Street parking can be a little difficult, but they do have a parking lot in the back, which makes it much easier. We ordered the Houjicha Marron Shaved Ice and the Iced Brown Sugar Miso Latte. The barista was super helpful with explaining what each drink was, didn't steer us in any direction though. The Houjicha shaved ice was the standout. Houjicha is a toasted green tea, and the flavor is a little difficult to describe--it has a warm, grainy, almost wheat-like taste that's very different from traditional green tea. At first, it can seem like an unusual flavor, but don't give up on it. Once you add the syrup they serve on the side and keep eating, it really grows on you. It somehow gets better with every bite, and before you know it, you can't stop eating it. The Iced Brown Sugar Miso Latte wasn't exactly what I was in the mood for, but it was still well made. It had a nice balance of umami and sweetness without either flavor overpowering the other. While it wasn't my personal favorite, I'd still recommend it if you're looking to try something a little different. I'm scared how many calories there are in that bowl, but trust me, it is worth the calories. I'd love to go back and try other items. I'm a sucker for a good boonguhpang (taiyaki), and theirs looks bomb. The space was packed when we got there on Sat afternoon. It is very airy and bright, simple decor. Also it is loud. Stopped by because of a pop up and I enjoyed coming into this space. My friend and I were the first ones to enter and was welcomed by kind and friendly staff. Paid almost $9 for the matcha cloud and did not think it met my standard for a $9 drink. The drink came in a small cup. It was hard to taste any matcha since the drink was mostly diluted with milk. We have a whole lot of coffee shops in KTown and a whole lot of dessert spots, too. Anko stands out a bit among the rest though, despite it's near mirror image minimalist chic wood look inside & unassuming shop from the outside. They have great coffees, matcha drinks and but what makes Anko special is their dessert. Truly their bingsoo is a great size and may just be the best there is in Koreatown. Perfect level of sweetness dissipating along with the gentle flakes of the shaved iced. You'll find it's a bit sweeter here than other shops (while still staying mild) as they seem to use a bit more condensed milk compared to other patbingsu spots. I know they have taiyaki, as well, but I am usually just ordering the Black Sesame Bingsoo when I dine here. I've done the Black Sesame the most but also love the mango, matcha, add some red bean...it's just good bingsu here. If you're looking for the softest, most melt in your mouth, shaved ice experience, this small family run shop on the corner of the street is where it's at. Currently, they have a few options on the menu, including Matcha Hojicha, and Mango. They also have a large array of drinks, and I tried their matcha cloud today. Service is phenomenal and the owner of the shop is a middle-aged lady who often brings the order to your table once you're seated. I was also helped by a young man who was very courteous and help me adjust the sugar level in my drink to zero per my preference. Interior of the café is cute and airy, with lots of sunlight and little tables. There's also some countertop seating and a larger table in the middle for multiple groups or one big group. Cute little bingsoo shopped tucked in the corner of Ktown. Parking is somewhat difficult because of KTown but there I was able to find a curb spot on a random afternoon weekday just down the road. My party and I got the mango bingsoo and taiyaki. The texture of the bingsoo was perfectly light and fluffy (not icy) goods with some fresh mangos, mango puree with a side of condensed milk that you can feel free to drizzle on yourself. We opted for taiyaki with half red bean filling and half custard (other options include Nutella, cheese, and banana). You can tell they were made fresh because the outer bready layer was piping hot when it came out in the tray and the red bean filling and custard were steaming and also warm and gooey when you bit into it. They are a lot bigger than I was expecting and too much food for just two people. I preferred the custard version as I wasn't a big fan of the texture of the red beans. I also ordered their brown sugar cloud latte which sounded intriguing but was a bit too sweet for me. Went on a Sunday at 3 pm, which is apparently the wrong time to visit as the place was packed and the wait took close to 30 minutes. The employee did warn me as I was ordering about the wait time so I appreciated that. Interior is clean and airy with lots of seating. Returned after a couple of years but things have changed. No more black sesame. No more mochi. The shaved ice consistency is different. The best taiyaki and bingsoo I've ever had. Worlds better than somi somi LOL The taiyaki was fresh to order and was so crispy. It was almost like a mochi. The cheese taiyaki was similar to a Brazilian cheese ball (Pão de queijo) and the Nutella banana was perfectly sweet. The taiyaki was a 9.7/10 and the bingsoo was 8.3/10. The bingsoo was refreshing and soft! Will definitely come back again!! They also have wifi but not a lot of parking.
