**INITIAL REVIEW** As of this review, there are three kava bars located in south Brevard county, specifically in Palm Bay, FL: Kraken Kava Bar, Nocturne Teas, and Kalea Kava Bar. To further expand my kava horizons, I decided to go north and check out the other kava bars in my county. Simply because this kava bar is also owned by the same people who own Kraken Kava, I wanted to check out Pau Hana first. I will say their kava is a little better than the average, especially compared to certain locales in Historic Downtown Melbourne, but what I love the most is the ambiance and the fact I made some new kava community friends here, too. Though an address is provided, Pau Hana is located in Metro West, the strip mall that also home to the iconic card, board, and tabletop game store, Get Your Fun On, and the best sushi restaurant in all of Brevard County, Umami. Pau Hana is along the eastside of the strip mall just south of the gym. Just like most kava bars I have been to, it is a small-ish space, but what stood out first was the ambiance. Since kava originates from Pacific island nations, especially its believed origin of Vanuatu, many kava bars seem to opt for a stereotypical pacific islander vibe. Pau Hana, though the name is Hawaiian for "Finished Word," the interior seems more like a secret garden. The interior has flora arrangements, flowered vines, and a color scheme that matches the aforementioned secret garden theme, but it is not overly stereotypical of Pacific Island nations. There are also swinging chairs hanging from the ceiling, which I am unsure require a weight limit notice. I assume anyone can sit, but if you weigh more than 350 pounds, you may want to reconsider any thoughts on sitting in those said chairs. There is also a pool table in the back for those who would enjoy a game of 8-Ball, 9-Ball, One Pocket, or Cutthroat. I loved the drink menu they provided here, especially the kava mocktails. The two I had during my visits were the Horchata Kava and the Dirty Chai. The former is a kava mocktail that consists with your choice kava, oatmilk, cinnamon, vanilla and a garnish of a vanilla stick. The latter is your choice of kava, chai tea, vanilla, and your choice of creamer. I had it once with Irish cream and another time with hazelnut. Both were good. And speaking of kava mocktails, I have to give my regards to Eloise as she's been the kavatender every time I been to Pau Hana. Does an excellent job making my cocktails, but doesn't really have time to converse as every time I am there, the bar is somewhat packed. Ultimately, I am going to give Pau Hana a four-out-of-five star rating for its ambiance, its menu, and the fact my circile of kava community friends grew there. If the bar continues to be consistent in their service, environment, and menu, I will grant them their fifth star in an updated review. read more

Stopped by Pau Hana and had such a great experience! Upon arrival, I noticed there was live music performing on a small stage in the corner, which added the perfect vibe. There's also a pool table and some fun swinging chairs near the entrance that make the place super inviting. Eloise was my Kava tender and she was the absolute sweetest--super welcoming and kind. I tried 2x Original Kava Shells and 1x Kava Chai, and everything was smooth, balanced, and relaxing. Eloise made the whole experience even better with her friendly energy and helpful recommendations. I've become more of a connoisseur of kava and kratom products lately thanks to my wonderful companion. This location has a great laidback atmosphere. Great selection of board games, a pool table with plenty of room around it, and weekly gatherings for trivia or bingo. Last night I had kava tender Paul and this afternoon is Derek. Great service! Their kratom and kava are really good here. They have a great selection of mocktails that go great with them too. I recommend the b-day banana lolo kava shot and passion roots kratom tea. If you're not into those products, they have other teas and coffee too. Now, it's time to chillllll! read more

My first time here! I was welcomed by very friendly (and educational) service. Savanna is a sweet soul. I enjoyed uplifting Caribbean music while surrounded by the natural colors, some artwork and Scooby Doo on the flatscreen. There are many flavor options on the menu to satisfy almost anyone. As a kava bar regular for about 10 years, I've been to my share of bars, but yesterday's visit was my first to pau Hana as I was passing through town. Derrick was the bartender on shift when I got there. I've gotten the "shpeil" about 100 times from bartenders at different bars. If I've never been to that bar, I always tell them "yes I know about kava and kratom but I've never been here before". Because I like to experience something new every now and again, and every bartender always offers something different, and I can usually learn something. Derrick was above and beyond 99% of kavatenders I've ever experienced. Dude knew his stuff, he was EDUCATED. and he cared about his job so much, i honestly thought he may have been an owner. I had been driving for hours, and was given every option. I told him (due to no fault of his own), I was a bit overwhelmed with choices. (Usually I'd love that, but not that day!) he said he'd make it really easy for me, and he did. Narrowed it down to 2 options based on questions he *asked* me- not his own agenda or opinion like a lot of others. He gave me a sample tea, and wow. Again, I've been to my fair share of bars, occasionally I'll drink extract, but a white tea usually does it for me though. I got a little measley sample cup, I wasn't expecting to feel anything. But wow. This tea was STRONG. It was phenomenal. When I left i actually called 3 friends to tell them to venture out a few hours to pau hana for it. I woke up the next day (today) still thinking about it, wishing I got a second one. Can't get one but I can leave a review! So so good. Kava was pretty okay too, but it wouldn't be the reason I went back. Place is super cute vibes also. Also they did a shift change as I was cashing out, and the guy who hopped on was Paul, he was extremely helpful also. Service- 20/10. Pau Hana is the only kava bar I will frequent. Callie was my kava tender during my first visit, I didn't know much about kava or Kratom and she was patient and helpful. All the other tenders are so personable here as well and they make me feel like I am a part of a community bigger than I am. The place has a very original setup with sick hawaiian twist. Let me start by saying I have been in the kava and kratom community for over 5 years, I am close with several of the local kava community, and I know several bar owners in Brevard County. When I found Pau Hana about a year ago, the welcoming atmosphere, great people, high-quality drinks, and excellent customer service stood out compared to the norm. Tyler, the owner, has given to and cared for everyone in the community. I started a small business selling baked goods with a friend of mine, and Tyler worked with us intimately to grow our business, expose our brand, and get our products off the ground. I highly recommend anyone looking for a place to hangout, a welcoming kava family, or excellent tea/kava, to come to Pau Hana. With several events throughout the week such as Trivia, open mic night, billiards, etc., there's always something to lift your spirits. Okay Tyler I'm coming right back at you because I want you to post the video footage! 1) Ant and I were on separate tabs, he got the first round, I got the second, and he got the 3rd of single LOLOS. 2) I had one bag of chips which I was rang up for (3) check videos again!! 3) I will never be called a scammer by a bartender when I'm spending good $$ at a bar, and bringing in active customers!! 4) Ask Cali again about how we were on SEPERATE tabs, that video footage does not show anything without audio. 5) thanks for affirming I cannot come back, this is not the first time I've had issues with this bar. I have ordered door dash countless times only to have to pick up my drinks that were left out or mishandled. The management at Pau Hana is very poor, and I do not recommend them. As a regular here, I can say this is my favorite go-to kava bar. I have travelled all over the state of Florida and visited over 15 kava bars across the state and even 2 in the Midwest. I can say out of all of them, Pau Hana has made me feel the most at home as a customer and as basically family. Their professionalism that is shown between the owner and the kava tenders is immaculate. They are always happy to take care of others and they play a crucial role in promoting a healthy atmosphere in the kava and botanical tea community. If I could give them a 10/5 I surely would because the service continues to get better every I come. I will say if you are new and curious to come here, don't be nervous. They always try to make new customers feel at home and welcome all with open arms.
