We have wanted to try this place for awhile now and we are so happy we did! I ordered the Spanish chorizo. It was very good. I wish I had purchased sauce to go with it as the sausage wasn't as spicy as I would have liked nor the omelette as moist but it was still delicious. My side was the fried plantains which you can't ever go wrong with and to drink, an iced caramel cafe con leche. The drink was strong and tasted very good. For $5 that was a decent drink. My husband had the Big Cuban and wanted to go back a different day soon after to get it again. We didn't because financially it would have been a poor decision for price and gas but still that says something! We will definitely be back when we are in the area. Experience: It was 10:00 on a Tuesday and we stopped in for breakfast. Facility: this is located in a strip mall and you might miss it if you're not paying attention. It's a small place inside with tables and chairs and could maybe fit 30 people. You order at the counter and they bring it out to you. Service: it was great, and Gia was so nice! They were very patient and accommodating to our requests. And also patient as it was our first time and tough to choose what to try. Food came out fairly quick and was fresh and hot. Food: Amazing! We loved the torta type omelettes filled with veggies and meat. We ordered the ham omelette with maduros (sweet cooked plantains. I lived in the Caribbean for 10 years and these were the best maduros I ever ate. They were so yummy crunchy caramelized on the outside and sweet and soft in the middle. Just perfect! I ordered the vegetarian omelette but added sausage and cheese. LOL! It was soooo good. Then I ordered grits on the side... they were so creamy and tasted just like sweet corn. The Big Cuban was good, except for the mojo provided it tasted like it came out of a bottle and the toast was so hard, inedible. The Picadillo was NOT Cuban. It tasted like Mexican Picadillo. They have all the favorites I am used to. I started with a Cuban, a media noche and an order of guava pastries and quesitos. The empanadas were also super delicious and made the Cuban way (raisins). The media noches was too die for. Super delicious soft sweet bread really gets the ride to flavor town going. The Cuban sandwich will have you doing backflips. It is the size of a teenage child's head so bring your appetite. I'm not even going to describe what delight the quesitos were but let's say the crumbs on your shirt are a fashion statement as the taste of this brings flash back to Abuela's on a Sunday morning. Small location with indoor seating available. Looks clean. We placed a to go order. We ordered ropa vieja with white rice and sweet plantains for my husband. The dish comes with two sides for $14.99. I chose to try their pork sandwich or pan con lechon for $11.00. Service was good and quick. Waited about 5 minutes. I was surprise to see how big the pork sandwich was, literally 4 pieces and plenty of pork, and tasty too, like Lucy said. Will need to go back to dine inside and I will update my review. Small Cuban restaurant in a strip mall next to a dollar store. Less than 10 tables but there were spots available, although the place was busy for lunch. At the counter, ordered a Grilled chicken sandwich, fried masitas (pork chunks), and the Pechuga de Pollo (grilled chicken). Sandwiches are served a la carte so we ordered a side of fries. Rice and beans and fried plantains came with the chicken and pork. Food came out one plate at a time I'm guessing due to a small kitchen. The food was average, and living in Miami my standards for Cuban food is higher than most in this particular area according to the reviews I'm seeing. Chicken sandwich was decent but a bit too much cheese for my taste. The pork and chicken were a bit lacking in taste, although not terrible. There were a stream of people ordering at the counter the whole time I was here...very busy. Such a delicious and decadent coffee with a hint of sweet! They just started serving sangrias and mimosas. I tried the sangria and it was also very pleasant, 10/10. [Cubano]: 8/10. From the outside you wouldn't think there is much seating, but the interior fits a good amount of tables. Coffee and food come out quick so tables turn over to make room for everyone. When I got my coffee with my breakfast I got it ... coffee was pretty darned good. I understood why when I saw that a very large American coffee to go was only $3! Why pay $8 "somewhere" else. ;) My daughter had a Cuban coffee and said it was good. Think strong, plain Italian Espresso but more potent. My daughter had the American breakfast and I had a Spanish omelet. We both had a side of cheesy grits ... hers with bacon, mine without. I have lived in the South now for 45 years so I have become a grits lover. I never met I grit I didn't like LOL. STOP right there!! I have never tasted grits like these before, ever, anywhere. They were sweet, they were pureed, they were GREAT! Think more like whipped creamed corn without the lumps. While I would never categorize them as "Southern" grits they were absolutely delicious! I don't care if you are a grits hater ... you're gonna like these. Don't pass 'em by. :) The breakfasts were good. The breakfast Americano was above average and my omelet was tasty. Place was nice and clean. Staff was smiling and friendly and made us feel welcome. That's what you get at a family owned and operated restaurant. The sides are several different types of beans and we opted for the brown ones with the chorizo in it and yellow rice which was outstanding. The Cuban sandwich was super juicy and loaded with pulled pork. I would probably get extra pickle if I ordered it again. The vibe of the place is very family friendly and a excellent beyond friendly staff works there. I didn't try any of the coffees or breakfasts but when I come back again I'll try some more dishes. The slice of Cuban bread was a delight. What kept this restaurant from my giving it the full 5 stars was the potatoes. They were cheap and not good. Came here for last minute breakfast. The only meat options they have are ham and steak I don't eat pork and they have no turkey so I had to substitute for potatoes because I feel steak for breakfast wasn't for me. Orange juice was good, coffee was terrible like the machine wasn't cleaned properly. Service was good just felt very rushed. Very cramped in the store but nice seating area. The only problem that bothered me was they charged me $3.00 to add potatoes to my sandwich because I don't eat pork which is fine but they literally put like 2 potatoes in the Sandwhich. When I called to complain about it I was told "well that's what you ordered we had to charge it as a side" I never said I had a problem with the charge I had a problem with the amount. If I'm being charged I expect potatoes in my sandwich and as you can clearly see in other peoples pictures their side of potatoes has way more than 2-3 potatoes. If you don't eat pork or ham good luck trying to get something you'd actually enjoy eating because the sandwhich wasn't even that good. Still trying to find a good breakfast spot in Melbourne this place let me down. UPDATE: I did review a message from the lovely owner offering to remake the Sandwhich, which honestly made my whole day as I still was looking for a good breakfast spot and Havana is definitely it now! I got the same Sandwhich this time with cheddar cheese and let me tell you it was so delicious the bread was so fresh and had the perfect texture and the cheddar cheese with the potato is a perfect combo I wanted to take a picture of the full sandwich but it was so good I had to eat the first half first! If you have diet restrictions and can't eat certain meats definitely opt in for the potatoes they were perfectly seasoned and had the perfect texture not too hard or soft, perfect with the eggs. 10/10!!
