I never knew I passed Anko so many times; the telltale sign was driving and seeing the big ATELIER sign on top. Parking is a tad difficult here, as it's mostly street parking. Thankfully, I had parked and was on the go. I visited with a friend who ordered a Brown Sugar Miso Latte, and this one was SUPER sweet. I had an Iced Latte for myself. The espresso is pushes the edge of boldness, catching a taste just before a hint of bitterness - strong indeed! The creaminess of the milk indeed improves the texture. There are a variety of seating options, and the high tables are a tad skinny - fits a laptop but not a notebook, too, comfortably. It definitely errs on the minimalist side both in decor and coffee. This is based strictly on their shaved ice, and it is definitely 5 star worthy. We got the strawberry shaved ice, and it was SO GOOD. I mean, how good can shaved ice be, but they make it so tasty and even inside there are chunks of strawberries and the ice just melts in your mouth. I'm scared how many calories there are in that bowl, but trust me, it is worth the calories. I'd love to go back and try other items. I'm a sucker for a good boonguhpang (taiyaki), and theirs looks bomb. The space was packed when we got there on Sat afternoon. It is very airy and bright, simple decor. Also it is loud. Since it was crowded in the store when we were there, but also the acoustics of the place is conducive to ringing and echoing. Probably since they have concrete floor too. There were people studying in the communal table though, I guess it wasn't too loud for them. Also, it does take some time to get the order. Stopped by because of a pop up and I enjoyed coming into this space. My friend and I were the first ones to enter and was welcomed by kind and friendly staff. I ordered the matcha and the taiyaki and they were both as equally as delicious. The matcha was creamy and earthy with the perfect amount of sweet. The taiyaki was fresh, made to order and crispy. I ordered both red bean and lemon custard flavor and I loved it! The space is small but there is plenty of seats if you order on time. This location is never busy so to see so many people and so busy, I was happy to see this small business booming! this place has been on my list of desserts to try and i had a chance to swing by during their knemo beauty x anko pop up!! i tried the red bean taiyaki, custard taiyaki, and best of both worlds (red bean & custard together) and the custard was my favorite!! both flavors also complimented each other. the taiyaki is so soft and creamy inside. i also tried the knemo exclusive blue drink which was butterfly pea cream top & matcha, and it was soo good it was the perfect amount of matcha and the butterfly pea cream added the slightest taste of floral that was barely noticeable and complimented the matcha a lot!! they had a photobooth for the pop up and gave out bag charms and lip jellies with the purchase of taiyaki & the blue drink. such an amazing collaboration. i was able to find street parking easily across the street! the staff were so kind and funny despite how busy it was. it's also so pretty inside!! i'd definitely come here again to try the other desserts. read more

Anko is such a cute dessert spot! Their shaved ices are perfectly perfected to melt in your mouth with great flavor. We have a whole lot of coffee shops in KTown and a whole lot of dessert spots, too. Anko stands out a bit among the rest though, despite it's near mirror image minimalist chic wood look inside & unassuming shop from the outside. They have great coffees, matcha drinks and but what makes Anko special is their dessert. Truly their bingsoo is a great size and may just be the best there is in Koreatown. Perfect level of sweetness dissipating along with the gentle flakes of the shaved iced. You'll find it's a bit sweeter here than other shops (while still staying mild) as they seem to use a bit more condensed milk compared to other patbingsu spots. I know they have taiyaki, as well, but I am usually just ordering the Black Sesame Bingsoo when I dine here. I've done the Black Sesame the most but also love the mango, matcha, add some red bean...it's just good bingsu here. We ordered the houjicha marron shaved ice. The hojicha was very fragrant and the shaved ice wasn't too sweet. It came with a side of their condensed milk for you to add if you wanted it more sweet. Looking for dessert while in the area and thought I would give this spot a try. I ordered the Taiyaki with custard and red beans. They are a lot bigger than I was expecting and too much food for just two people. I preferred the custard version as I wasn't a big fan of the texture of the red beans. I also ordered their brown sugar cloud latte which sounded intriguing but was a bit too sweet for me. Went on a Sunday at 3 pm, which is apparently the wrong time to visit as the place was packed and the wait took close to 30 minutes. The employee did warn me as I was ordering about the wait time so I appreciated that. Interior is clean and airy with lots of seating. If you're looking for the softest, most melt in your mouth, shaved ice experience, this small family run shop on the corner of the street is where it's at. Currently, they have a few options on the menu, including Matcha Hojicha, and Mango. They also have a large array of drinks, and I tried their matcha cloud today. Service is phenomenal and the owner of the shop is a middle-aged lady who often brings the order to your table once you're seated. I was also helped by a young man who was very courteous and help me adjust the sugar level in my drink to zero per my preference. Interior of the café is cute and airy, with lots of sunlight and little tables. There's also some countertop seating and a larger table in the middle for multiple groups or one big group. The best taiyaki and bingsoo I've ever had. Worlds better than somi somi LOL The taiyaki was fresh to order and was so crispy. It was almost like a mochi. The cheese taiyaki was similar to a Brazilian cheese ball (Pão de queijo) and the Nutella banana was perfectly sweet. The taiyaki was a 9.7/10 and the bingsoo was 8.3/10. Cute little bingsoo shopped tucked in the corner of Ktown. Parking is somewhat difficult because of KTown but there I was able to find a curb spot on a random afternoon weekday just down the road. The inside is clean and modern, with one giant table in the middle where people was working on their laptops and some other small side tables/chairs for small groups. My party and I got the mango bingsoo and taiyaki. The texture of the bingsoo was perfectly light and fluffy (not icy) goods with some fresh mangos, mango puree with a side of condensed milk that you can feel free to drizzle on yourself. We opted for taiyaki with half red bean filling and half custard (other options include Nutella, cheese, and banana). You can tell they were made fresh because the outer bready layer was piping hot when it came out in the tray and the red bean filling and custard were steaming and also warm and gooey when you bit into it. 5/5 experience - I was very impressed with my experience today! The desserts (bingsoo and Taiyaki) were both phenomenal, both some of the best that I have tried. The taiyaki especially stood out for me as they were especially chewy, almost mochi like, and could taste and see the beans themselves in the red bean filling. They were probably the best taiyaki my partner and I ever had - so fresh, too. The drinks were also very good and the cloud latte had a tiramisu taste to it, but we did wish that the cloud matcha had a stronger matcha taste to it. The service was nice and ambiance was very clean and reminescent of cafes we've been to Korea. It was also not too crowded or busy on a Sunday afternoon, which made it a peaceful and enjoyable experience.
