afternoon. A friend and I had dinner at the Blue Crab just after 2 pm on Sunday. The server, Gregory, came to our table and asked how we were doing. I answered with my standard upbeat line, "I am doing so good that I can hardly stand it, and, I'm improving." Gregory, who did not seem overly bright, looked at me in a perplexed way. No problem, some youngsters just do not know how to engage in polite conversation. I had found yet another. Gregory, ever serious, has yet to break a smile. Gregory pressured us to order, as if we were taking up valuable space in his restaurant. Hey, I was still okay, accepting Gregory's lack of social skills. I ordered a shrimp platter, asking if there was any alternative to the standard French fries. He said yes and I asked what the alternatives would be. Instead of telling me the options, he pointed at the menu for me to read and decide. No big deal, I had already accepted that Gregory is a pet rock. No pleasant tone, no smile, nothing positive. I ordered sweet potato fries and asked him to bring ranch with them. The fries arrived shortly, but were soggy. And poor Gregory had forgotten about the ranch. Ok, soggy fries happen. I'm still alright. That's when I noticed that the shrimp, which were sizable, were less than half peeled. I'll include a picture. I usually eat the tails, but the tail and three segments of shell is a bit much. If you peel these shrimp, you'd have to sacrifice the batter. Sad. I asked again for some ranch dressing, thinking that the soggy fries could be salvaged. I was way past optimistic. The ranch finally arrived but I was disgusted. I could tell you nothing redeeming about my dining experience so far. To be fair, the beer was cold, served without a glass. The bill came. A man who might have been the manager asked how everything tasted. My guest complained about the quality of the food and the manager boldly said that that had never happened before. Why inquire as to the quality of someone's dining experience if you are not ready to except an honest answer? I declined to give a negative reply. My bad. I was disappointed and disgusted. The bill was just under $62. Far too much for poor food and terrible service. I won't be returning. As for young Gregory, he needs a mentor. And, Gregory, if you read this, smile. And be chatty. Although, there is no behavior which can compensate a dining guest for poorly prepared food from the kitchen. read more
