Gosh, their veggie pesto sourdough pizza is hand down one of the tastiest slices I have eaten. Quick service . They bring out new ones and they get sold out in less than 10 mins. The man at the counter was super helpful. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Loved this place!!

Half Hamakua Half Ahualoa add pepperoni and pepperocinis to the whole thing

Absolutely fantastic pizza! Our favorite is half ahualoa half hamakua add pepperoni and pepperocinis. They also have great bread, salads, desserts, and drinks for purchase. A must visit! Service is awesome.

One of the best pizzas I have had. However the Italian sandwich and salad dressing on the salad were not so good. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was thin crust and the top was not dripping oil! That's how you know it's good. It was foldable, like a NY style pie. So good! Grabbed a salad from the cold case to get some greens in my system and that was the most sour Italian (or whatever kind of vinaigrette it was) dressing ever. I did not enjoy that, it was way too tart for my taste buds. The Italian sandwich was extremely salty. It would have been ok if the meats were not so overpowering. I like how the bread was homemade. We ended with the cream cheese brownie and it was ok...I would have liked it more on the chocolate side because it had a lot of cream cheese.

This was our first time wandering into this pizzeria and it's in an adorable little plaza! There's a cool, survival/camping store in the front attached to a coin coffee shop with delicious pastries! Look for my other review on "Surf Camp" and "Arvo." My Boyfriend was slightly hungry since we had an early lunch and we split a piece of pepperoni pizza. There were 2 employees working there and a guy was making pizzas in the back, as the cashier lady was grooving and singing the great 90's/2000's hip hop and R&B songs on the radio. Hee. The lady that worked there said it was organic sourdough crust, and the crust was light and crispy, and it wasn't too greasy considering it's pepperoni and cheese. Lol where are you want to go back and get some of the takeout containers for another nights dinner! They had an adorable little patio area that was covered since it was sprinkling and I would've taken a picture, but there were two couples eating pizza out there and I didn't want to disturb them. I definitely want to go back and eat more delicious pizza at this establishment!! Hee

This is an old school pizza place with giant ovens, an open kitchen and staff that welcomes you like family! The pizza was genuinely incredible, perfectly cooked and made by James, the owner, an artist working his ass off and creating perfection. The pepperoni pizza was excellent. The crust had a great texture with a light crisp on the outside and just the right amount of chew. The sauce was flavorful without overpowering the toppings, and the pepperoni was generous and cooked perfectly. It tasted fresh and homemade from the first bite to the last. The garlic knots were fantastic. Soft, warm, and loaded with garlic flavor, they were easily some of the best we've had. The salad was fresh, crisp, and a great complement to the meal. What really stood out was James himself. You can immediately tell that he loves what he does and takes pride in his restaurant. He was welcoming, friendly, and genuinely interested in making sure guests had a great experience. It is refreshing to visit a place where the owner is so invested in both the food and the people walking through the door. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed, and the entire experience felt personal rather than rushed. Places like this are becoming harder to find. One thing visitors should know is that the restaurant is cash only. That wasn't a problem for us, and there is an ATM available at a nearby gas station if needed. Just come prepared so you can focus on enjoying the food. This was one of our favorite meals during our time on the Big Island. Great food, great service, and a restaurant that clearly reflects the passion of its owner. We will definitely be back on a future visit.

We went for our anniversary dinner and were so glad we decided to celebrate here. Very nice relaxed atmosphere, there are tables inside and out side on like a large open air lanai area with festival lights strewn across the ceiling and arches to view the sunset. Our server was Courtney who was very friendly and attentive. She made great recommendations! We tried everything she recommended. We started with a the Brussel Sprouts that were served in a cast iron skillet, crispy and tender with a balsamic glaze and the Caesar's Salad which was so fresh and coated with the perfect amount of dressing. We ordered the garlic Focaccia with melted cheese served with the most delicious marinara sauce for dipping. Then we ordered the Vodka Pasta with Shrimp, 4 large shrimps in a creamy tomato vodka sauce and house made fresh pasta. For dessert we had the Cannoli, the best Cannoli I ever had! The shell was crispy the filling was light, sweet and just delicious! Courtney gifted us the Cannoli for our anniversary and the entire staff signed an anniversary card for us. They also have a full bar and my husband was pleased with the whiskey selections and their reasonable prices. What an amazing dinner that delighted all of our senses. We will definitely have this place on our must go to list whenever we visit Hawaii Island.

Kabob was our main with hummus for the appetizers. We ended up not ordering enough for the main because I think when I'm sitting down you can't tell I'm 6'8" 220lbs and they advertise their meals as shareable. If you eat a lot, the kabobs aren't shareable. Pay attention at the desert layout; we decided to go with the unhealthy route which was to top off with some sweets instead of ordering more mains . The frozen milk cake for me was it even though they pushed the pavolova as the one. The smores is pretty average tasting s'mores but definitely a luxury version so I'd never say don't get it, I'd just say it's obtainable elseware if you're trying to decide on a space you might not visit again. The service was also on par with the establishments well earned reputation and they also had eats for our 3 year old (pizza, which somehow he ate the entire serving of and threatened me if I tried some). 5 star experience

For starters, we ordered their special lobster salad (with lobster, mango, avocado, and pickled hearts of palm) and their mushroom side dish. Both were absolutely packed with flavor, and the lobster salad especially included very new flavors for us both. The mushrooms were out of this WORLD! For entrees, we ordered the spicy lobster ravioli and their mushroom side curried macadamia nut fish (swordfish). Each bite was a little taste of fishy heaven for both dishes. We are so happy with our visit here, and cannot wait for the opportunity to come back and try more amazing, home-grown food. Thank you for this wonderful experience!

Cipriano's Kitchen - Kawaihae's Italian Treasure…read more Cipriano's Kitchen is one of those rare restaurants that keeps you thinking about your meal long after you've left. Chef Gino is generous with both his talent and his portions. Every dish showcases fresh ingredients, expert preparation, and a genuine love of Italian cooking. The menu is seafood-forward, featuring fresh local catches, handmade pasta, and flavors that are both authentic and creative. This family-run restaurant is made even more special by Claudia, Chef Gino's wife and culinary partner. Claudia bakes fresh focaccia daily and prepares the restaurant's gnocchi and pasta from scratch. As hostess, she warmly welcomes every guest and effortlessly serves as the restaurant's "walking menu," describing each dish with passion and detail. The presentation is stunning. Lobster, octopus, shrimp, clams, scallops, and house-made pasta arrive beautifully plated and bursting with flavor. The fresh focaccia alone is worth the visit. Every meal feels thoughtfully prepared, from the first bite to the last. What keeps me coming back is that the food is genuinely craveable. I find myself dining here every couple of weeks for lunch, and more often than not, I leave with a takeout order for dinner because I know I'll be thinking about it later. Cipriano's Kitchen isn't just serving Italian food--it's creating an experience centered around family, hospitality, and exceptional cooking. Kawaihae is fortunate to have this gem, and anyone who appreciates fresh seafood, handmade pasta, and heartfelt hospitality should make it a destination. A true Big Island favorite. "Come hungry. Leave happy. Plan your next visit before you've even finished your meal."

Tables are mainly outside with loud street traffic noise. We were brought water fairly quickly and had our menus to review. We then waited for 13 to 15 minutes until a young waitress returned answered our questions and we ordered some focaccia bread and three glasses of Sangiovese. $19 a glass for a very poor red wine and then seven dollars for six small pieces of focaccia bread. The least expensive wine by the bottle was $79. Their corkage fee if you brought your own bottle was a mind-boggling $179. We got our wine and bread in a reasonable time and then had to wait another 10 minutes to place an order. We were in the mood to have salad, but the least expensive was a Caesar, $25 for a small plate. We ordered two pasta dishes And one ravioli dish, which came with three cheese ravioli. The dishes in price ranged from $48-$56 each. Our food came out, reasonably on time. We requested some Parmesan cheese and olive oil for the side. The pasta was handmade, fresh and delicious. We very much enjoyed the entrées taste and presentation. One of the pasta dishes was just lukewarm when served. Our bill for three adults was $250 before tax and tip. While the food was excellent, we felt that the service and location, along with the ambience was not worth that price.
