The very first year, we had a lot of issues with communication. We would be told one thing via email, another thing via phone, and different things from different people. This led to our business being incorrectly filed, and we were on the hook for thousands in taxes. The second year, they recognized the mistake after multiple appointments to discuss. They corrected their mistake, we were charged again. Again, there were communication issues. While initially they acknowledged their mistake via email, over the phone they were defensive and blamed the IRS. The third year... well, we're still digging ourselves out of this mess. It was rocky from the beginning. Started out by having to file a correction for a mistake the made the previous year. Had an appointment to go over the next year's taxes, he mixed up which year we were filing. We caught it. Taxes filed. A few months later, we got a notice from the state threatening to claim our business and billing us for thousands of dollars. They suggested ways that we could look into hiding our business so the IRS couldn't take it, which didn't provide much reassurance. They again blamed the IRS, but acknowledged they left something out of our filing. We were told not to worry about paying the money, that it was resolved. Several months later, another notice from the IRS stating that we were now overdue on our payment. We contacted them to look into it, they said we had to pay the bill. They acknowledged their mistake, but again blamed the IRS. They filed another correction, and we were on the hook for thousands of dollars, despite being assured we didn't owe and would not be "out of pocket" any additional money. Who knows if that's the end of the problems. We were regularly treated very rudely and dismissively. When we'd discuss the frequent mistakes that were being made on our taxes, we'd be told how busy they were and that they had too many clients with a lot more money and more complicated taxes. I'm not sure what we were supposed to take from that, if it meant that we were unimportant because we didn't make enough for them to care or if it meant that they couldn't do our simpler taxes because they were spending too much time taking care of their more complicated cases. Either way, it made it clear we were not a priority for them. Getting straight answers from them always seemed to be a problem.
