Came here for lunch on a Thursday. I was recommended to try the Aussie pies but ultimately decided to try one Aussie pie (pepper steak) and one Jamaican patty (jerk chicken). The Aussie pie was about $2 more, but I do think it was a higher quality item. The crust was flaky and buttery, and the filling was extremely flavorful. The Jamaican patty was yummy and unique as well but is definitely simpler, and the pastry is a bit more sweet and dough-y. When I come back, I definitely plan to try more of the pies! read more

I got the spicy beef patty and it came with two dipping sauces! The crust was nice and crispy at the edges but also flaky in the middle! Was super excited to eat so I just stood in front of the Last Bookstore to enjoy my piping hot patty :) I ended up reheating half of it two days later and it was still crunchy! It was decently spicy and quite filling! While the parking situation is always a hot mess in DTLA, I would recommend walking or utilizing public transit to get here. I had 9 minutes to catch my bus. I ran to the window and knocked on it to place my order. I let him know I HAD to catch that bus. He looked at me and said "I got you". He got down my order and bam, before I knew it I had a warm jerk chicken patty ready to go. He even threw in the last cookie they had on the house. Wow, now that's what you call service! A simple grab and go window with tasty filled pastries. A nice alternative to tacos for a grab and go meal in downtown. A pattie is like a turnover with meat or other filling, the flavors are solid and the pastry is flaky and not too greasy. There is a also an accompanying sauce that is savory. I can't speak highly enough.. the food is consistently fresh, delicious, and the owner and employees are some of the most lovely and genuine people I've ever met. They deserve to be one of the most popular grab-and-go spots in LA. Their patties have become one of my top comfort foods this year. They're so flavorful and flaky, reasonably-priced, and perfect snack to enjoy as you explore downtown. They're just as good if you reheat them in the microwave later. My favorites are the chicken, spicy beef, and pumpkin, but thanks to the generosity of the incredible owner, I've been able to try all of the flavors because he'll usually throw in a free one! All of them have been delicious. You also can't go without trying their desserts, fresh-made beverages, or a Pink Ting. In short: I love this place and I love the people! The colorful storefront is in the cut, and you order through a small window. Toward the end of the day, expect them to be out of really popular items. Tried the Jerk Chicken + Spicy Beef Patties and these were clearly prepared with love and care. My 2 year old daughter and I were at an event next door yesterday, i brought her outside to get her some fresh air and we ended up in front of this place. The guy working (could be the owner I'm not too sure) he saw us squatting outside and handed my daughter a delicious treat, came back gave her an apple juice and then went as far as bringing the chair he was sitting on and brought it outside for me and her to sit on. I mean!! I have never seen such a generous act. Just so sweet! So my boyfriend came out of the event and we ended up buying two banana puddings from here and they were the best we've ever had. Tasty patties but they make it very hard to support black business. Please do NOT order from them on any delivery app!! They do not care about correctness of your order and will send you what they want! On multiple occasions I have had items missing from my order. For my latest. I received no coco breads, the wrong drink AND the wrong dessert. They will not contact you nor cancel the items from the order knowing they are sold out. They will just take your money and have you hash it out with the delivery provider yourself. Very poor customer service and it's sucks because this is one of the few patty shops available in LA that are authentic. read more
